  1. Long ago, the Ironclaw clan was one of the greatest and most respected castes among the Felentha. The were regarded not only for their raw physical strength and martial prowess, but their skill in forging blades and armour. Every aspect and member of the caste attempted to discover new methods of both creation of weaponry and the destruction of others, bolstering their own military might. To them, life was about battle and war – and when neither of those were happening, one was preparing for it.
  2. Eventually though, one specific individual rose above all the others – Leonin Ironclaw. He was one of the strongest, fastest, and most gifted warrior the clan had ever seen. Not only that, but he quickly learned the art of the forge, creating blades like which the clan had never seen, weapons of untold durability, flexibility and sharpness. Unlike the others, though, he saw the honour system and politics involved in clan life to be a bore, instead opting to take long journeys across through the wilderness to hone is craft in peace and quiet.
  3. Then came the crash. A giant rock flew down from the skies, it's flames burning bright as it descended from the heavens, slamming into the very earth not far from where Leonin had set up camp. Naturally he went to investigate, and within this rock he noticed and odd shine; a metal he had both never seen and worked. Seeing it as a sign from the gods themselves, he worked this metal, forging it into the finest blade he had ever created. A four foot long broad, heavy blade, perfectly balanced, sharpened on both sides. The handle and pommel were designed for function over form, making them look rather dull and boring compared to some of the more elaborate blades of his clan, though the entire thing shone brightly beneath the light. One edge of the blade was perfectly straight – sharpened to a near impossible sharpness. The other held fifty or so serrations, perfect for sawing or cutting through near any material.
  4. When Leonin returned to his clan to show off the new weapon, some were sceptical of his story. A stone that fell from the skies and carried such a steel was, of course, rather difficult to believe. What could not be denied, of course, was the sheer strength of this forged blade. It served him well in many battles, and eventually, this blade came to be known as the Skyclaw – and to honour it's creator, he too was given this title, and the Skyclaw family was born.
  5. It was tradition to hand the blade down to the firstborn of your family, and throughout it's history, has found itself in the hands of many different warriors. Eventually though, it found it's way into the hands of Thalrin father... and when his father succumed to disease, it became his, the only heir to the Skyclaw legacy.
  6. Thalrin himself was rather odd for not only his clan, but his people in general. He had no intention or desire to collect this so-called 'honour' that his people used – in fact, he didn't quite understand it all that well. To him, the world was far more interesting than something to simply fight in and over. He went along with it for the first few years of his life, learning to become a soldier and warrior for the clan, though his father's death changed him. What was disease, anyhow? What caused a person's body to, one moment, be perfectly healthy, then the next, dead? It was a question that puzzled him, and he vowed to himself that he would understand not only disease, but the very nature of the world and how it all managed to work.
  7. As customary, Thalrin left to go out in the wilds for his first 'Journey of discovery'. As Leonin had so many years ago, the Skyclaws intend to follow his methods – to journey out into the wilderness and discover something great there. Of course, Thalrin had no intention of looking for strange metals in which to build blades with. Instead, he spent the better part of the year testing chemicals and components, beginning to understand how various compounds all interacted with each other.
  8. Of course, the clan was not at all impressed with his efforts. They branded him as a coward, a weakling. And, of course, Thalrin's less than adequate social skills did not help him convince them otherwise. He was all but cast out, sent on a new 'Journey of Discovery'... And told not to return unless he managed to surpass Leonin Skyclaw himself.
