- commanders usually wear bright colors in their nation's colors. their clothes are, of course, fancier and of a higher grade quality than issued to your average soldier - and more durable, as well. commanders tend to wear stiffened leather armor underneath their clothes.
- armored units are beginning to be phased out - armor is usually ceremonial, and used for the elite that know how to operate under the weight. your average soldier will have some chain mail as a part of their uniform, or - in poorer or lighter armored armies - will simply go without.
- - irkallans have access to guns and thus have lighter armor, leather and chain mail are far more common.
- - sharans have access to magic. commanders w/ magic squads? magic commander
- - sharans also have access to dracolisks
- - irkallans have mostly just... horses? but weathered, slightly stockier horses i suppose
- - irkallans have a tactical advantage among the mountains
- - irkallans have a nice climate mmm
- - common aspects
- + sharan commanders usually have an outfit consisting of a waistcoat, overcoat, and sash. however, personalization is not uncommon (and kind of encouraged)
- + irkallans usually have a button-down waistcoat (as opposed to the buttons+strings across style of the sharan empire) and only rarely wear coats. capes are not rare.
- + sharans are generally more dramatic in general like, you want shiny gleaming armor? fuckin go for it nerd
- magic-using commanders often
- - dress lighter, they need room to breathe for their magic types
- - have a small cabal of people (or just themselves)
- - theyre infrequent but useful to the sharan army
- - people who use elemental magic are best
- - maybe sometimes they're paired up with some normal people to keep an eye on them and make sure they dont torch their own side? dunno
- wtf are irkallan/sharan colors. who knows
