  3. The reason for our change was too pinpoint a theme that was well explained in the
  4. book; racism. We used the scene with Scout finding out that Atticus is defending a
  5. black person and our scene to demonstrate the theme of racism. We also used the
  6. fact that killing a mocking bird is a sin too mate if easier for the children to
  7. understand the racism, unlike the book which they just stated it was a sin and they
  8. “should just shoot blue jays”. What we changed was adding the mockingbird rule,
