  13. [2011-11-12 13:00:07] <Daedalize> The screwdriver keeps going until it reaches an intersection where.... it stops rolling, rotates in place, then rolls away out of sight.
  14. [2011-11-12 13:00:59] <NullAshton> Dmitri hums. No sudden change in gravity. He lets go of the doorknob, before running after the screwdriver.

  16. [2011-11-12 13:03:26] <Daedalize> On coming around the corner, Dmitri sees the screwdriver rolling away fairly fast. It comes to rest in front of a ventilation grate on the ground, then...
  17. [2011-11-12 13:03:49] <Daedalize> It rises off of the ground, and begins unscrewing the grate, as if someone were holding it.

  19. [2011-11-12 13:04:37] <NullAshton> Dmitri takes out his pistol just in case, having it at the ready. He reaches over and grabs the screwdriver with his free hand, looking cautiously in the grate.
  20. [2011-11-12 13:05:25] <Daedalize> As Dmitri reaches for it, the tool suddenly swings around and swipes at his hand!

  39. [2011-11-12 13:11:48] <Daedalize> Ryan almost manages to pin it under his boot, but it squirms out and continues rolling off. Dmitri lags behind Ryan a bit as they pursue the screwdriver.

  44. [2011-11-12 13:15:25] <Daedalize> They're still in Engineering, not near anything of particular importance. A transit corridor.
  45. [2011-11-12 13:15:59] <NullAshton> Dmitri keeps chasing after. He attempts to chase it into a dead end with his gun, shooting at one direction to try and make it flee in the other.
  46. [2011-11-12 13:16:06] <Wombat> Ryan charges in. "Close the door behind you!" He pulls one of the hard-shell ammo cases off his harness, and dumps the belt onto the ground. Now he has something to catch it.
  47. [2011-11-12 13:16:15] <NullAshton> Assuming of course there aren't any people he could easily accidentally hit.
  48. [2011-11-12 13:16:18] <Wombat> "Cease fire, cease fire! You'll get us both killed!"
  49. [2011-11-12 13:16:46] <Daedalize> There's nobody around, but the shot nearly clips Ryan.
  50. [2011-11-12 13:17:12] <TheRaven> Taggart hears a gunshot, and pulls out a radio, paging Ryan. <<Shots fired, what's going on down there?>>

  52. [2011-11-12 13:17:45] <Daedalize> The room appears to be some sort of janitorial storage. There's a clean-up cart and shelves of various chemicals and cleaning materials.

  57. [2011-11-12 13:18:16] <NullAshton> Dmitri hmmphs. Well that doesn't work as well. At least it attracts other people to help them. He keeps the gun out for now but lowered, going into the doors entrance and not letting the screwdriver escape through the door.

  68. [2011-11-12 13:21:18] <NullAshton> Dmtri closes the janitors closet door assuming there's a light inside, so he can't out. He reports the location of the closet over the radio for people to come help, before helping to search for the mysterious moving screwdriver.

  73. [2011-11-12 13:23:01] <Daedalize> Neatly sliding the cart out of the way, Ryan reveals another grate, the screwdriver frantically spinning to get it open. It already has three of the screws out, and the fourth is nearly there.

  78. [2011-11-12 13:25:28] <Daedalize> The boot holds the grate in place, but the screw comes out, and the screwdriver leaps away from his hand. It's floating freely now, and swings down to swipe at Ryan's leg.

  82. [2011-11-12 13:27:59] <Daedalize> As before, the blow glances off without doing much damage, but the reflexive reaction to the blow causes Ryan to draw back his leg, allowing the grate cover to fall down. The screwdriver drops to the floor and makes for the now-open vent.

  88. [2011-11-12 13:29:28] <Daedalize> Dmitri's leap of faith is successful, and he graps the hilt of the screwdriver, just as Ryan's ammo box swings down and pins its blade-end.

  90. [2011-11-12 13:29:57] <Wombat> "Gotcha! Stuff it in here!"
  91. [2011-11-12 13:30:14] <Wombat> Ryan dumps out the mundane screwdrivers, and holds the box with the lid open a crack.
  92. [2011-11-12 13:31:14] <NullAshton> Dmitri puts it into the bag when the screwdrivers are dumped out. He then puts the pistol away for the moment, putting the grate back up and screwing the screws back in with one of the mundane screwdrivers.
  93. [2011-11-12 13:31:45] <Wombat> Ryan secures the ammo box lid, then uses a spare strap of webbing on his harness to tie the lid shut.
  94. [2011-11-12 13:32:02] <Wombat> <<Murphy to control, Screwdriver is secure. It was attempting to escape into the vents, but we caught it."

  96. [2011-11-12 13:32:13] <Daedalize> The previously-active screwdriver makes no move to stop them, and lies dormant in the box once secured.
  97. [2011-11-12 13:32:28] <Daedalize> The vent is secured without trouble, as well.
  98. [2011-11-12 13:32:30] <Wombat> <<However, it has stopped moving.>>
  99. [2011-11-12 13:33:43] <Daedalize> <<Good work. We'll have someone from Research sent over to retrieve it. Over and out.>>

  101. [2011-11-12 13:34:08] <Wombat> Ryan exits the closet, picks up the ammo belt he dumped, and drapes it over his shoulder.

  103. [2011-11-12 13:34:37] <Daedalize> Shortly thereafter, a researcher arrives, jogging down the hall.
  104. [2011-11-12 13:34:49] <NullAshton> "It might be. There still might be something inside the vents that was controlling the screwdriver, explaining the behavior to open up a grate."
  105. [2011-11-12 13:35:08] <Daedalize> "Uhm, I was sent to retrieve the screwdriver?"
  106. [2011-11-12 13:35:11] <Wombat> Ryan hands him the ammo box. "It was trying to escape into the vents, but we grabbed it and put it in here. It went dormant, though."
  107. [2011-11-12 13:35:37] <Daedalize> "Ah, yes, thank you. I'll make sure to examine it right away."
  108. [2011-11-12 13:35:52] <NullAshton> Dmitri heads out of the closet, going back to the first vent it tried to open up.
  109. [2011-11-12 13:36:08] <Daedalize> He nods to the other two, then hurries off back toward Research.
  110. [2011-11-12 13:37:04] <Wombat> "Well, that was exciting..."
  111. [2011-11-12 13:37:10] <Wombat> Ryan sighs, and returns to his patrol.

  113. [2011-11-12 13:37:28] <Daedalize> Said vent remains covered, save for the partially-unscrewed bits from earlier.
  114. [2011-11-12 13:37:31] <Wombat> "Not sure we can fit in there."
  115. [2011-11-12 13:38:06] <NullAshton> Dmirti nods to him at that suggestion. "Yes, that sounds good. If possible." He puts an ear to the vent, seeing if he can hear any sort of abnormal breathing or the like echoing through it. Or other audible sounds of vent occupation.
  116. [2011-11-12 13:38:21] <Daedalize> The vents are too small for a person to fit into, only about half a meter high.
  117. [2011-11-12 13:38:36] <TheRaven> He pulls out a radio and dials for Engineering. <<You guys got anything that we could search the vent systems with? Just had an incident with a mobile screwdriver.>>
  118. [2011-11-12 13:40:42] <Daedalize> There's a short period of silence before the response comes back. "We've got some remote-controlled bots that we use to clean them out now and then, but that's about it.>>
