  1. When confronted with a problem, one usually attemps to find a solution. However, when discussiong complex abstract concepts such as culture and religion, the answer is not nearly as simple as black and white; the true answer lies somewhere within the realm of gray. In Soul of The Indian, Charles Alexander Eastman, or Ohiyesa, explores his Native American identity. Although painting this metaphorical picture requires many shades of gray, and has an abundant amount of layers, through the use of x and x, Eastman is able to convey his complex identity.
