  1. * Ambitious.
  2.     * Intelligent and intellectually curious: being naturally intelligent means nothing if you don't want to continue learning for the rest of your life. I would rather have someone who was less intelligent to begin with, but wanted to learn harder. (A corollary and a requirement for me: literate; and by that I mean reads a lot, enjoys reading, reads extensively.)
  3.     * Has at least one thing that they really enjoy and are reasonably good at (this is sort of like ambitious but not quite the same).
  4.     * Cosmopolitan, or would love to be: I want to travel a lot, when I can afford to do so in style, and I want someone who would be just as eager to go somewhere. I don't think I could deal with someone who was a homebody or close-minded to other countries and cultures.
  5.     * Open-minded in general, for that matter.
  6.     * Socially and personally self-confident. Social climbers are uncomfortable to be around; I have lots of guy friends and you should have lots of girl friends and we should both realize this is perfectly fine; you should have a life outside of me as I will have one outside of you; you should be just as at ease in a formal, white-tie ball as at a dive bar in the lower east side; doesn't have to be the center of attention but doesn't shy away from it either.
  7.     * Competitive, but is able to deal with the fact that I may be better than him in some things. Does not sulk when this happens: accepts happily and, moreover, is pleased by this.
  8.     * Corollary: supportive and, more than that, pushes me.
  9.     * Wants to be in a relationship. I suppose this should be a given.
  10.     * Able to tolerate that I'm a madwoman.
