Everyone pretty much confirming Esteban Santiago came in to FLL from Canada, had firearm in checked luggage, claimed luggage, entered nearby bathroom to presumably load the weapon, came out of bathroom and began shooting into crowds standing around baggage claim terminal area. He stopped when he ran out of ammo and then surrendered to police without incident. Nothing further on 2nd shootings...

Gunman had a 9mm with multiple magazines. After emptying them he set the gun down and then went outside and laid down with his hands behind his head waiting to be arrested.

Ft. Lauderdale resident here. Not sure if it's true but according to one of my gfs friends the shooter was an employee working at the airport and had been fired recently. Heard gunshots when I was sitting in the terminal, people sprinting away. I ran and dove behind some seats.

There are reports that there's an active sniper on the roof. I work in a department that works closely with FHP and BSO. We are getting heavy reports of a sniper somewhere on the roof. Will update.

According to eyewitness on MSNBC the shooter ran out of ammo, threw his gun down and laid on the ground spread eagle then officer arrived and cuffed him. No shots exchanged between officials and shooter.
