  3. So right now there’s this problem with navy – subs are relatively useless.
  4. This change intends to solve that by introducing two counter-loops into the naval stage:
  5. T1 Subs beat Surface ships -> T2 Subhunters beat subs -> Surface ships beat Subhunters
  6. However you cant change subs without changing torpedo launchers so:
  7. Torpedo launchers beat subs -> Surface Ships beat torpedo Launchers -> Subs beat Ships

  9. Now this might seem like a daunting task but I have worked everything out:
  10. By assigning specific stats to each of the components in this cycle, then ensuring its function by adding torpedo defence in appropriate places:
  11. T1 Subs have high dps and hp per mass, a high speed and a relatively short range.
  12. Sub hunters get low hp per mass, medium dps and torpedo flares, same speed as subs and a longer range.
  13. Surface ships stay as is, but instead get low dps depth charges and one-one torpedo defences, with the a similar range as subhunters.

  15. The results:
  16. Subs overwhelm the anti torpedoes of surface ships, who can’t kill them fast enough with their low dps depth charges, so subs beat surface ships.
  17. Sub hunters however can kite the subs and their torpedo flares can stop large amounts of torpedoes, vastly increasing their effectiveness vs subs, so they beat subs.

Surface ships can stop the relatively low amount of torpedoes coming from subhunters, don’t get kited by them and their depth charges negate the strong anti torpedoes of the subhunters, thanks to their hp, the surface ships can tank the remainder of the damage and kill the low hp subs hunters with their low dps depth charges.

  20. And so the cycle is complete.

  22. However at T1 the subs could become too strong since there is no t2 counter to them. Of course this could be fixed by adding some torpedo defense to frigates, letting them live longer but I prefer instead the fact that they are of comparable prices and that subs are going to be used more often.
  23. However torpedo launcher start to have a problem dealing with the buffed subs, but this can be fixed by adding some torpedo defences to them, alternatively, making their HP higher so that they can survive longer vs frigates.
  24. T2 torpedo launchers should counter All subs, and instead be countered by everything that outranges them (surface ships). To this end they also receive very high hp per mass.

  26. This also enables their use as a sort of more inconvenient substitute to frigates – they can both soak up damage from the enemy navy, but torpedo launchers are a little better at it, for the cost of having vulnerable build power having to build them, and not being mobile.
