  1. ">>" means another Anon in a thread contributed that part. Should be obvious by changes in writing style and maybe tense as well.
  2.
  3. >>You look up towards your new human friend as you walk him through the woodlands near your cottage
  4. >>An expression of pure amazement spreads across his face as he takes in the sheer variety of creatures surrounding him, both new and familiar
  5. >>Suddenly, a five-foot long snake emerges from the bushes lining the path, crossing in front of the both of you
  6. >>Calmly, you pause, waiting for it to pass
  7. >>Your friend, however, immediately proceeds to crouch down, grinning as he looks at it closely
  8. >>"Crikey," he exclaims, his tone excited. "This is a baby reticulated python, isn't it!?"
  9. "Um... yes, it is. You... like snakes?"
  10. >>"I love all animals," he answers energetically. "Especially reptiles! They're my life."
  11. >>Carefully, he leans in, tapping the ground. "G'day, mate."
  12. >>The snake flicks its tongue out in response, a signal you know to mean that it senses something
  13. >>What he does next shocks you
  14. >>Deftly, he slips one hand in, a third of the way down from the serpent's throat
  15. >>His other hand follows, sliding under the snake's body near its tail
  16. >>Gently picking up the snake, a look of pure concentration crosses his face as he looks it over
  17. >>Irritated at the sudden removal from the ground, the python bares its fangs
  18. "Oh... my. Um, you seem to be, well, upsetting it..."
  19. >>"Yeah," he answers, "reticulated pythons can get pretty grumpy. Just like back home!" He looks upon the snake's fangs with awe. "Just look at the length of those fangs. Perfect for punching through thick fur and feath-ngh!"
  20. >>Your new friend's diatribe is cut short by a grunt of pain as the snake sinks its teeth into his arm
  21. >>A gasp escapes your mouth as you watch
  22. "Are you okay?"
  23. >>"Nngh! Yeah... I'm fine," he answers, his reaction surprisingly calm for someone with a pair of snake fangs buried into him. "I think he hit bone," he adds excitedly. "Ha, look at him screwing those teeth in!"
  24. >>Your jaw drops as you watch this khaki-clad fellow take the snake bite in stride
  25. "A-Are you sure?"
  26.
  27. >"Yeah, I've got plenty more like it. I've been bitten, peed on, jumped on and whacked more times than I can count!"
  28. >He held up his hand under the belly of the snake for her to see
  29. >"No two fingers on my hand are the same, they've been snapped, split and chopped."
  30. "Oh, my..."
  31. >What an odd creature, to be so proud of his scars and so careless with his own bodily safety
  32. >"Now, I gotta wait for this little fella to let go because if I try to pull away there will be veins and arteries split everywhere"
  33. >He slowly lowered the creature to the ground and waited for it to release it's jaws before removing his arm
  34. >He seemed thrilled with the bite wounds in his arm, examining them
  35. "That must hurt, your arms seem to get a lot of... Abuse."
  36.
  37. >>"Well," he says, "one of the worst ones I ever got was here, on my right shoulder..."
  38. >>He unbuttons his khaki shirt, pulling it back to reveal a massive scar
  39. >>If you didn't know any better, you'd say it looked like his arm was chopped off, then reattached
  40. "How...?"
  41. >>"Well," he explains, "I was in a boat, going after this croc. But there were some rocks under the water, see..."
  42. >>He trails off as he notices you staring somewhere else
  43. >>"Fluttershy? What's the matter, darl?"
  44. >>You raise your hoof, pointing towards the perfectly round puncture scar just over his heart
  45. "...what about that one?"
  46.
  47. >He looked at it bemusedly for a moment as if he couldn't remember
  48. >"I think it might have something to do with how I came here"
  49. "Oh. Can I... Dress your wounds? Back at the cottage?"
  50.
  51. >He buttoned up his shirt as you asked
  52. >"Your cottage?"
  53. "Yes, it's where I care for my animals"
  54. >Steve perked up at this
  55. >"Yeah, okay mate"
  56. >You lead him to the edge of the woodlands where you cottage was located
  57. >On the way he made several excited comments about the wildlife here and back home
  58. >You opened the door and motioned him to follow you in
  59. >After he followed you in you went to prepare some bandages and rubbing alcohol
  60. >You gently hummed to yourself as you did so, happy that he didn't object to your care
  61. >When you were done getting all the necessary equipment you returned to the room you left him in
  62. >However he wasn't there anymore
  63. "Umm... Steve?"
  64. >You called out softly for him, not wanting to disturb any of the sleeping critters in your cottage
  65. >No response
  66. >You decided to go looking for him
  67. >After passing through a few rooms on the upper level of the house you found him admiring one of your birds
  68. "There you are, I got the bandages right here"
  69. >He didn't seem to take much notice as he turned to face you
  70. >"Back home we have these large spiders that eat birds. They launch themselves onto their prey, hang onto them with their front legs and drive their fangs right into them"
  71. >He did motions with his fingers copying how he was describing the front legs and fangs
  72. >You flinched slightly at how he described it
  73. >The wildlife where he came from sounded downright terrifying
  74. >Still it was good to see somepony(?) so passionate about animals
  75. "You could... Stay here and, ummm, share my wildlife with me, if you wanted to"
