  1. #NervSiberia
  2. Episode 11
  3.
  4. [19:45] <@Night10194> Alright! When last our intrepid party met!
  5. [19:45] <@Night10194> Dismemberment. SO MUCH DISMEMBERMENT.
  6. [19:45] <@Night10194> Recovery of an intact enemy S2 Organ!
  7. [19:45] <@Night10194> Tokyo-3 was attacked! Ivan lost his right arm!
  8. [19:47] <@Night10194> The base lost several units of soldiers!
  9. [19:47] <@Night10194> Oh. Wait. That's really bad.
  10. [19:48] <@Night10194> One unfortunate turn. While he's stable, and capable of consciousness, the extent of his injuries is great enough to make talking to Ivan basically impossible for the next week or two at least, as he's so seriously doped up on painkillers to keep him out of shock.
  11. [19:49] <@Night10194> However, the fact that he didn't go into a coma and the wounds were cauterized by being energy weapon hits means his long-term prognosis is good, save for losing the arm. A clean loss, at least.
  12. [19:54] <@Night10194> In other events, General Kurinov is being called away for a meeting with other NERV Branch Commanders to discuss what to do if another creature of such (or greater) power is encountered.
  13. [19:54] <@Night10194> Also to yell at them for moar UN funding as well as Russian.
  14. [19:55] <@Night10194> In the aftermath of the battle, you notice a lot of new faces in the halls... These were the heaviest losses suffered yet by NERV/Russia in combat, and yet they've been replaced almost immediately.
  15. [19:56] <@Night10194> We'll be resuming a few hours after we left off last time, once everyone has made it back to the quarters.
  16. [19:57] <ElsaFaustus> I sit at the table, glass of Tang at hand as I write an after action report.
  17. [19:58] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya is sitting with Elsa. Doing homework for … eenie meenie miney, history class.
  18. [20:01] <Griet> Griet is also at the table, theoretically doing homework. Mostly just staring at the page.
  19. [20:02] <@Night10194> Natasha will arrive with her brother, quieter than usual, but not in hysterics, at least.
  20. [20:03] <ElsaFaustus> I sip my drink. "You okay, Griet?"
  21. [20:03] <Dostov> "Do you want something to eat, Natasha?" He asks quietly.
  22. [20:04] <@Night10194> She nods a bit. Nathaniel will arrive when he wishes. Like a wizard.
  23. [20:04] <Griet> "Mostly. Just thinking about today." She stops at saying more, not wanting to upset Dostov and Natasha.
  24. [20:05] <TanyaIvanova> "What about you –?" Tanya looks at Dostov. "I mean. …Sandwiches can't set the kitchen on fire so I don't really need supervision and then you could sit and I could make them for you and Natasha...?"
  25. [20:06] * Dostov gives his sister a pat on the head, then looks to Tanya. "I'd...rather be doing something. You could help me if you want to."
  26. [20:07] <Griet> Maybe we should make something for the other families? The ones who...well....
  27. [20:07] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya is done with homework now. She stands up and joins Dostov, with a smile that's supposed to be reassuring. "I'll help."
  28. [20:07] <Griet> Mass baking is sure to keep you busy, i could even try and set the flour on fire if you want.
  29. [20:11] <Dostov> So, mass baking? Dostov isn't going to object right now.
  30. [20:11] <TanyaIvanova> Mass baking sounds awesome.
  31. [20:12] * NathanielDurond enters from outside, shutting the door behind him softly. He looks generally calm but weary.
  32. [20:12] <ElsaFaustus> I'll just stick to my report and studying the previous battle, focused on my duty.
  33. [20:12] <TanyaIvanova> Tank, Spank, and Bobo – and Elsa and Natasha can make comments on how everyone else is crazy.
  34. [20:12] * Griet goes through the cabinets and starts pulling out anything that looks like it might have something vaguely to do with baking, up to and including the cheese grater, potatoes and a suspiciously old jar of cocktail olives.
  35. [20:13] <TanyaIvanova> *confused head-tilt* "…are we making potato-olive cookies?"
  36. [20:13] <Dostov> "...uh, no."
  37. [20:14] * Griet looks at Dostov expectantly. "Will this work?"
  38. [20:15] <Dostov> He looks over what shes collected, and separates it into what they can use and what needs to be put back. Sorry, no potatoes, cocktail olives or cheese graters.
  39. [20:15] <Griet> What about the funions?
  40. [20:15] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Major, are you okay? Is something wrong?"
  41. [20:16] <@Night10194> She looks a bit worried by his silence; he looks like he's bearing bad news.
  42. [20:16] <Dostov> Funions? Of cour- wait, no.
  43. [20:16] * Griet puts down the mayonnaise jar next to the chocolate chips and turns to face the Major.
  44. [20:17] <ElsaFaustus> I salute the major, wondering if he's here to debrief us.
  45. [20:19] <NathanielDurond> "I am fine Natasha, just tired from a long day." Nathaniel returns Elsa's salute. "As you were. Is Dostov up to cooking lessons again?"
  46. [20:20] <ElsaFaustus> I get back to work.
  47. [20:24] <@Night10194> Natasha: "What can I do to help?"
  48. [20:28] * Griet surveys the ingredients she's pulling out "hmmn.......onions?"
  49. [20:28] <@Night10194> Natasha: "I...don't think you put onions in baking."
  50. [20:28] <Dostov> "Have you baked anything besides an apple pie before?"
  51. [20:29] <Griet> "Lion."
  52. [20:29] <Griet> "and potatoes"
  53. [20:29] <@Night10194> Natasha: "You don't eat lion..."
  54. [20:29] <ElsaFaustus> "Baked lion..? Where do you get an oven big enough for that..?"
  55. [20:29] <Griet> "Warthog, Impala....those sorts of things"
  56. [20:29] <NathanielDurond> "Keeping an eye on your brother and his comrades is a good start. Help them with their homework."
  57. [20:29] <Griet> "You butcher it first."
  58. [20:30] <ElsaFaustus> "Isn't an Impala an American automobile?"
  59. [20:30] <TanyaIvanova> "Have you ever butchered a lion, Bobo?"
  60. [20:30] <Griet> "Yes, Tanya, I have. Elsa, I don't know."
  61. [20:31] <TanyaIvanova> "…Very nice." Tanya smiles and puts up a hand. She intends to high-five. :p
  62. [20:32] * Griet blinks and then puts her hand up as well. High-fiving action.
  63. [20:32] <TanyaIvanova> High-fives!
  64. [20:33] <@Night10194> Anyone intending anything but trying to bake away minor trauma and family grief?
  65. [20:33] <@Night10194> Or sit and know not what to say?
  66. [20:33] <Griet> "Actually, to be fair, i'd never used an oven before. We mostly improvised."
  67. [20:33] <TanyaIvanova> nyet.
  68. [20:37] * Dostov rests his hands on the counter and hangs his head, needing a break from putting away whatever oddities Griet pulled out for baking.
  69. [20:37] <ElsaFaustus> I push a cold drink over to Dostov.
  70. [20:38] * Griet sees Dostov pausing out of the corner of her eye and rapidly looks around for another ingredient to distract him with.
  71. [20:38] * Griet taking know of the drink, says a bit loudly. "TANG!"
  72. [20:39] <@Night10194> Natasha covers her ears.
  73. [20:39] <ElsaFaustus> "Something wrong, Griet?"
  74. [20:39] <@Night10194> Just then, there is a knock at the door.
  75. [20:39] <Griet> "Tang cookies!"
  76. [20:40] * TanyaIvanova puts a hand on Dostov's back, intending to say something comforting – when there's a knock on the door.
  77. [20:40] <NathanielDurond> I'll get up to open the door.
  78. [20:40] * Dostov has to stop in the middle of drinking the Tang, choking. "Now I know you need lessons."
  79. [20:42] <@Night10194> It's a Japanese man, with a slight five 'o clock shadow, a cheap suit rather than a NERV or Russian uniform, a small briefcase, and black hair drawn back in a ponytail. He's smiling slightly as he sees Major Duround. "Good evening, Major. They told me I could find you and the pilots here?" He takes out his ID, for verification. See prop in OOC channel.
  80. [20:42] <Griet> "I can cook crocodile decently, just get some of them...baking i'm not so good at"
  81. [20:42] <@Night10194> Tall fellow, and you get the impression of his being quite fit under his bulky, poor quality suit.
  82. [20:43] <ElsaFaustus> "Is it true that it tastes like chiken?"
  83. [20:44] * NathanielDurond takes a careful look at the ID and then back again. "Good evening. We're all here, you're just in time for an experiment in cuisine."
  84. [20:44] <Griet> "A little spicier. Zebra tastes like pork, though."
  85. [20:46] <@Night10194> Kaji: "I couldn't impose. I just thought I should stop by and introduce myself, Major. I've been assigned as a...UN Inspector of sorts. To help coordinate our technological efforts and give you a lifeline back to NERV for scientific resources and intelligence on the situation in Tokyo-3."
  86. [20:47] <ElsaFaustus> I curiously watch this UN Inspector, wondering if he'll be working here much.
  87. [20:48] <@Night10194> Kaji: "If we could speak in private later, I'd be much obliged, but I understand your pilots likely need their commander with them, for now. I heard the battle got very ugly."
  88. [20:50] <NathanielDurond> "It could have been much worse, considering we were one short. But yes, we'll meet later. I'm guessing you know where to find my office."
  89. [20:50] <@Night10194> Kaji: "Of course, assuming I can get past the dirty looks of our hosts. I gather they didn't much want more UN personnel about."
  90. [20:51] <@Night10194> Kaji: "Dollars, not bodies, I suppose."
  91. [20:52] <ElsaFaustus> "Hmmph. They should be grateful."
  92. [20:52] <NathanielDurond> "Bad timing mostly. There is an easy way to get long with a bunch of them though."
  93. [20:53] <@Night10194> He chuckles. "I suppose Inspector sounds a bit like 'Spy' to them. Good day, Major. I'll see you later. And I look forward to meeting your charges, under better circumstances."
  94. [20:54] * Griet eyes the man curiously. "Are you going to take another one of us away?"
  95. [20:54] <NathanielDurond> "No. No he is not."
  96. [20:54] <@Night10194> Kaji: "What? No. Though I did just get finished delivering the fourth pilot to Tokyo-3. Another German loan agent."
  97. [20:54] <ElsaFaustus> "There's another?"
  98. [20:55] <@Night10194> Kaji: "There's an entire German squad, Pilot. Asuka Langley Sohryu was sent to Tokyo-3 to help reinforce it further, despite the fact that this base has suffered three times the attacks and far more powerful ones, to boot."
  99. [20:59] <NathanielDurond> "Something I am certain we'll be discussing at length."
  100. [20:59] <@Night10194> Kaji: "I'll see you later, then, Major. And yes. We will."
  101. [21:00] <@Night10194> He waves a bit, walking off with his briefcase to find his quarters.
  102. [21:03] <ElsaFaustus> "Huh. A whole German team?"
  103. [21:08] <@Night10194> Elsa, you do recall overhearing once that many of the weapons for EVAs, particularly the prog knives, are German manufactured. Built in Berlin. You didn't know there was a team operating there, though.
  104. [21:09] <ElsaFaustus> "Wonder why I didn't hear about them..?"
  105. [21:12] <@Night10194> Anyone up to anything else this evening?
  106. [21:13] <ElsaFaustus> Nothing in particular.
  107. [21:13] <Griet> Make as many cooking errors as possible to keep Dostov and Natasha busy
  108. [21:14] <NathanielDurond> "NERV likes to keep information compartmentalized usually.
  109. [21:14] * Dostov tries to help but he can't focus, he's just not as into it as he usually is.
  110. [21:15] <ElsaFaustus> "Did you know about them, herr major?"
  111. [21:20] <NathanielDurond> "A little. 5 person team responsible for protecting Germany. They've been trained as soldiers since they were young."
  112. [21:23] <ElsaFaustus> "Like me? Why aren't I in training like they were."
  113. [21:26] <Griet> "If they've been training kids since they were little, why do they need us then?"
  114. [21:26] <NathanielDurond> "They were discovered much younger. And you two have exceptional talent that can't be trained. A gift even."
  115. [21:26] <Dostov> "Because only a small portion of us turn out to be synch positive in the end."
  116. [21:29] <Griet> "When do they test you?"
  117. [21:29] <ElsaFaustus> "Just surprised they didn't bother training me at all before shipping me off to Siberia."
  118. [21:31] <Dostov> "We...my group here in Siberia...were tested after generalized training. I was the only one that moved on." He looks off at something, or nothing, really.
  119. [21:32] <ElsaFaustus> "When was that?"
  120. [21:32] <TanyaIvanova> "There were others at the Boneyard. I never talked to them, but I presume the training was rigorous." She shrugs. "I was the only competent enough to make it from there to here, anyway."
  121. [21:33] <Dostov> "When I was fourteen."
  122. [21:34] <ElsaFaustus> "Guess they found me late..."
  123. [21:36] <Griet> "Same here..."
  124. [21:38] * Dostov actually gives up on cooking and goes to sit at the table.
  125. [21:38] <@Night10194> Natasha: "I'm...going to bed, I think. I feel really tired..."
  126. [21:39] <ElsaFaustus> I sigh. "Ah well... I guess I'll need to work harder to catch up."
  127. [21:40] <Dostov> "Major, Elsa...is it alright for Natasha to stay with us tonight? There's a spare bed."
  128. [21:40] <ElsaFaustus> "Ja. It's fine."
  129. [21:41] <@Night10194> Natasha: "If you think it's best...thank you."
  130. [21:41] <ElsaFaustus> I gesture to my room. "You can have the top bunk."
  131. [21:42] <@Night10194> Get some rest, Pilots?
  132. [21:42] <ElsaFaustus> Sure.
  133. [21:43] <Dostov> Might as well.
  134. [21:43] <TanyaIvanova> indeed.
  135. [21:43] <@Night10194> Alright. Anyone have story or in-character plans tomorrow?
  136. [21:44] <ElsaFaustus> Working, studying, and putting myself into my training. Need to be as good as the other Germans.
  137. [21:44] <Dostov> Check on Pizdetz, if he can.
  138. [21:45] <TanyaIvanova> I might ask the Major how the talk with Dr Tuchechev went, if/when there's a moment of comparative solitude?
  139. [21:46] <Griet> Griet will be a little restless, maybe trying to see what she can do to help in the aftermath?
  140. [21:46] <NathanielDurond> Meeting with Kaji
  141. [21:46] <@Night10194> Excellent. I'll handle that, then.
  142. [21:48] <@Night10194> Dostov, your EVA is still arm-less...
  143. [21:48] <@Night10194> It was literally disintegrated. They're forced to regrow the entire arm.
  144. [21:52] <Dostov> He stares up at the missing arm, frowning as he remembers how that felt. "We did good, Pizdetz Vsemu."
  145. [21:52] <@Night10194> The powerless hulk of meat and metal says nothing in response.
  146. [21:54] <Dostov> ". . ." He rests against the railing, hanging his head. Maybe he'll just stay here a while, let the railing do the work.
  147. [21:55] <@Night10194> American-accented voice: "Are you alright, Lt?"
  148. [21:56] * Dostov looks up, seeking out the source. It was that mechanic, wasn't it?
  149. [21:56] <@Night10194> Yep. Clarke.
  150. [21:57] <Dostov> "A lot on my mind."
  151. [21:57] <@Night10194> Clarke: "We'll have him in working shape as soon as we can."
  152. [21:59] <Dostov> He nods. "Hopefully the next Vragi will wait until then."
  153. [22:02] <@Night10194> Clarke: "If not...well...your friends will take it out, I'm sure. You're all doing great."
  154. [22:02] <Dostov> "Da...I'm part of an amazing team."
  155. [22:05] <@Night10194> Clarke: "Engineering's behind you four all the way. If you keep losing arms, we'll keep cloning new ones."
  156. [22:06] <Dostov> "I think we'll be needing them. Thank you."
  157. [22:06] <@Night10194> He gives you a pat on the back. "Just stay safe, and keep on keeping the others in one piece. Best if we only have to get familiar with cloning *one* EVA's arms. See you around, Pilot."
  158. [22:07] <Dostov> "Da."
  159. [22:10] <@Night10194> Before you can reply to his statement, there's another knock on your office door.
  160. [22:11] <@Night10194> Kaji: "It's not about gratitude, you thick headed-" You can hear his voice raised a bit through the door.
  161. [22:11] * NathanielDurond takes a few seconds stop shaking with rage. "Enter!"
  162. [22:12] <@Night10194> He's speaking with that Japanese man, Kaji. Kaji seems pretty unperturbed, but it's probably quite obvious the Major is genuinely upset.
  163. [22:12] <ElsaFaustus> I walk in and salute. "Sirs? Am I interrupting?"
  164. [22:13] <@Night10194> Kaji looks to you, Nate.
  165. [22:14] <ElsaFaustus> "Er... sir..?"
  166. [22:14] <NathanielDurond> "No. Inspector Kaji here just told me that there has been talk about replacements. I think the UN has gotten the message that any more changes to my team are going to happen over my dead body."
  167. [22:16] <@Night10194> Kaji: "Not among the pilots, of course." He smiles. "You four are doing excellently, from what I've heard."
  168. [22:16] <ElsaFaustus> "Replacement for Miko, sir?"
  169. [22:16] <ElsaFaustus> "Thank you, herr inspector."
  170. [22:18] <ElsaFaustus> "Is there any way I can be assistance? You seem to be having a problem, major."
  171. [22:20] * NathanielDurond scowls at Kaji while answering Elsa "Nothing you need to..." you know what? the hell with it. "You can actually. I"
  172. [22:21] <NathanielDurond> "... need your help. Please gather your fellow pilots."
  173. [22:21] <ElsaFaustus> "Yes, sir." I salute, then depart to round up the others.
  174. [22:22] <@Night10194> While she's departing...
  175. [22:22] <@Night10194> Kaji: "It's good that what I'm saying makes you upset, Major."
  176. [22:22] <@Night10194> Kaji: "It means you don't want it to be true."
  177. [22:22] <NathanielDurond> "You're a bastard Kaji. But I'm guessing you're also right."
  178. [22:23] <@Night10194> Kaji: "It isn't a question of seeking gratitude. It's a question of...well...deciding to be a bit closer, perhaps. As I said, teenagers have an annoying habit of never coming to you." He chuckles.
  179. [22:24] <@Night10194> Elsa, off to gather the others?
  180. [22:24] <ElsaFaustus> Jawohl.
  181. [22:25] <@Night10194> Pilots, ASSSEEEMMMMBLE.
  182. [22:25] <TanyaIvanova> ASSEMBLE.
  183. [22:26] <ElsaFaustus> I gather them up and head back to the major's office.
  184. [22:28] <NathanielDurond> "We'll finish our discussion later Kaji."
  185. [22:29] <@Night10194> Kaji: "Of course, Major. I wouldn't dream of being a bother." He chuckles, leaving the office.
  186. [22:30] <ElsaFaustus> So... we there?
  187. [22:31] <@Night10194> I'd assume. Griet, Dostov?
  188. [22:31] <Dostov> There.
  189. [22:32] <Griet> yes
  190. [22:33] * NathanielDurond is sitting on the edge of his desk, biting down on the end of his reading glasses, occasionally glowering at the spot Kaji used to be.
  191. [22:33] <ElsaFaustus> ""Reporting as requested, major."
  192. [22:36] <NathanielDurond> "Come in." Nathaniel sighs. "Its been brought to my attention I haven't been treating you all as I should."
  193. [22:37] <TanyaIvanova> "…sir?"
  194. [22:39] * Griet follows the other pilots in, curious to see what's happening.
  195. [22:39] <ElsaFaustus> I stand at ease where Kaji was standing, sensing a speech coming.
  196. [22:42] <NathanielDurond> "A couple of you have been subjected to my long questions on why you fight and over there" Nate points at a stack of files. "are official files that let me know a lot more about you then you of me. That isn't fair. So here it is. I fight for each and every one of you. I'm here to keep you alive, and I want you to trust me, and rely on me when you need to. What can I tell you? What can I
  197. [22:42] <NathanielDurond> do for you?"
  198. [22:43] <Dostov> "You watch after us. You put yourself in a giant robot that is no where near as safe as a EVA and went onto the battlefield with us. What more -can- you do?"
  199. [22:45] <ElsaFaustus> "Well... Who build Mephistopheles?"
  200. [22:45] <ElsaFaustus> *built
  201. [22:50] <NathanielDurond> "I don't know. As far as I can tell, no one knows. We're neck deep in the weeds."
  202. [22:50] <ElsaFaustus> "Weeds, sir?"
  203. [22:52] <NathanielDurond> "The tall grass, where things are ust waiting to ambush you."
  204. [22:52] <ElsaFaustus> "So... a giant, alien, cybernetic weapon shows up? And you have no idea where it came from?"
  205. [22:53] <Dostov> "All things considered, can the UN really be picky about it right now?"
  206. [22:55] <ElsaFaustus> I chuckle and shake my head, getting the joke now. "Well, I'll still Pilot it as ordered."
  207. [22:57] <Griet> "...Sir...i can't help but wonder..." *bites her lip*
  208. [22:57] <NathanielDurond> "Orders are fine. But you also have to know who to trust. I've been doing my best that you can all trust eachother. Now I want you to trust me." Nathaniel turns to Griet. "What is it?"
  209. [22:58] <Griet> "I....well." She pauses and takes a deep breath to steady herself. "With all of this, mysteriously finding giant, alien, cybernetic weapons, relying on children to pilot them.....keeping all of this under wraps...."
  210. [22:58] <Griet> "I..."
  211. [22:59] <Griet> "Does the UN have even the slightest clue what it's doing?"
  212. [22:59] <Griet> "It's just with this, and then taking Miko away, all of it. It's like they can't make up their minds, and they are getting people killed."
  213. [23:00] <TanyaIvanova> "People would be dying anyway, if the Vragi went unchecked."
  214. [23:00] <ElsaFaustus> "I believe their transfer of Miko to be prescient, considering Tokyo was attacked after she moved there."
  215. [23:00] <Griet> "I know that there are casualties with this sort of thing, i've seen death, i understand that. But what I don't understand is people dying because those in charge don't seem to have much of an idea of what they're doing."
  216. [23:02] <ElsaFaustus> "I am sure NERV command is doing their best to distribute their forces against this alien threat."
  217. [23:02] <NathanielDurond> "I think they have a better idea than they're telling us. Intelligence is always like that. Think about what you saw in the briefing room."
  218. [23:02] <Griet> "If you want to stay alive, you have to be with people you trust. That's one of the first things I learned. I trusted my family, and now....i even trust our squad....even if they can be a bit strange. But how do we trust that NERV? other than on blind faith?"
  219. [23:02] * Griet tilts her head slightly, thinking about it.
  220. [23:06] <Griet> "I suppose so....I still don't have much faith in them though."
  221. [23:07] <NathanielDurond> "A Vragi just like the one you fought in the simulators showed up in Japan. Clearly someone in NERV knows something they're not telling us. Whether you trust them or not is up to you. But if you can't trust us, use us. NERV is still the best chance of saving the world, and I'm making sure they're keeping their end of the bargain with your family."
  222. [23:10] <ElsaFaustus> I nod, thinking a moment. "What did Inspector Kaji discuss with you, herr major?"
  223. [23:11] <TanyaIvanova> Speaking of family – "Major, after yesterday … Dr Tuchechev is alright, yes? I tried to speak with her after we dispatched with the Vrag, but she wasn't in her office.
  224. [23:12] <NathanielDurond> "She's fine. She's just busy repairing the EVAs. A whole arm takes a while to replace."
  225. [23:13] <NathanielDurond> "The UN is considering replacing me if I don't start doing a better job."
  226. [23:14] <TanyaIvanova> "… a better job at what? We're all still alive. Pizdetz lost his arm, but it *can* be replaced."
  227. [23:15] <ElsaFaustus> "I imagine they just want to ensure such small, valuable units have the best leadership, sir."
  228. [23:19] <NathanielDurond> "As well they should, but at this point they just want me motivated and acting like a human being with my pilots. And they're right, and I'm sorry. Thats changing now."
  229. [23:19] <ElsaFaustus> "Sir?"
  230. [23:21] <Griet> "....what exactly is it they want you to do? Tuck us in and help us with our homework?"
  231. [23:24] <NathanielDurond> "they want me to make sure you'll risk your life if I ask you to. And I want you all to know that I will lay down my life for you in an instant. I fight for you."
  232. [23:27] <ElsaFaustus> "I need no incentive to lay my life on the line for humanity."
  233. [23:27] <Griet> "......"
  234. [23:28] <TanyaIvanova> "For those of us who have been trained – do they *question* our training? If I am to die for Mother Russia, then I die with honor."
  235. [23:32] <ElsaFaustus> "May I ask why you feel you're the best available commander, sir?"
  236. [23:36] <NathanielDurond> "Because I know you all. And because I am an expert in young soldiers, and have been since before the impact."
  237. [23:37] <ElsaFaustus> "You are, sir? I wasn't aware you had any expertise with soldiers or young people."
  238. [23:43] * NathanielDurond opens a desk drawer and pulls out a book: "Loyalty and Hope: The Rehabilitation of Child Soldiers after War" by Professor Nathaniel Durond, Ph.D, École Des Hautes études en Sciences Sociale
  239. [23:44] <ElsaFaustus> "Oh... you wrote a book that says you're an expert. I see, herr major."
  240. [23:45] <ElsaFaustus> "I have no further questions, sir."
  241. [23:45] * Griet grins a little bit at Elsa's comment and peers at the book. "Could i borrow this sir?"
  242. [23:46] <NathanielDurond> "Its what Ph.D's used to do with their time before the Vragi."
  243. [23:47] <NathanielDurond> "Certainly."
