At this accusation, a shocked gasp was shared by all in the sitting-room.  Lady Faversham indeed fainted dead away, and Colonel Woodruff quickly rushed to steady her, quite neglecting his own monocle in the dash.

"Yes!" Jesus exclaimed, standing up from the divan.  "You've seen through my little game after all, Rabbi ben-Judah.  It was I who fulfilled those prophecies -- every last one.  I did it!  And I'd do it again!  Ma ha ha ha ha ha!"

"Right, tell it to the judge," said Inspector Howard, grabbing the robed perpetrator's shoulder and escorting him from the mansion.

Lord Steele could only nod admiringly and light his pipe.  "Jolly good bit of deduction there, Rabbi.  Looks like the Lamb of God'll be going back to his pen for twenty years or so, eh what?  But tell me, dash it all, how did you figure it all out?"
