Strange Ghosts in Kolisa: Everyone Drink That Water

[19:20] <~BigTentacruel> Alright. Last time on Dragonba- I mean, Strange Days in Kolisa, our travelers arrived in the rustic town of Furrowvale, where the atmosphere is strange and dark. They tromped through a cornfield to be redirected back to town, where they encountered a bartending young woman and a horde of ghost digletts. They have found that nearby are mines that contain some sort of danger, which the Diglett they caught is willing to lead them to. All of this is going on while Grainger Harcroft has yet to be seen.
[19:20] <Ein> (So the innkeeper healed the trainers' damage last time too, right?)
[19:20] <~BigTentacruel> (After a night's rest, gain back 1/4th of your max HP)
[19:21] <~BigTentacruel> Early in the morning, the three of you, bleary eyed and tired from whatever you were doing the night prior, are standing in the inn's main barroom area. Delilah is standing nearby. Lianhua probably saw her on her way up but didn't stop to chat more than to get the room.
[19:22] <Lianhua> Nope, she just went straight to bed~ Jet lag's a bitch.
[19:22] * Ein waves sleepily at Delilah, "good morning..."
[19:24] * Victor is at the bar gain, staring at the pokeball containing the ghost digglet, still trying to figure out how to deal with this. "Um... morning...."
[19:24] <Lianhua> "Goood morning~" And oh god, she's obnoxiously cheery, too.
[19:24] <~BigTentacruel> For those who have yet to meet her, Delilah is a young woman with fiery red hair and monkey-like creature on her shoulder. Her dress is practical yet has a certain stylish flair to it. She waves to the group and says, "Good morning to all of you too. Your companion left earlier in search of something. He said he'd be back later."
[19:26] * Victor snaps out of his concentration. "huh... who?"
[19:26] <Lianhua> "Did he, this early? Good for him."
[19:26] <~BigTentacruel> The bar has few patrons this morning, as it's just a little past dawn, maybe around 8 in the morning. Two sit at a table in the back and mostly ignore the group. Outside, you can hear bustling in the town.
[19:27] <Victor> ((how big is the town again?))
[19:27] * Ein looks a little disappointed, "aww... He left without us," The Vulpix, Clefairy, and Ferroseed all come out from behind him, the Vulpix yipped at him, "sis! it's rude to talk that way about people!"
[19:27] <~BigTentacruel> "He seemed rather eager to find the Cottonee fields."
[19:27] <~BigTentacruel> The town doesn't feel very large, as buildings line mostly a central street, but the number of people in the area is abnormally large for how many buildings you see. Furrowvale is a farming town, so many live with their families outside the town proper.
[19:28] <Lianhua> "Hmm, Cottonee are the little fluffy ones we saw earlier, right? Wouldn't mind catching one myself."
[19:28] <~BigTentacruel> (You could roll an int check if you want to see if you know any further information about the local population density or geography.)
[19:30] * Ein looks at Lianhua curiously, "huh? Capture? why don't you just make friends with them?"
[19:30] <~BigTentacruel> "Well, they're in abundance," Delilah says to Lianhua. "They normally live out in the cotton fields, but they tend to float around, and with all this weird stuff happening lately, they've been all over the place."

[19:30] <Lianhua> "Maybe I'll go looking later, who knows?"
[19:31] <Lianhua> "That being said, did you ever find the letter man...Ein, was it?"
[19:32] * Ein shakes his head, "nope... no luck there, I think our best bet would be to ask Grainger..."
[19:32] <~BigTentacruel> Victor: You know that Furrowvale, being rural has maybe... 300ish people living there. They mostly live outside of the main square, though, so travelers and those in town on business are mostly what you're going to find here. Just beyond the north side of town, opposite the train station, is Harcroft Farms, where Grainger lives and works.
[19:33] <~BigTentacruel> "Well, Mr. Harcroft lives just past the dress shop on the north end of town. He was supposed to have come in this morning, though, but he's late."
[19:34] <~BigTentacruel> Delilah seems rather concerned about the whole thing, despite it being pretty early. Farming folk must get up at the crack of dawn.
[19:35] <Lianhua> "...Hmm. Maybe we should go check on him?"
[19:35] <Lianhua> "I mean, we need to talk to him anyway, so it wouldn't be a problem at all!"
[19:36] <Victor> ((ok gonna be a tad slow here, since the chinese just arrived. just a heads up))
[19:37] <~BigTentacruel> Delilah brightens a bit at the response. Her monkey companion seems to like to mirror her expressions. "Well, if you're headed that direction, I'd appreciate it. I'm worried something might have happened with those Diglett last night."
[19:37] * Ein seems to be thinking for a second, "hmm... Delilah, do you have anything of his? Sis might be able to find him if she can get a scent..."
[19:37] <Victor> "Does anyone know how ghosts fare in the daylight?..." Victor asked suddenly. "I'm... I'm not so familiar with them... don't want the little guy to get hurt."
[19:38] <Lianhua> "Well, I know Piao doesn't mind the daylight, but maybe he's special."
[19:38] <~BigTentacruel> Delilah goes absolutely beet red at the question from Ein. "I... well... n-no. I d-don't have anything with me. Be-besides, wouldn't all the smells in town mask it?"
[19:39] <Lianhua> "What's so embarrassing about that?"
[19:39] * Lianhua leeeeeaaaaans in.
[19:39] * Ein shakes his head, with a proud look on his face, "Sis has a great nose, when I get lost from town to town, she usally points the way."
[19:40] * ~BigTentacruel leeeeaaans away from Lianhua. "Nothing! Nothing embarrassing. Why would I have a man's clothing around? I mean, or anything of his?"
[19:41] <~BigTentacruel> (Goddamn it.)
[19:41] <~BigTentacruel> (Delilah does that. Son of a bitch.)
[19:41] <Ein> (god got all embarrassed about having someone's clothing lying around)
[19:41] <Lianhua> "I dunno, why would you?"
[19:41] <Lianhua> Lianhua: NOT HELPING
[19:42] <Ein> *the vulpix next to Ein (from now on referred to as Nina) walks up to Delilah, looking up at her.
[19:42] <~BigTentacruel> "I... I wouldn't! He lives on the north side of town. I run the bar here. Th-there's no reason for him to leave anything here..." Delilah quickly turns around and starts vigorously wiping a counter, trying to escape the conversation.
[19:43] * Victor exhales in an approving way. "Sounds like quite the person, to get you so flustered." he says nodding.
[19:44] <Lianhua> "Weeeeeell, let's go look for him."
[19:44] <Ein> (This has gone from trying to get information to trying to fluster Delilah)
[19:44] <~BigTentacruel> (She's plenty flustered, let me tell you.)
[19:44] <Ein> (I couldn't tell)
[19:45] * Ein walks up to Delilah, "since you don't have anything of his, Where do you think I could find something of his?"
[19:45] <~BigTentacruel> "Th-there's a big sign pointing to his ranch. Can't miss it," Delilah says, still turned around. Her monkey companion is patting her shoulder reassuringly. "Got to find a gym quick when you're in town, right...?"
[19:47] <Lianhua> "Well, I guess so~"
[19:47] <Victor> "would be nice.
[19:47] <Victor> "
[19:47] * Ein shrugs, "allright, we'll let you know if we find him... Maybe I'll ask him to give something to you in case this happens again..." He walks towards the door, His three pokemon friends in tow.
[19:48] <~BigTentacruel> Delilah makes some kind of strange noise as you leave. Very embarrassed, indeed.
[19:50] <Lianhua> "You shouldn't tease her, you know," Lianhua comments as soon as the door is solidly closed.
[19:50] * Victor having little else to do this early in the morning (evening being more his up-and-about time), decides to follow after Ein, somewhat curious about the wild child.
[19:50] * Ein looks confusedly at Lianhua, "huh? Tease? what do you mean?"
[19:50] <~BigTentacruel> Outside the bar, the townsfolk amble along. There are quite a few of them here, mostly crowded around the general store and the produce market. It seems like it would be a challenge to get into the general store through the crowd. Much of the dirt along the road has been dug up, as well, and quite a few deep holes, around a foot in diameter, appear near the front of the inn.
[19:51] <Victor> "Guess the digglets did a number on this place..."
[19:52] <Lianhua> "Hope no one rides Ponyta through here until it's fixed."
[19:53] <Lianhua> "Anyway, I guess I'll explain when you're, uh...a little older?"
[19:54] * Ein sighs, "We're partially to blame here, Sis and I are so used to defending our territory from ghosts and other things, that we were too aggressive to start..."
[19:55] * Victor grunted. "Well no point in dwelling on it, jsut gotta figure out how to avoid it next time. most useful skill is to figure out when to attack and when to talk it out..." he scratched his head. "I can't say I'm the best at it either though."
[19:56] <~BigTentacruel> High above you, a few Cottonee float in from the north.
[19:57] * Lianhua watches them go by O:
[19:57] <Lianhua> "Looks like they're coming from what's his name's farm."
[19:58] <Ein> "also what's with the crowd?  are they just looking at what the digletts did?"  Ein looks at the crowd curiously, walking towards them.
[19:58] <Lianhua> "I thought they were just doing their thing."
[19:59] <Victor> "This might have been the first time they came so far into town. I don't know of too many stories where ghosts appear en mass out in the open like that, even if ti was just a handful"
[19:59] <~BigTentacruel> The crowd doesn't seem interested in the holes in the road, though a few are looking at them with vague interest. Mostly, you hear them yelling about getting at the wares in the general store. Maybe they're stocking up?
[20:00] <Lianhua> "Huh...I guess we can ask what's his name what's going on here?"
[20:00] * Ein pokes one of the people in the back of the crowd, "excuse me, what's going on here?"
[20:01] <Lianhua> "Well, that wasn't exactly what I meant, but..."
[20:02] <~BigTentacruel> The man whom Ein poked turns around with an irritated look on his face. "Go away, kid. You aren't getting any canned goods while I'm here."
[20:03] * Ein looks at the man confusedly, "canned goods?"
[20:03] <Victor> Victor towers over Ein from  behind. "Is it hard to get them around here?"
[20:04] <Lianhua> "Why do you need to stock up on cans?"
[20:05] <~BigTentacruel> He seems even more irritated by the group now questioning him. "What? You a bunch of travelers? Best get out of town while you still can. This town's gonna dry up. Not a crop to spare."
[20:06] * Ein tilts his head in confusion
[20:07] <Lianhua> "But the corn fields seemed to be doing pretty well?"
[20:07] <Lianhua> It definitely comes out as a question, not a statement.
[20:07] <~BigTentacruel> "The Cottonee! Just you wait. They're building up in numbers. Soon, they'll block out all those fields. You think it's safe now, but it'll change soon..."
[20:08] <~BigTentacruel> He turns back to the store and tries to shunt his way in, grumbling irritably about "Damn sun stone... Harcroft better not..."
[20:09] <Lianhua> "Are they really that big of a deal?"
[20:09] <Lianhua> "Why not just sell their fluff?"
[20:09] <Lianhua> "Make pillows and quilts out of it."
[20:10] <Victor> "Thats what they do in Unova" victor said, nodding
[20:10] <~BigTentacruel> Unfortunately, the man has vanished into the crowd, but a woman, who had been leaning against the storefront nearby, comes over to you. "Cottonee don't do a lot of good when you don't have any food."
[20:11] <Lianhua> "Guess not."
[20:11] <Victor> "That man said something about a sun stone..." Victor said looking at the woman. "Wht was he reffering to?"
[20:11] <~BigTentacruel> "My husband, the one you talked to, thinks Grainger Harcroft, the gym leader in this town, found something, a big sun stone, big enough to make all the Cottonee evolve at once," she says. "Once they all do that, there'll be so many, and they'll be bigger. There's a lot of Cottonee here, and more come every day, it seems."
[20:12] <~BigTentacruel> "Maybe we just haven't noticed how many we've had."
[20:13] <Victor> Victor scratched his chin. A destabilizing mass evolution of a pestilent species, even if it was cotonee sounded defintiely like Ranger business. "So why would he try to evolve them all? Wht kind of person is the Harcroft?"
[20:14] * Ein looks at Victor, "we'd find out a lot sooner if we went to find him like we said we would..."
[20:14] * Victor shook his head. "I've never said no to a rumor check around town. Even if the info is exagerated, it lets us know of the impression he leaves behind him..."
[20:14] <Lianhua> "In fact, we'd beeter do that."
[20:15] <~BigTentacruel> "I don't think Grainger's up to anything like that, but the recent Cottonee infestation, and with all the weird noises happening, it's certainly gotten people on edge."
[20:15] <Lianhua> "I mean, it's not like we're going to learn anything else here."
[20:16] * Ein nods, "right... well then, let's head to his place..." He starts walking towards the north end of town.
[20:17] * Victor nodded to the woman. "Thanks for the info." he said and continued on after ein.
[20:17] <~BigTentacruel> The woman waves at you. "Good luck!"
[20:17] * Lianhua waves back, and follows~
[20:19] <~BigTentacruel> As you pass through town, the crowds begin to thin. You see a small building with a sign saying, "Doctor's Office" and another small building labeled, "Smith's Workshop". It's rather simple naming schemes, with anything important for a farming community written in large font on the sign without creative naming. At the north end of town, the last building is a slightly more extravagent one with a sign saying, "The Whimsicott's Weave". Beyond that, you can see an enormous sign pointing towards Harcroft's ranch and gym.
[20:21] * Lianhua notes the latter - she'll take a look after GYM
[20:21] <Victor> "so do we know what kind of gym leader this Harcroft guy is?" Victor asked, musingly. "these gym leader types always have some sort of gimmic behind them, from what I've known. haven't really challeneged any, busy with work most of the time."
[20:22] <Ein> "Gym leader?  Challenge? I thought we were going to find him and ask him about this whole cottonee and diglett situation." Ein replied.
[20:22] <Lianhua> "Well, with all the Cottonee...grass types."
[20:22] <Lianhua> "Why can't we do both?"
[20:23] <~BigTentacruel> The road beyond town is riddled with holes similar to what you saw outside The Hanging Bunch. Cotton and corn fields stretch to either side, but as you approach Harcroft's Ranch and Gym, you see a few fields that are empty pastures. A couple of large cow-like pokemon and buffalo-like pokemon stand sturdily there.
[20:23] * Victor shrugged. "If he's in the gym, sometimes you have to run through an obstacle course of some kind they think up, since they're all the way at the back. sometimes the guys up front won't believe you that you're not trying to challenge the gym, goes straight from inaine conversation to battles before you can blink."
[20:24] <Lianhua> "You think a farmer'd have time for something like that?"
[20:25] * Victor grinned a bit. "I've had to fight my way through a gym once just so I could verify the gym leader's license. he had been under suspicion until then. Turned out to be on the straight and narrow though. but the guy had all these annoying turnstile and mirror puzzles, it was rather a hassle. Fun though, had I not been on the job."
[20:25] * Ein looks confused still, "wait... you challenge gyms? why?"
[20:26] * Victor patted Ein's head. "To test your skills. its good fun to take part in a leauge, I've been meaning to for a while. You only truely know some things about yourself when you've been pushed to the brink trying to reach the top."
[20:27] <~BigTentacruel> The ranchhouse comes into view soon, and there's large bales of hay piled up near the front, with a few tall, quadrupedal dinosaur pokemon hanging around them. They have enormous leaves on their backs and what appear to be grapes dangling from their chins.
[20:27] <Lianhua> "Right, you do it to test your skill and your Pokemon's."
[20:27] <~BigTentacruel> Perception checks?
[20:28] <Lianhua> (OH GOD GRAPE TROPIUS)
[20:28] <Lianhua> (waaaaaaant)
[20:28] <Lianhua> 1d20 derp

[20:31] * Victor points descretely over towards one of the Dinosaur pokemon. "There's guy over there... wht are these things anyway?"
[20:31] <Lianhua> "Huh?"
[20:31] * Lianhua looks up.
[20:32] * Ein stares at the dinosaurs
[20:33] <Lianhua> "I think they're called...Tropius? There are some in the far south where I'm from."
[20:33] <~BigTentacruel> You can just sort of start to make him out now. A thick-limbed man from all the farming, he's plucking fruit from some other kind of Tropius. This one seems to be growing a whole load of different fruit instead of just one kind.
[20:34] <Lianhua> o:
[20:34] * Lianhua 's mind is fucking blown
[20:34] <Lianhua> "I wonder if that's Harcroft?
[20:34] <Lianhua> "
[20:35] <Ein> "Only one way to find out." Ein says, bounding towards the figure on all fours.
[20:36] <~BigTentacruel> As you get close, he turns, noticing the three of you. A mess of blonde hair covers his head, cut short and covered with a broad-rimmed hat to block the sun. He's also not wearing a shirt because it's rather hot outside. "Well now... trio of travelers, one like his momma was a Houndoom and one in funny clothing I've never seen before. You must be trainers passing through to get my badge."
[20:36] * Lianhua opens her mouth to comment, thinks better of it, and then follows at a more gentlewomanly pace.
[20:36] <~BigTentacruel> (aaaaand suddenly IRL Beetee has tinnitus happening. whooooo.
[20:37] <Victor> "That might be a part of it." Victor said in reply. "Harcroft, I presume?"
[20:37] <Victor> ((wait what now?))
[20:37] <~BigTentacruel> (Nothing. Just ringing in my ear. DDD:)
[20:38] <Victor> ((thats no fun. I have that happen too))
[20:38] <~BigTentacruel> "That's right, friend. Grainger Harcroft, Gym Leader here in Furrowvale and pokemon rancher."
[20:38] <~BigTentacruel> He smiles and nods to Lianhua. "Ma'am."
[20:38] * Lianhua bows a little.
[20:39] <Lianhua> "Fei Lianhua, and that's Victor, and that's Ein."
[20:39] * Victor nodds at the man.
[20:39] * Ein looks at the man, somewhat offended "my Mom is a ninetales, thank you very much..."
[20:40] <Victor> ((Wait i'm missing something....))
[20:40] <Lianhua> ((:D?))
[20:40] <Victor> ((didn't understand why Ein was offended))
[20:40] <Ein> (previous comment about one looking like his momma was a houndoom)
[20:40] <Lianhua> (he doesn't like houndoom?)
[20:40] <Lianhua> (also brb one sec)
[20:41] <Lianhua> (okay)
[20:41] <Victor> ((ahh missed that part))
[20:41] * ~BigTentacruel chuckles. "And mine was a Tauros on two legs. What a strong woman she was. Anyway, what can I do for you all?"
[20:41] <~BigTentacruel> (Goddamnit.)
[20:41] <~BigTentacruel> (I did it again.)
[20:41] <Ein> (It's not specifically because he said houndoom)
[20:41] <~BigTentacruel> (I'm too used to being a player.)
[20:41] <Victor> ((who is this gigantic tentacruel and why does it keep butting in?! can I catch it?!))
[20:43] <~BigTentacruel> (Not even with a Master ball, boyo.)
[20:43] <Lianhua> (I'm the cap spec, I get dibs)
[20:43] * Ein looks at him, "well we came here to ask about the ghosts, and the cottonee" Nina yips, causing Ein to nod "oh, and CURSE..."
[20:43] <Ein> (can i befriend it?)
[20:44] <Lianhua> "And have a gym battle!"
[20:44] <Lianhua> "And ask about your sun stone."
[20:44] <Ein> "and Delilah was worried about you"
[20:44] * Victor grunted, thinking the other two were jumping the gun. then agin, he tended to plod along on his investigations. "Umm... one thing at a time, kids."
[20:45] <~BigTentacruel> Harcroft looks a little confused. "Who've you been- Delilah? She tell you about all this?"
[20:45] <Victor> "It involves a long story and an attack by ghostly diglets last night" victor replied.
[20:46] <Lianhua> "Why don't you tell that part?"
[20:46] <Victor> ((do we use rule of blah here?))
[20:47] <Ein> (just spell it out this time, not everyone was here)
[20:47] <Ein> (even if there were logs that could be read)
[20:47] <~BigTentacruel> "Near the inn? Damn. I knew they'd gotten into town, but I didn't think they'd be that much danger yet..." he says.
[20:48] <Victor> ((no i remember most of what happened, it was mostly for brevity sake))
[20:48] <~BigTentacruel> (Lianhua wasn't here, boy-o.)
[20:48] <Ein> (*facedesk*)
[20:48] <Victor> (I planned on telling it, just needed to know how much detail))
[20:48] <Lianhua> ((I saw the logs though)
[20:48] <Lianhua> ((summarizing is fine))
[20:48] <Lianhua> (she's just letting y'all tell because she wasn't there IC)
[20:49] * Victor nodded. "Yes.... I actually caught one, a ghost diglet. It happened later on after we had checked in, all sorts of comotion out in the streets."
[20:50] <~BigTentacruel> "The Digletts came from the mines just north of here. I've been watching them carefully for a few weeks now. They come up at night and dig holes, but I think they're just lost and confused. I guess they got scared even further out after yesterday though..."
[20:51] <Lianhua> "Why would ghosts need to dig holes, though?"
[20:52] <Victor> "We're trying to figure out the reasonsing behind that. One of the people who came in on the train with us was able to communicate with it, and it indicated that some of it could have resulted from a horrible cave-in."
[20:52] <Victor> ((I think tahts what it was, sorry if I misremembered that))
[20:53] <~BigTentacruel> Next to Grainger, the Multifruit Tropius is braying softly. Harcroft continues to pluck fruit from it. "I think they just do it out of reflex. It's all Wexford would have asked from them." To Victor he nods. "That's about right. Wexford's mines are just north, like I said, but I've been keeping the town from heading that way. It's too dangerous."
[20:53] <Lianhua> "Poor things."
[20:54] * Victor blinked. "Wexford? Who's he?"
[20:54] <~BigTentacruel> "I was going to deliver some supplies to Delilah today. Gave me an excuse to see her, but then I got caught up with things here. The Diglett are just a symptom of the problem."
[20:54] * Ein nods, "so Wexford's the one that's still in there..."
[20:54] <~BigTentacruel> Harcroft gives you a grave look. "Wexford died," he says. "The cave-in killed him and apparently all his pokemon as well."
[20:55] * Victor visibly shuddered. "Doesn't mean he isn't still in there though... in some form."
[20:55] * Ein nods, "well he's down there, trying to keep the ghost digletts safe from... a giant rock, i think it said?"
[20:56] <Ein> *Nina yips, "Ok... yeah... at least that's what sis thinks it said..."
[20:56] <Victor> Something clicked in Victor's head. "The sunstone, perhaps? I mean, unless you really do have it, Harcroft."
[20:56] <~BigTentacruel> Harcroft regards you with all his seriousness. "I doubt it," he says to Ein. At Victor's comment, he pauses. "... come with me."
[20:57] <Lianhua> "Hmmm."
[20:57] * Victor nodded seriously, intent on following Harcroft.
[20:57] * Lianhua follows as well, frowning a bit.
[20:58] <~BigTentacruel> He leads you aronud the back of the house, past the Tropius and through one of his fields. Around you are a multitude of pokemon, more of the cow and buffalo pokemon, but also some deer and a whole load of Cottonee as well. It's just past the Cottonee that he leads you.
[20:58] <~BigTentacruel> Perception rolls.
[20:58] <Victor> 1d20 What do your elven eyes see?!
[20:58] <DiceMaid-9001> Victor, What do your elven eyes see?!: 1 [1d20=1]
[20:58] <Ein> 1d20-1 Nothing!

[21:00] <~BigTentacruel> None of you even notice it at first, and Victor nearly walks clear over the edge before Harcroft swiftly grabs him. In front of you is a massive sinkhole, easily twenty feet in diameter and what seems like fifty to a hundred feet deep.
[21:01] <~BigTentacruel> You're not quite sure how deep it is because at the bottom is a very bright glow, golden like the sun above. It's very nearly blinding to look at.
[21:02] <Lianhua> (good going vicky)
[21:02] <Lianhua> "My goodness, that's..."
[21:02] * Lianhua shields her eyes
[21:02] * Victor shields his eyes. "Well, that answers one question, if that is what I think it is." he looks up to Harcroft. "And it was just sitting down there at the bottom of the sinkhole?"
[21:03] <~BigTentacruel> "The sun stone I 'found'. The sinkhole came up yesterday. We're near my neighbor's property, and he got wind of it. I think he set the whole town in panic."
[21:04] * Ein grabs the clefairy that jumps towards the shiny light, "Steve! I know it's mesmirising but that doesn't mean you should blindly jump after it."
[21:04] * Victor chuckles. "Atlest its not moonstone kid." Looks back to Harcroft. "I've never seen a rock quite like that so big. have you been able to get down there to closely inspect it?"
[21:05] <~BigTentacruel> Harcroft looks at all of you with heavy regard. "It's a long way down, and piping features like this don't just spring up like that. Not with something like a sun stone at the bottom and all these Cottonee nearby."
[21:05] <Lianhua> "Yeah, people are mostly worried at the idea of all those Cottonee evolving."
[21:05] <Lianhua> "Somethin' about crops."
[21:07] <Victor> "With something like this, who cares about crops getting enough normal sun. its so big you could rent this thing out during a cloudy season."
[21:08] <Ein> "maybe the big rock that the diglett mentioned has something to do with it?"
[21:08] <~BigTentacruel> Harcroft sighs. "Yes. Having an infestation of Cottonee is bad. Having them all suddenly evolve is worse. I've left a few pokemon here to keep an eye out for them." He turns and calls out. You're not quite sure what he said, but suddenly a couple of dog-like pokemon with black fur and white skeletal plates on them appear along with a wooly, orange, black, and white striped dog pokemon.
[21:08] <~BigTentacruel> They came from some trees near the hole.
[21:10] <Lianhua> "Huh."
[21:10] <Lianhua> "That is an idea, if you can keep the little guys off it."
[21:12] <~BigTentacruel> "Phoenix, Russell, and Stetson have been keeping watch for me." He pets the striped dog pokemon's ears as he says as much. "I'm worried that it'll get worse, though. It's only a matter of time..."
[21:12] <Victor> "I suggest, if you can find them big enough, fine weave nets. At the very least it could prevent any large exposure to the radition if ny cottony manage to land there. not a permenant fix though."
[21:13] * Victor was still looking down the hole, wondering if whiskey could possibly do recon down there or if there wouldn't be enough updraft to get the bird out.
[21:13] <~BigTentacruel> "Well, it's not that simple," Harcroft says. "I don't want anything going down there. It's not just a natural feature. I know that much. Something is living down there."
[21:13] <Lianhua> "...you mean the stone?"
[21:14] <Lianhua> "But stones aren't alive."
[21:14] * Lianhua scratches at her head.
[21:14] <~BigTentacruel> "Not the stone. But I've seen the mines, even before Wexford died. He wasn't the only one down there."
[21:14] <Ein> "like maybe the big rock the diglett mentioned" Ein says.
[21:14] <Ein> "It did say the rock was getting bigger..."
[21:15] <Victor> "Maybe some sort of rock pokemon then. They can sometimes bamboozle miners since its so hard to make them out in the dark. One of those would grow larger over time."
[21:15] <Lianhua> "....So, what can we do to help?"
[21:16] <~BigTentacruel> Harcroft scratches his head as well, removing his hat. "Now, I'm not sure what that is, honestly. It could be this sunstone, but I don't think that's what it meant, if you're talking about them running from it..." He turns to Lianhua. "Well, if you're willing, could you scout out the area near the mines? It's a dangerous place right now with all the Diglett, but your should let you pass pretty freely. Don't go in. Just check the area."
[21:16] <~BigTentacruel> "I need to go into town, but I'm going to leave these three here with one more to keep watch. I'm hoping it'll be enough."
[21:17] * Victor chuckled. "That is my sort of line of work after all.." he said mysteriously. "just point me in the direction."
[21:17] * Ein looks at Victor, "you know, there's a diglett that knows the way..."
[21:18] <Lianhua> "Right! This is a nice place, and I'd hate to see either the Cottonee or the humans put out because of this stone."
[21:18] <~BigTentacruel> "You can head northeast from here. Follow the stream at the north end of the fields, near my Stantler, and you'll start to head there."
[21:18] * Victor shivers a little. "Yeah... yeah I guess he does, doesn't he..."
[21:19] <Lianhua> "All right, thank you."
[21:19] <Lianhua> "...By the way, those Tropius are really neat."
[21:19] <Lianhua> "Do you have one that grows peaches?"
[21:22] <Victor> ((vaild question))
[21:22] <~BigTentacruel> "I might," he says, grinning for the first time since you first met him. "Maybe we can work out a wager after all is said and done."
[21:22] <Lianhua> "Peaches are the best fruit~"
[21:22] <Lianhua> "But first, work, right?"
[21:23] <Lianhua> "Lead on, Victor~"
[21:23] <Ein> *Nina yips at Ein, "oh, right...  One last thing, have you ever heard of CURSE?"
[21:23] <Victor> "Yes, thank you, almost forgot to ask that."
[21:24] <~BigTentacruel> "Yes'm. Good luck to y'all. I'll be back before sundown, so meet me at the ranchhouse then." Turning to Ein he scratches is head confusedly, "CURSE? You mean like this town having a curse on it?"
[21:24] <Victor> "More like n organization called Curse, or a Person who goes by that name."
[21:25] <~BigTentacruel> "Can't say I do... Doc Binker's the one to ask when all is said and done."
[21:25] <Lianhua> "All right, we'll do that."
[21:26] * Ein nods, "we'll do that later then... For now, we need to get going" He boundes off in the direction that they were told to go.
[21:26] * Lianhua bows again, hurries after
[21:26] * Victor looked down in the hole again, then back up at Harcroft. He nodded mutely and then set off in the direction that the farmer had told him to go.
[21:28] <~BigTentacruel> Harcroft releases one more Pokemon, a large kangaroo with fire dancing over its body in strange patterns, it and the three dog pokemon return to their positions guarding the hole and Harcroft leaves.

[21:43] <~BigTentacruel> One of the little creatures notices Piao-ju and waves its tail at it. It seems to be fanning at the balloon, who moves subtly towards a tree. "Poliwag~" it chitters.

[21:49] <~BigTentacruel> When Lianhua approaches, the Poliwag scatter somewhat, one hopping back into the stream. The other three hide behind a tree and peek out at her.
[21:50] * Victor sighed. "Here let me put it this way. I'm working with you right now. if I weren't working with you, would i be "wild?". and by working with you, do you consider me 'owned' by the group? to some people, the ownership of pokemon is just as alien as this concept I just mentioned. Hell, I don't even really think I own my partners, if any of them ever wanted to leave me to do their own
[21:50] * Victor thing, I'd respect that decision, but they choose to work with me as I choose to partner up with them."
[21:50] * Lianhua waves again, then takes Piao-ju by the little hand and leads him off.
[21:50] <~BigTentacruel> They wave their tails at Lianhua and then skitter back into the stream to goof off.
[21:50] * Ein looks over at the others, "huh? were you guys talking about something?"
[21:51] <Lianhua> "It's...well, yeah, I see what you mean, but you've got the pokemon you work with, who you can trust with anything, and then wild pokemon you don't know yet. I wouldn't ask one of those little blue guys to do anything for me, because we don't have that sort of bond."
[21:51] <Lianhua> "Honestly, you're all kinda wild to me now."
[21:51] * Lianhua shrugs.
[21:52] <~BigTentacruel> As you travel further along the stream, you notice a few fish pokemon swimming through it. Oddly enough, the stream seems much more pleasant than most areas of the town and its surroundings. It's like nothing is even wrong when you're here.

[21:59] * Ein and Nina both sniff the water first.
[21:59] * Victor checks the water as well, making sure there arent any visible contaminents
[22:01] <Lianhua> "So thirsty..."
[22:01] * Lianhua sits back after a few minutes, looking refreshed. "Mmmm."
[22:01] * Ein looks at Lianhua, "huh? are you ok?"
[22:02] <Ein> (err, scratch that)
[22:02] <Ein> (doesn't make sense now)
[22:03] * Ein looks at Nina, "does it smell, off to you too?" Nina nods, "what about you, Steve?" The Clefairy sniffs at the water.
[22:04] <Lianhua> "Tasted fine to me."
[22:04] <~BigTentacruel> Steve doesn't seem to notice anything.
[22:05] * Victor reaches down to cup his hands in the water, then takes a long sip.
[22:05] <Ein> "Guess I'm still used to the water from mount pyre..."  Ein replies, shrugging and starting to lap at it.  Nina seems a little more cautious now, deciding to hold off.
[22:06] * Lianhua gets up and brushes the dust off her dress. "I'll be ready to go when you are."
[22:08] <Ein> *steve drinks some water too
[22:09] <~BigTentacruel> (Are you guys heading towards the mines still?)
[22:09] <Lianhua> (yep)
[22:09] <Victor> ((yup))
[22:09] <Lianhua> (after that diversion)
[22:09] <Ein> After a few laps, Ein stops drinking, "definitely not as good as the water from mt Pyre..."
[22:09] * Victor finishes up, standing back up and turning back towards teh direction they were heading, instantly grabbing his sense of direction from his surroundings.

[22:12] <~BigTentacruel> Heading further along the stream, the trees begin to thin. Finally, you come past the trees and see a pretty sizable field before a cliff-side. A number of large holes similar to those you saw in town but smaller than the huge hole at Harcrofts are in this field.
[22:12] <~BigTentacruel> Before you is the mine entrance, boarded up for now but with a number of Cottonee lazing around by the entrance.
[22:13] <Lianhua> "So. Digletts, Cottonee..."
[22:13] <Ein> "now might be the time to bring out your new friend."  Ein said, turning to Victor.
[22:13] <Victor> Victor sighed, nodding. He pulled out the pokeball, throwing it on the ground. "Go! G.Diggles!"
[22:14] <Victor> He looked at the others when the ball hit the ground, the ghostly digglet popping out. "What? sounded appropriate."
[22:14] <~BigTentacruel> Yo, yo, yo, G. Diggles is in the hizzouse. The ghost Diglett pops out with a "Diiiig~" Upon noticing its surroundings, it quickly starts to quiver in fear. It stays close to Victor's left.
[22:14] <~BigTentacruel> *left leg.
[22:15] <Lianhua> "Gee...diggles?"
[22:15] * Victor seems clearly uncomfortable when the ghost clings to him. he's been warming up a bit more to the diglet, though the ghost thing still visibly creeped him out. "A-alright... sorry little guy..."
[22:16] * Ein Looks at the diglett, "Are you ok?" Nina promptly walks up to it, asking the same question.
[22:17] <~BigTentacruel> "Diiiglett. Diig Diglett. Lett Lett dig."
[22:17] <Lianhua> Piao-ju takes a look at Victor, then floats over and clings to his other leg. 'x'

[22:20] <Lianhua> Meanwhile, the Drifloon inches even closer to Victor. 'x'

[22:22] <~BigTentacruel> From the mine entrance, you hear a strange groaning noise. It sounds like it might be a living thing, but there's a strange grinding quality to it. "OOooooooooooo..."
[22:22] * Victor is still keeping up his cool demeanor, yet he looks almost pure white in the face, greatly contrasted by his bright red hair. "T-th-the f-f-fuck was t-t-that..." he said, somewhat dropping his usually more reserved mode of speech.
[22:22] * Ein instinctively drops to all fours, his hair standing up a little.
[22:24] <Lianhua> Piao-ju detaches from Victor and zoooooms back to Lianhua. ;x;
[22:24] <~BigTentacruel> It seems like it is coming from deep in the cave.
[22:24] <~BigTentacruel> At the sound of the noise, the Cottonee all scatter.
[22:24] <Lianhua> "T-that....probably wasn't just the wind."
[22:24] * Lianhua reaches out to try to grab a Cottonee as they go by. :3c
[22:25] <Ein> "sis, please ask our diglett friend if it knows what that was..."  Nina translates for him, asking the diglett.

[22:34] * Lianhua stands on tiptoes to see if she can get a better glimpse into the mine.
[22:34] <~BigTentacruel> The mine is plenty dark. It doesn't seem like there's anything to be scene. Wait... there's some kind of golden glow down there.
