The way the universe was formed was from the endless fighting of 2 Titans in the stars, 1 of light and one of dark. Neither of them can die and because of this any flesh, blood, or bone that falls off of them forms into something. Worlds are generally made of their congealed Blood, Sweat, and Tears while Archangels are made of Fingers, Arms, or Hands. Archangels once ruled the world as god kings and queens ages ago, but that was far too long ago for accurate records to be around. Their rule didn't last though and eventually they began fighting a war between their various nations. During this war they mainly used their Human servants to fight along with whatever monsters they made to fight alongside them. Eventually the war came to a close and the Archangels left without giving so much as a reason for departure to their Human subjects. The war scarred the landscape in several areas and the monsters the Archangels made were left behind. The Archangels are still worshiped in their absence, either in true worship or for access to miracles.

 

Here's what I have so far on their miracles and some thoughts for improvement beneath.

 

The miracles of the Archangels is a fickle and grueling thing. To perform a miracle the caster must make a sacrifice, whether it be a finger, a lamb, or something else fitting the Archangel it doesn't matter, as long as one is offered. Once you offer a sacrifice then the caster will be given the tiniest fraction of the Archangels power. Once the power rages through you, if you don’t use it soon then it will tear you apart. Every second holding it requires a tremendous force of will. If you don’t use it fast enough or can’t hold on, then it will tear you apart in a way unique to each god. The only downside to performing Miracles is that material sacrifices are weak, and to be able to do anything without incredible amounts of gold requires self inflicted pain or pain inflicted on another animal or human. This could be a finger, a toe, or just a cut of the arm. The larger the loss and pain the more powerful the miracle.

(You take on aspects of the Archangel while holding the power(IE flaming or wet hair or winds whipping around you), some miracles you can perform without a sacrifice either depending on how long you've been a faithful or the strength of your faith, and possibly long term effects of performing miracles so if your the high priest of the Archangel of fire you'll have flaming hair and an incredibly high body temperature)

 

The Mad God

Right now it's just an idea that I know I want in but haven't expanded upon much. The idea is for it to be a relatively new force, a corrupting influence(think chaos mutations), and also more than a bit Lovecraftian. Right now the only idea that's come from it is that their magic will work completely differently from every other form and that Vampires are werebeasts that were corrupted by it although not necessarily worshiping it.

 

The Machine God

The idea for this is that shards from the swords of the titans land near a town and a clock maker gets struck with feverish inspiration. He begins working for the next few weeks and emerges with several sentient and somehow magical clockwork constructs. They are all extremely focused on humanities well being and help advance technology much faster than it was before with their strange combination of magic and machinery. Eventually a cult forms around them that worships them and the technology they make. The tech they make varies from clockwork replacement limbs to weapons to farming tools.

 

I'm mainly looking for feedback on the creation story and the Archangels, but The Mad and Machine god I'm looking for any ideas or feedback you guys may have.
