BC-8 (or SV-8 , stands for the sniper rifle or sniper rifle ) - Russia's newest sniper rifle , designed in the PCU .

Development of rifles was conducted under conditions of high security. On creation of the rifle was officially announced on July 18 in 2011 [3] .

Technical and tactical characteristics of the rifle are: dimensions rifle without optical sight: 1025x96x185 [2] . Weight without telescopic sights - 6.5 kg. [2] The firing range is 1.5 km using an optical sight [2] . Used shop for 5 rounds [2] .

For firing of the rifle to be used cartridge caliber 8.6 mm [4] . The only patron of this caliber in Russia is the sniper cartridge .338 Lapua Magnum [3] . It is planned to introduce a special type of ammo SO-8 and several modifications [2] . Earlier, the Russian Army special forces and national caliber rifles under such was not.

From 1 July 2011 such a rifle is in service for at least one rifle company in the state ( 59th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade ) Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade [5] . Planned to enter mass production BC-8 and use the weapon on a par with the SVD and SALT-96 [3] .
