- We were hit from behind returning to Chicago on Sunday on highway. We were stopped.
- Pushed us into car in front. Ended up being 4 cars.
- We were OK from that.
- But standing by side of road, leaning against a retaining wall, this tiny gravel and sand just gave way under my feet and I slid down the wall in slow motion.
- And my ankle turned inward 90 degrees
- And I thought, "Huh. Ankle's not supposed to bend that way. Huh."
- So I tore some ligaments and stuff in ankle.
- Finally made it to podiatrist today and his x-rays of ankle were good. Put me in boot and sent me for a higher leg x-ray just for precaution.
- Anyway, X-ray tech at hospital shot first 2 x-rays and asked when I would see my doctor next. I said 10 days. She said, "No!"
- You will wait and I will have this read right now!
- So I did and she did and it's a non-displaced oblique fracture of fibula.
- Which I guess is good as far as broken bones go.
- I have to see orthopedic surgeon tomorrow
- Caused by my high tops.
- My ankle couldn't give way, so it pulled the ligament between the two bones until it tore and the stress broke the bone.
- "Highest broken ankle I have ever seen." So I got that going for me.
- And then all the shit around my ankle is also torn up.
- I have to see an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow. Probably no surgery. Not sure on cast.
- He said surgery is not likely. Main decision will be whether I can continue walking on it or if I am bed ridden and a cast
- So just heard now either cast or surgery.
- He said it depends upon if it moves or not when he pushes is a certain way and takes an X-ray.
- Which we will do tomorrow in the orthopedic surgeon's office I guess. So the test will tell him which way to go.
- And I guess it could be surgery AND cast.
