11. Chance Me For Princeton, Wharton (UPenn), Dartmouth, Cornell, Harvard, MIT
12.
13. Hey everyone! I would love to possibly see what my chances are at a few universities that are my top choices as well as the programs that interest me there. I will chance back anyone who chances me.
14.
15. -Harvard: Economics and Government
16. -Princeton: Economics, Woodrow Wilson, Political Science (also love their certificate programs in Values and Public Life, Teacher Prep, and Finance)
17. -Dartmouth: Economics and Government
18. -University of Pennsylvania: Wharton School (also considering Jerome T. Fisher program because the Networked and Systems Engineering program really interests me). My concentrations at Wharton would be Legal Studies and Business Ethics and, if I can fit it in, Business Economics and Public Policy.
19. -Cornell: Applied Economics and Management, possibly Industrial Labor Relations?
20. -Vanderbilt: Economics and Education...going for full ride as a Cornelius Vanderbilt scholar. Chances?
21. -MIT: Economics and Management Science. I really like the Concourse program.
22. -Pomona College: Economics, maybe PPE?
23. -Stanford: Economics and Public Policy
24.
25. If you can't tell by my college choices, I want to somehow merge business, law, and teaching all together into one eclectic mix for a living. Ha!

84. -Went to WA-ACTE to lobby for HB 1650 and other STEM and vocational education bills for WAVA
85. -Part of School ASB Congress and Senate: My school is a little weird. Anyone can join Congress after they fill out an application and that is a general ASB involvement group. But then only 10 people get to be chosen as Senators for their grade, and that group influences decisions made as a whole by the ASB. I am part of both groups.
86.
87. Other Notable Achievements:
88. -Performed in Carnegie Hall with my select Wind Ensemble (2012). The ensemble had to submit audition materials first.

100. I take a bunch of college courses through Coursera and EdX
101. -"Health Policy and ACA Studies" - UPenn

104. -"Organizational Analysis" - Stanford University
105. -"Introduction to Microeconomics Principles" - UPenn
106.
107. All in all, around 700 hours of community service.
108.
109. Any chances on these schools would be great. :) I will definitely chance back. My top three choices by FAR are Penn, Princeton, and MIT. I love those schools :)
110.
111. jason861101 07-28-2013 08:20 PM
112. dang! that's a lot of ECs and rewards! You should be able to get into all the top universities!
113.

115. bump bump bump
116.
117. Timberwolf4Life 07-28-2013 08:36 PM
118. I also worked for a summer as a food summer at a local restaurant if that means anything haha.
119.
120. killforstern 07-28-2013 08:46 PM
121. Princeton, Wharton, Harvard, MIT - Reaches
122. Dartmouth, Cornell - Low reaches
123.
124. You don't understand the concept that these schools can not be judged so easily. But since you've taken so much effort to type everything out, I don't wanna disappoint you. I'll tell you what I think:
125.
126. You have a perfect application. You have an almost perfect GPA, an almost perfect SAT score, crazy good awards and incredible ECs. So I think you will get into one of HYPSMC, don't worry!
127.
128. Timberwolf4Life 07-28-2013 08:52 PM
129. Thanks bud! I apologize if I came off as judgmental or something in my other "chance" posts; I was relaying information for expediency's sake. College decisions seem really like the luck of draw nowadays and the essays are incredibly important.
130.
131. ancientdreams 07-28-2013 08:55 PM
132. Wow, you're stats are amazing! I could see you getting into a lot of these schools. Most of them are reaches but I think Cornell and Vanderbilt are low reaches. I'm not too sure about Pomona and Dartmouth. Make sure you have safeties though. Good luck.
133.
134. Timberwolf4Life 07-28-2013 08:57 PM
135. Oh yeah for sure! My safeties are the University of Washington and Washington State University.
136.
137. chestnutt 07-28-2013 08:59 PM
138. I think your chances are really high and you are a really competitive candidate, but again, a lot of the people applying to those schools share similar stats with you. I know people like you who got into those schools so just make sure to emphasize how motivated you are in your essays! (:
139.
140. I am also interested in business and law.. (I do mock trial too so go mock trial! but I applied to BOA and didn't get in :( oh wells good luck to you! and chance back please? :D
141.
142. Timberwolf4Life 07-28-2013 09:02 PM
143. For sure man! I will chance you right now.
144.
145. Thebeatlestoday 07-28-2013 09:16 PM
146. You are hands-down one of the most incredible applicants I've ever seen. Kudos!
147.
148. Princeton: mid reach
149. Wharton (UPenn): high reach
150. Dartmouth: low reach
151. Cornell: low reach
152. Harvard: high reach
153. MIT: mid reach
154.
155. Good luck!
156.
157. AdviNambisan 07-28-2013 11:07 PM
158. Wow! I think you have a pretty good shot at all of these schools.
159. But these schools talk so it's likely you'll get in one and not the other, but they are all great so good luck!
160.
161. Ubcappin 07-29-2013 12:51 AM
162. I think you have an ok chance at best....
163.
164. bump bump
165.
166. dancingqueen237 07-29-2013 01:12 AM
167. Really impressive stats! I think you have as good of a chance as you can considering how random admissions can be. Reach for all considering low acceptance rates
168.
169. cakebatter 07-29-2013 01:17 AM
170. Of course we really have no way of knowing with ivies, but you are definitely a competitive applicant and should be able to get into at least some of these. GL :)
171.
172. oxiclean 07-29-2013 01:49 AM
173. This will be just for Princeton since I know a lot about it (sorry about the others :P)
174. I live in NJ and we produce about average 2-3 people per year from my school that get into Princeton. That being said, most people who get into Princeton, AND ATTEND, are from NJ.
175.
176. You MUST be specific when applying to Princeton. What school you want, what program, etc. They don't beat around the bush, and I'm assuming most other top notch schools don't either, so you might want to apply that. Do some more research and see how flexible the curriculums are, because the school may be prestigious, but you'll have to do gen ed first year even though you took all AP's, and you'll only get to choose 5 classes.
177.
178. Second, SAT is not high enough. MUST be 2400 for Princeton. It'll be even tougher for you to get into Princeton if you're Asian because you're competing against OTHER Asians who are just as qualified.
179. But it's good that you're taking the most rigorous course work (and if you're succeeding too, that's good ;D).
180.
181. Alright, for 4n6, they could give two ****s if you won first place freshman year. Our school has one first place in the past 12 years in the STATE, and multiple titles in nationals. The state awards I advise against listing, ESPECIALLY, DO NOT list the regional ones. You're obviously qualified since you won national ones. List those, not the regional ones. Maybe the state one if you're feeling cocky. (I'm 4n6 coordinator in my school).
182.
183. Not too sure what TSA is, so I can't comment on that....
184.
185. On to clubs/leadership. Half of that is bull. Being a member doesn't count unless if it is NHS (which can be listed haha). I GUARANTEE, that as soon as they see your resume of **** ton of EC's and leadership's, they're going to throw your application in the trash. They want what is MEANINGFUL. WHY are you applying to Princeton? WHY are these the most important and not the other 10000000209384092374125-12790 ton clubs and leadership positions you hold important?
186. Since you're obviously qualified in this, too, only put down the ones in which you're president (shows that you have commitment and you're able to win-win-win)
187. If you were president for one year freshman year, that doesn't count though. You quit (unless if you tell a meaningful tidbit story about why you quit and how magical of an experience you had with whatever the **** you did).
188. For all the positions you held that are work-related, politics-related, good. That's really important. Shows you can "get out there." Put down TWO that you liked and had the most influence on you.
189.
190. Nexxtttt. Playing at Carnegie Hall??? Wowwwww. PUT THAT DOWN.
191. Published research? Send it is as a "portfolio" sort of thing (Princeton actually requires something "special" like that).
192. You play guitar? They don't care. TONS of people play with their bandmates at different gigs :P
193.
194. I've done more community service hours than you, and I'm not even applying to Ivy's. Don't list it unless if it is important (seeing as you only put down the hours and not where, I'll just assume it's not....). Unless if you can tie it in with one of the co-hosting concert affiliations for africa, then it's iffy...
195.
196. PUT DOWN MODEL UN. IT IS *HUGGEEE* IN PRINCETON. And the fact that you did it for three years. Wow.
197. Put down the sports and the Pep Band. It'll make you seem like the "yes, Princeton, I AM the normal high schooler that just-so-happens to have participated in everything possible that is intellectually stimulating. I have exhausted everything and you will give me more than what I want. take me" sort of deal.
198.
199. Courses: decide which are the most important. Put two down and why.
200.
201.
202.
203. Lastly, for anyone who thinks I sound harsh: They get OVER 21,000 applications per year. Do you know how many they accept? They only accept about 1,900. And most of them are from NJ. Don't forget international students, too. You don't have to be the best, you have to be the best from your state. I was typing from the point of view from one of the admissions officers.
204. I have three good friends who go to Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, and UPenn. Since those are lower than HYP, I think you have a chance (they did less than you and got in... two of them were actually lazy so idk?). Again, with all the top schools, you're BOUND to get into one, but it may not be the one that's in "your top 3."
205. Good luck :)
206. pm if you have any other questions, sorry if it seemed overbearing :P
207.
208. oxiclean 07-29-2013 01:51 AM
209. lol i sounded like a *****, don't judge me it's 2 am
210.
211. Timberwolf4Life 07-29-2013 02:06 AM
212. Wait, so being a Senior Staff Writer for a political organization at the state level and being Vice President of a National CTSO does not mean anything?
213.
214. I am applying to Princeton because their interdisciplinary program with Economics and human development at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Affairs as well as their certificate programs give me exactly the exposure to both the theoretical and practical aspects of public policy I want in order to shape a career in legal analysis. I know what I want to do at Princeton and why I want to be there.
215.
216. Thank you for your honest feedback though. I highly appreciate it.
217.
218. Timberwolf4Life 07-29-2013 02:14 AM
219. Oh and all the clubs I was an officer for, I stayed in all my years in high school. I just didn't choose to run for leadership again.
220.
221. econsftw 07-29-2013 08:54 AM
222. Why are you even asking people to chance you! Your stats are amazing and you can most probably get in to most if not all of the schools. You just need to write great essays and you're in. And I wouldn't doubt your writing ability - your debate awards are proofs of your strong linguistic skills
223.
224. collegeluva101 07-29-2013 11:46 AM
225. You make me want to die... But in a good way!
226.
227. You are an incredible applicant! I can see through your ECs that you definitely know what you want to do with your life, and that's awesome! Your GPA and stats are awesome. Everything about you is awesome. I'm sure I don't need to say this, but definitely spend time writing the best essays you have ever written in your 17 years on this planet, and I would be surprised, no matter how much of a crapshoot Ivy and other top school admissions is, if you don't get into at least one of your top schools!
228.
229. Best of luck to you in the application process! Chance me back please? Thanks! :)
230.
231. Timberwolf4Life 07-29-2013 12:13 PM
232. Yeah sure! I will chance you :D
233.
234. Timberwolf4Life 07-29-2013 12:32 PM
235. Can you post a link to the thread where your chances are listed?

239.
240. Here you go! Thanks muchly!
241.
242. fauve 07-29-2013 01:06 PM
243. To the OP: as advised earlier, you need to distill your activities down to the most impressive and most essential. (You will find there is not that much room on the applications for every single activity.)
244.
245. One of your listings raised an eyebrow for me-- your claim to be a "campaign advisor" to two local candidates. Assuming you are in high school, most adults would assume you were an "aide" or "worker" at your age. Be careful not to over-inflate your position, as adcoms hate self-aggrandizement. Better to err on the side of humility, a quality they respect.
246.
247. You have plenty of great ECs, so no need to overstate or exaggerate. Best of luck.
248.
249. 20more 07-29-2013 01:12 PM
250. Princeton, Wharton, Harvard, MIT: Reach to High Reach
251. Dartmouth: Reach to Low Reach
252. Cornell: Low reach to Solid Chances
253.
254. Timberwolf4Life 07-29-2013 01:13 PM
255. Yeah, thanks for the advice! I couldn't think of a better word; I suppose aide is better. Basically I work with the candidates and with the Executive Director of LP in Washington to discuss campaign strategies and targeted marketing.
256.
257. @fauve
258.
259. jvarin 07-29-2013 04:24 PM
260. From what people say here, all the ivies are reaches for anyone.
261.
262. However, you seem to be exceptionally qualified.
263.
264. Your EC's are amazing. I know that I barely had time to sleep with everything that was going on last year, but you seem to have done at least double of anyone I know.
265.
266. I would think that Vanderbilt, Cornell, Dartmouth and Pomona will be matches.
267.
268. Timberwolf4Life 07-29-2013 05:44 PM

272. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1533018-chance-me-please-i-chance-back.html
273.
274. I think you would be a good match for any of the schools :D not because you have a lot of ECs (even tho you do) but the ones you've done outside of school for business, community service, etc. stand out a lot !! Of course all of the schools you said are Ivies so there will be some randomness in decisions since a bunch of them turn down really good apps
275.
276. Cornell - high match
277. Dartmouth - high match
278. Harvard - low/mid reach (because its harvard)
279. Princeton - low reach
280. MIT, UPenn - low reach/high match
281.
282. i would be extremely surprised if you didnt get into at least one of harvard, princeton, mit, upenn though and probably give up trying to understand college admissions if you didn't get into any of them
283.
284. Timberwolf4Life 07-29-2013 06:52 PM
285. Thanks math64!
286. @fauve, do you have any advice as to what to put down and what not to? I have no idea what the common application looks like.
287.
288. danhwkim 07-29-2013 10:40 PM
289. You have probably the best ECs I have ever seen.
290.
291. Vanderbilt, Dartmouth, Cornell: low reach
292. Everything else I'd say is mid-reach. Your EC emphasis on law/public policy/politics makes you really, really, really competitive for government programs, etc. Well done!
293.
294. Smithg1227 07-30-2013 01:07 AM
295. My God this is impressive! Your resume is as solid as I think one can be. Low reaches for all those schools, if you can bang out a 2300+ on your next SAT I'd move them into high matches.
296.
297. Timberwolf4Life 07-30-2013 01:14 AM
298. Yeah I can't take the SAT anymore because I already took it twice :/ I think I'm mostly happy with it though. I heard most colleges just look at it as a bench mark, and after 2250 it doesn't really matter.
299. There is a part of me that fears that my SAT score will my Achilles heel haha.

302. Though I gotta say, 2400 scores do rock!

305. Oh alright. Well, I think you should be fine with that score anyway. That was about the only thing in your resume that wasn't above the 75th percentile for those schools lol! Best of luck you should get into most of those schools. Outstanding ECs by the way.

311. For the lesser Ivies, you can probably get in.
312. Same with MIT.
313. The odds are slightly in your favor for the rest.

319. I like your extracurriculars, not because you have so many leadership positions, or because you have done every prestigious program possible. I like them because you seem so passionate about debate, law and business; Your love for these subjects is very palpable. I really wish I could be like you! You'll really stand out in your apps and I'm quite sure that you will make it into AT LEAST one of the Ivy's. You have a very competitive resume. Good job, and I wish you the best of luck.

322. Ivies are always a possibility and it wouldn't be so much of a stretch for you. I'm not saying you'll get in for sure, but you have as good of a shot as anyone, if not better! The one thing I would try and get involved in is something in your community with a diversity aspect. Maybe start a club?
