  2. "Noted." I won't egg him further about it. If he's a member of Breakaway's crew, he's gotta be good at what you do, so I can trust him to do his job, and he doesn't like talking...
  3.
  4. "Also, I think I wasn't the only one to expect you to come here. The place was tighter than a duck's ass. Accordion gate, motion sensors, all that fancy jazz. Though I can help you get past some of those..."
  5.
  6. I give him the locations of the traps and detectors I've spotted.
  7.
  8. *them
  9.
  10. Scratch that last part.
  11.
  12. "Also, I suspect they were expecting you as well. I didn't spot anything different, but there was an accordion gate out front. If they hid stuff around it was well hidden, but I personally suspect it's there."
  13.
  14. tubes|gm
  15. Breakway nods. "Gate and night guard is standard. Not being able to spot any sensors is a problem, though it shouldn't be a problem. Well, consider this your internship. What do you think we should do?" He nods at Vigour, who stutters almost imperceptibly as he takes a step forward, and then explodes into action, mantling over the side of the parking garage, four feet up. Breakaway scoffs at
  16.
  17. this. "Don't be fooled by his silent-but-deadly shtick. Man's a showoff."
  18.
  19. ((Four stories up*))
  20.
  21. Dalenacio|MisD
  22. "Alright, My first objective would be to try to reach the surveillance room. Sensors aren't much good if there's no one to watch the readings. We stun the guys manning it, then we're going to have a lot more freedom of movement."
  23.
  24. "To do this, I think it'd be a good idea to cloak one of you with my power so you can avoid sensors and cameras until you get to the room and take out the people in there. Does that sound good to you?"
  25.
  26. tubes|gm
  27. "Hmmm. Not a bad idea. I've studied the plans, of course, but where do you think such a place might be? This museum is pretty small, so it's entirely feasible that they have an off-site security company."
  28.
  29. Dalenacio|MisD
  30. "I've spotted a room that's a very likely candidate. "Employees Only", with what looked like a shift change of guards. It was pretty small, so I don't really see what else it could have been."
  31.
  32. "I think that's someone should go. I'll tell you how to get to it, but I'm not going to be able to take them out myself."
  33.
  34. tubes|gm
  35. Hmm hmm, I see, I see. And so, what's the plan after taking out the security? As I said, they could have outside security that's tripped by automation." Breakaway seems to be enjoying his 'teacher' persona
  36.
  37. Dalenacio|MisD
  38. "I don't think so. If it was automated, guards would trigger it while patrolling the halls. Hugely inconvenient. When we're done with the surveillance room, if that's what it is, we start with standard procedure. Stun guards as we see them, and start making out with the goods."
  39.
  40. "Do you have comms by the way? It would be nice if I could de-activate my power once you're inside the guard room, so that the phasing effect doesn't hold you back"
  41.
  42. "Also, it would be hugely convenient."
  43.
  44. tubes|gm
  45. "Ah, ah, don't discount the escape! They could easily put security measures on the cases or the exhibit itself. I'm no tinker, and neither are you, so we'll have to be quick on our way out, since we'll have to trip it to get the goods. Ah yes, comms. Hmmm. Here, take this, I'll get you one of our specialty hookups once we get back to the hideout."
  46.
  47. He hands you a standard radio. "Keep it simple, no voice if you can help it. By the way, you're coming in with me. Gonna have to see you in action!"
  48.
  49. Dalenacio|MisD
  50. "Alright. By the way, I had a little request to ask of you. I really, *really* want to rub this one in. The irony of this heist is supreme, and demands a similar amount of gloating, and I just had this great idea. Something unprecedented in the burglar universe.
  51.
  52. "We take a selfie, right in front of this very museum, with all the loot we've stolen, and post it to PRT Facebook page."
  53.
  54. "Of course, we make sure they can't track it back to us, but just for the shitstorm this is gonna make, it's going to be priceless."
  55.
  56. tubes|gm
  57. "Hmm Hmm. I like it. Vim can make sure they can't track the pictures back to us. Since they've apparently decided to let us run free, we might as well rub their noses in it. Anyway, how do we get the loot out?"
  58.
  59. Dalenacio|MisD
  60. "Well, it depends if we're trying to be sneaky or not. I think it'd be best to have the van or whatever the getaway vehicle is in this alley. We get things quietly and efficiently, then pose and smile. The picture'll be up before the robbery hits the news. You're a master thief, so I'd guess you'd have some tricks up your sleeve to avoid tripping t
  61.
  62. he alarms on the exhibits. If we mess up, we go for broke. park the van right in front and scramble as fast as we can."
  63.
  64. "The picture will be in a hurry, but it'll be in front, and it might just be even more ballsy than it already is, so that works too."
  65.
  66. tubes|gm
  67. "Good enough. Lets go then, we're burning night-light. Unlike Vigour, the stairs are perfectly fine for me." As he steps out of the lights of the garage, and passes through a shadow on the way to the stairwell, there's a brief moment where his outline is blurry, almost indecipherable. Curious.
  68.
  69. Dalenacio|MisD
  70. I follow along, excitement rising. This isn't like an average burglary. This is the first big thing I'm ever going to do on the cape scene, and I am eager to get to the action.
  71.
  72. tubes|gm
  73. You follow Breakaway as he looks back and forth across the building a bit, before simplying walking up to the revolving door at the front of the building. You can barely make him out in the darkness, his form better hidden than Vigours would have been in his night-camo. "Hey, give a looksie over here, would you?"
  74.
  75. Dalenacio|MisD
  76. I look over at what Breakway is pointing my attention too, ignoring his slightly unsettling appearance.
  77.
  78. tubes|gm
  79. As soon as your gaze crosses over him, he bursts into a man-shape cloud of shadow and smoke, and proceeds to cram himself into the gap between the door and the wall. It takes some effort, but eventually he pops out the otherside and rematerilzes as a man, where he pulls out a lockpick of somekind and turns the lock with little effort. He motions for you to follow him in.
  80.
  81. Dalenacio|MisD
  82. I can't help but think that was cool as hell. I follow behind with a small grin.
  83.
  84. tubes|gm
  85. You follow in, with Breakaway keeping to the shadows, still barely visible. He motions for you to hug the wall with him.
  86.
  87. Dalenacio|MisD
  88. I do it right away without asking questions. I lower my breath and make myself small, just in case.
  89.
  90. tubes|gm
  91. Just as you hug the wall, a security guard, whistling, comes around the corner. Breakaway pulls out his taser thing from earlier, and with deft skill jumps the guard, hitting him with the prongs of the contraption. The Guard's eyes roll back in his head as he falls over, breakaway capturing him and slowly lowering him to the ground. "Miss Direction, why don't you use your power on this guy?
  92.
  93. Might save us some trouble getting into the security room." While he says this, he appropriates the man's keys and keycard.
  94.
  95. Dalenacio|MisD
  96. That is a brilliant idea. I use my power on the knocked out guard, and as he disappears, I take on his appearance, complete with uniform, cap, and big freckled nose.
  97.
  98. Using his voice, I whisper "Alright, now I should be able to get in the room. Can you lend me that taser for a second? I'll get rid of the guards on camera duty."
  99.
  100. tubes|gm
  101. "It's not quite a taser, but sure." He hands it to you. "Trigger is here, metal prongs have to touch bare skin for maximum effectiveness or it might not work." You lead over to the security room.
  102.
  103. Dalenacio|MisD
  104. Whistling the same tune the guard was using, I abruptly stop. I stand in silence for a few seconds, then walk over to the security room door. I rasp it quietly with my knuckle.
  105.
  106. "guys?" I whisper "let me i, I wanna check something on the screens real quick."
  107.
  108. ((let me in*))
  109.
  110. tubes|gm
  111. Someone turns the door on the other side. "Damn it, Jim, I told you to stop forgetting your keycard in here." He doesn't react upon seeing you. "And whattya wispering for? I'm not gonna let you look up your japanese cartoons or whatever on the company computers."
  112.
  113. Dalenacio|MisD
  114. "stop messing around goddammit!" I whisper nervously "I'm pretty sure I heard someone over by the Pirate Exhibition. I'd rather check on the screens than go there myself, in case it's a cape. And they're called Hentai dammit."
  115.
  116. tubes|gm
  117. "Right, whatever." He steps back to let you in and heads back over to his desk. "The hell is a cape gonna want from a museum? It's not like we've got pirate gold or something on display. " Despite his comments on your cartoon pornography habits, he doesn't seem to be doing much better himself, as he's got what looks like a multiplayer rpg of some kind on one of the monitors.
  118.
  119. Dalenacio|MisD
  120. While he closes the door behind me, I draw the stun gun and place the prongs on the back of his neck, then activate the trigger before he gets a chance to react.
  121.
  122. "I don't know, Bob, why *would* they?"
  123.
  124. I leave him slumped in his chair. I he waked up, he might just think he fell asleep.
  125.
  126. I gently close the door behind me, then head back towhere Breakaway was.
  127.
  128. When I do, I whisper: "Great news. Apparently, they weren't expecting us. The guard had no idea why anyone would want to steal from the pirate exhibit or anywhere else.
  129.
  130. I think this might be easier than I thought."
  131.
  132. tubes|gm
  133. Similar to before, the guard's eyes roll back in his head and he propmtly falls into a deep sleep. Breakaway responds: "Well, they don't exactly hire night guards for intellectual capability. Lead on."
  134.
  135. Dalenacio|MisD
  136. We move to the first room with me still possessing Jim's appearance, the aforementioned Pirate Exhibit.
  137.
  138. tubes|gm
  139. It's got a stylish skulls and crossbones signage over the entrance to the exhibit. Thieves, Robbers, and Pirates of the 16th and 17th century. Groovy. The accordian gate is closed and locked.
  140.
  141. Breakaway pulls out the keys he liberated from the actual guard, still cloaked somewhere in the lobby, and undoes the lock on the gate, pulling it back.
  142.
  143. Dalenacio|MisD
  144. "By the way, it occurs to me, do you think we could the alarms off from the surveillance room? I'd guess it would be password protected or something, but that guy looked like the kind to keep a post-it with the code.
  145.
  146. Also, if we do disable them, do you think the system will detect an anomaly and report it? That could be inconveninet."
  147.
  148. tubes|gm
  149. "Probably, but unless you want to go through the trouble of spoofing the signal, it'll be better than leaving everything on and dealing with an active alarm. Those usually go to police. Hmmm, I have a better idea." Breakaway makes his way back to the security room, and the lights go out. Emergency lights come on, and Breakaway comes back. "They'll still come to investigate, but we have 30
  150.
  151. minutes to an hour instead of 15. Let's get moving. He taps that button on the side of his belt.
  152.
  153. Dalenacio|MisD
  154. "Alright. I guess that means we're in a hurry." I throw all the small and easy to carry things in my many pouches. I also look for a bag or something that would let me carry the heavier things without too much trouble. The entire time, I'm careful not to scratch any of the priceless historical artifacts.
  155.
  156.
  157. tubes|gm
  158. Vigour comes in with a hand-cart. Right. Breakaway picks and chooses things he likes, making sure to grab some pirate gold which they do indeed seem to have, despite what the security guard says. A flintlock pistol, a pirate's hat, an ancient chest and some doubloons, the rapier of a famous highwayman, all goes on the cart. Vigour grabs the more obviously valuable stuff, paintings, gold,
  159.
  160. jewelry. "We may be on a time schedule, but take whatever you like. I have a connection for the easily convertible stuff, so you'll get a cut of good old american dollars regardless."
  161.
  162. Dalenacio|MisD
  163. Whenever I see something I like, I take it. I mostly go for the interesting baubles, stuff like what Breakaway is getting. An ornate dagger, a gold locket, and so on.
  164.
  165. I also pick up a few of the valuable-looking items.
  166.
  167. And that Arsène Lupin bust I mentioned earlier? I am totally nicking that. I'm a fan of Lupin.
  168.
  169. tubes|gm
  170. The bust of lupin is a bit heavy, but you work it on to the cart. Being a pirate queen didn't sound too bad. Actually, it sounded fantastic. You wonder if people will notice if you go out wearing a piece of eight on a silver chain. "Alright, time to go. Maintence guys are going to be coming soon, wondering why the security guards haven't called them about the outtage. Hm, a bit of crudity to
  171.
  172. go along with our robbery." He pulls out a small can of black spraypaint, and spraypaints his calling card on the wall. A large B with an arrow through it, then produces a pretty nice cell phone. "Shall we take the selfie right here, then with this and our treasure as the backdrop?"
  173.
  174. Dalenacio|MisD
  175. "Wait, let me add my own symbol first" Taking the spraycan, I spray a large question mark, with the lower end replaced with an arrow pointing down.
  176.
  177. "And now, let's rock the picture."
  178.
  179. I make a silly pose, wearing a pirate hat and priceless historic necklace.
  180.
  181. tubes|gm
  182. "Pha, you've totally stolen my emblem," He seems a little irritated at sharing the credit to such an extent, but doesn't say anything further and takes the picture, carrying a rapier in one hand and wearing the hat of some famous stagecoach robber. You doubletime it to the van and start loading stuff up right as you see a car from the maintenence company pull up, but before you see anyone get
  183.
  184. out, Vigour slams the door shut, hops in the driver's seat, and peals out.
  185.
  186. Dalenacio|MisD
  187. I wait for a second before saying "Man, that was *awesome*! I've never had a robbery this fun! And I can't wait for the image to make it online! Whowee!" I laugh, as all the stress leaves my body at once.
  188.
  189. "By the way, it's been great working with you, Breakaway. That was amazing. Now, to how much does the captain estimate the value of the booty?"
  190.
  191. I say with my best pirate accent.
  192.
  193. tubes|gm
  194. "Hmm (he seems to like saying that a lot), well, liquidating assets like this is no easy feat, so it'll take a couple of weeks to estimate the value. In the mean time, you can pick out some pieces you'd like to keep, and I can give you a cut of the front end payment from my contacts who handle this sort of thing?"
  195.
  196. (there's no sign of pursuit - you were far away from the site by the time you heard sirens)
  197.
  198. Dalenacio|MisD
  199. "Aye aye, cap'n. That sounds great. Man, I don't even care about the money we're making off of this. I'm just really looking forward to the social medias losing it tomorrow, and of course, whatever the next job will be. Coming to Dallas to meet you was the right decision, and I hope I've proved my honesty and good faith enough to prolong this co-op

  202.
  203. tubes|gm
  204. "I believe this will be both a profitable and entertaining venture, Miss Direction. If you don't mind me asking, how did you get to the museum in the first place?"
  205.
  206. Dalenacio|MisD
  207. "I have something of a mobile base. I left it about three streets away from the museum. don't take us too far by the way, I still have to walk, though the jog will do me good."
  208.
  209. "Unless you're inviting this innocent young lady to accompany you to our thieve's hideout?" I ask with humor in my tone and raised eyebrows, though the effect is probably lost behind my mask.
  210.
  211. tubes|gm
  212. "Hmm...Very well. 3 streets away is far too close - the police are likely to canvas the area. It looks like this gentleman will indeed have to invite the 'innocent young lady' back to his lair. We'll recover your vehicle in the morning."||
