  1. [4:10:48 AM] ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉ ᵈʳᵃᵍᶰᵉᵉᶫ: Red was in his usual silence, he rarely even talked to anyone, but right now he was hungry and the 4-year old was holding onto his big brothers hand. His stomach was growling which was obvious he was hungry since it was well past lunch.
  2.
  3. [4:17:40 AM] snark: Green had admittedly gotten a little too caught up in work--he normally sets alarms for meals, but had it not been for Jolteon's nipping at his heel he wouldn't even have looked at the time.
  4. It was...weird having to be responsible for someone else. He felt for the child who'd been left behind by dead parents--Green was much the same, and he'd kind of hoped to teach Red that it was okay to be a little different that way. His parents had been pretty amazing people, and Red was still young. Green was maybe a little too confident that he'd be alright....
  5.
  6. So now this twenty-five year old, with plenty of income and space to support a child, had forgotten to actually feed it.
  7.
  8. "Um...you're probably pretty mad, right. How about I get you some fruit snacks and carrots? Do you know what you even like to eat?"
  9. He kneels then to the child, eyes narrowed as he fixes Red's hair and straightens his cap.
  10. "Gotta look tough if you want people to think you're tough. You just look sloppy, so be more careful."
  11. [4:18:30 AM] snark: [ green is an a+ parent ]
  12.
  13. [4:24:15 AM] ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉ ᵈʳᵃᵍᶰᵉᵉᶫ: Red's hazel eyes blinked as he was stopped as he looked up towards Green, where he pulled a face, he never actually spoke to his adopted Dad. Even though he had been in the care system since he was 2. The short brunet shifted a bit on his feet as his cap was sorted out, which had caused him to jump as he was awkward with people touching him. But he nodded towards the snacks, he knew Green was a Scientist and a very good one at that. Red usually ended up climbing into Green's lap whenever he was tired and actually cuddle into him.
  14.
  15. [4:34:19 AM] snark: At Red's face Green makes one right back, sticking his tongue out. They hadn't really established titles, Green hadn't told Red to call him "Dad"--though he did wonder if he should or if Red would want to. But to be perfectly honest, Green was afraid the moment he was branded as father he'd end up being a terrible dad.
  16. His work was definitely research, and before Red Green often distracted himself from his loneliness with that work. It was easier that way.
  17.
  18. He retrieves yogurt to dip the carrots in, as well as a few chocolate chips and some softer nuts to mix in with the fruit snacks. Soon they're on a tray with a plastic glass of juice and on the table. Green gestures to the seat that had been slightly elevated (so that Red didn't need a highchair) before turning to fix his own lunch--Red was a smart kid, and Green was pretty sure he could put two and two together.
  19.
  20. [4:37:47 AM] ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉ ᵈʳᵃᵍᶰᵉᵉᶫ: The tyke looked at his food and he moved, climbing into his chair to sit there and he started to eat his snacks. He was wearing nothing but his pyjamas still as Red slept with his cap, it was one of the things Green got him and he cherished it as he would oddly through a massive tantrum if the cap was taken away.
  21.
  22. [4:38:26 AM] snark: [ omg red u cute ]
  23. [4:38:50 AM] ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉ ᵈʳᵃᵍᶰᵉᵉᶫ: (Just wait xD Red can be cuter)
  24.
  25. [4:43:57 AM] snark: Give him time and Green returns with something very similar in nature to what Red is eating--except instead of only carrots, he's also got celery, salted snap beans and cucumber slices too. Adopting Red had been something he'd taken very seriously, so he tried thinking up the best tactics to get him eating healthy early on. First, making sure there was no junk food (aside from some ice cream) in the house, and then making sure Red never got it in his head that they ate too different a meal. If Green added things to his meal, they were things he wanted Red to be jealous of, things the child might want to try.
  26. "Oi, do you like the red or the blue yogurt better? So I know which one to buy."
  27. he picks out all of the yellow Pikachu fruit snacks from his bag, not really that big a fan of lemon-flavored foods.
  28. "You're gonna start school soon. What do you think about that?"
  29.
  30. [4:48:41 AM] ᵖʳᶦᶰᶜᵉ ᵈʳᵃᵍᶰᵉᵉᶫ: Green's tactics to have him eat healthier and to get him to try different foods, Red looked towards the cucumber slices and he pointed towards them, it had become clear quickly that the 4-year old hated celery because of it's bizarre taste. He then looked confused with regards to school as he still had a year til he would even start it. Picking up a carrot he dipped it and started to eat it, the boy sat there as he moved and started to drink some juice.
  31. [4:57:13 AM] snark: Green didn't press celery too much--it was definitely an acquired taste, and pretty bitter if not eaten with some peanut butter or cheese.
  32. He watches Red with scrutiny, trying to decide what he was thinking. Green had gotten a little better at reading body language but it was a slow process and about 70% of the time he was still lost.
  33. "Bet you're wondering why I brought up school, huh?" Green grins, crunching into a stalk of celery. He swallows it before sliding two cucumber slices over to Red.
  34. "Pokemon school is pretty tough, but it's easy to get ahead. When I was in school I made the best grades in class--" he pauses, wondering if any of this is making sense to a four year old. Especially bragging.
  35. "Point is, if you wanna do well you have to work hard. Becoming friends with Pokemon means knowing them really well." he squints at Red, scratching his own neck thoughtfully.
  36. "You've got some yogurt on your nose, kiddo. How'd ya manage that?" a quick wink!
