  1. Abandoned by Disney game
  2.
  3. I'm thinking of making a first person point and click game based on the Abandoned by Disney story. In this game, you play as the guy from the story (who will be named Ralph in the game) and you go around and explore Mowgeli's Palace. While exploring, you need to collect pieces of a diary which gives you clues as to why the place became abandoned. When you collect all of the pieces, you find out the following:
  4.
  5. 1. The place that the palace is located in had a curse placed on it hundreds of years ago by the local people. This curse affects people you do not use the land for the benefit of its inhabitants. Disney falls under this category for destroying homes and not making back the money spent on the resort's construction.
  6.
  7. 2. The writer of the diary had heard stories related to the curse by the locals and tried to tell their superiors about it but they were hesitant to believe them because the curse wasn't immedietly affecting them, therefore they had very little reason to worry about it. As the weeks passed on, the curse slowly took its toll on the place.
  8.
  9. 3. The first sign of the curse was the health of the employees. Some of them contracted tropical related illnesses and the ones who didn't were forced to double their workload and as a result, became overstressed. This resulted in some of the employees out right quitting their jobs. Disney covered this up by hiring anyone they could find regardless of the person's overall situation. In other words, they practially gave out jobs.
  10.
  11. 4. The sceond sign of the curse was when the vultures started attacking the wildlife and a few of the guests at the resort. This sign is based on an incident that happened at Disney's Discovery Island back in 1989 where Discovery Island came under controversy due to rifles being fired at hawks, vultures beat to death, and the destruction of ibis and egret eggs and nests by employees.
  12.
  13. 5. The third sign of the curse was the animatronics (which is what the inverted Mickey is revealed to be), acting as though they had a mind of their own. The animatronics had enough strength to, as the diary writer described it, "Hug a child so tightly to the point where their bones would get crushed,"
  14.
  15. These ideas may change as I think about the idea more and more but I think they do a good job of explaining why the resort became abandoned.
