  1. duwango-a-go-go: you probably don't care, but apparently jimmy has shut down his yt channel
  2. duwango-a-go-go: only telling you this cuz 4 people relayed me the info
  3. duwango-a-go-go: even after I stopped caring for GG a month ago lol
  4. Habermann: i worry he might just use it as a distraction while he moves into more "covert ops"
  5. Habermann: he probably took his most trusted followers with him and is prepping them to do his personal bidding
  6. Habermann: that's what i'd have done if i ever accidentally got as big as he did
  7. duwango-a-go-go: https://twitter.com/jayd3fox/status/537673066621317120
  8. http://www.mccannworldgroup.com/
  9. duwango-a-go-go: you may already know this or not, but his latest stream (prior to closing his account) was a pretty disgusting one
  10. duwango-a-go-go: he had sex live with his gf, and a buddy of his kept uttering anti-semitic garbage
  11. duwango-a-go-go: surprisingly, quite a lot of gamergaters were outraged by it, and all jim did was dismiss them as "triggered"
  12. duwango-a-go-go: that was 3 weeks ago or so
  13. duwango-a-go-go: by "covert ops,", I assume you mean he'll start doing things behind the scenes
  14. duwango-a-go-go: which I personally doubt, since none of his pals, both from prior or after his GG "fame," are noteworthy as far as popularity goes
  15. duwango-a-go-go: but that's just my 2 cents
  16. Habermann: here's what my train of thought would've been if i were in his shoes through this whole rise and fall, if i still had a mind for trolling and whatever
  17. Habermann: starting out making the videos he was making (before GG was a thing), i'd have been making them for what i would think is a relatively niche audience, never expecting to grow outside the bounds of 4chan and whatever reddits he was promoting his shit on
  18. Habermann: (and when i say "he was promoting his shit," i mean he likely directly outsourced those duties to nervatel and spunkeez)
  19. duwango-a-go-go: not familar with nervatel, but I see what you mean
  20. Habermann: but he trusted the anonymous to shove those videos in the faces of tumblr users and other assorted targets, and he would've been happy with the angry comments on the videos from the targets themselves
  21. Habermann: nervatel is his right-hand man, who used to be my right-hand for doing dirty work as well
  22. Habermann: if there's anything tedious that needs to be done, nervatel is the guy who jim gets to do his bidding. like promoting on /pol/ and what have you
  23. duwango-a-go-go: Ah, I see
  24. Habermann: jim knows at this point he can't make money off of these videos without leaving a paper trail leading back to him, so he doesn't intend to "get big"
  25. duwango-a-go-go: I wouldn't know if nervatel has a YT or not, I'd guess he's really good at staying anonymous and using multiple aliases
  26. Habermann: it's why i never went to the step of monetizing anything on METOKUR, because adsense or what have you would lead back to my name and fuck me at the end of the day
  27. Habermann: it's why jim wanted to make those IA videos for the dinner dates, because at that point i was willing to put my name to stuff / if the heat got serious i would be his fall guy
  28. duwango-a-go-go: I wonder how sour jim must've felt, when he realized that even for him, internet popularity is a monstrosity that can't be controlled
  29. Habermann: at any rate, the beginnings of GG transpire
  30. Habermann: if i were in that position, i'd have done exactly what he did and gone after the big picture target (in that case zoe)
  31. duwango-a-go-go: Jim spent all that time, almost 2 years, manufacturing the "sjws are evil" narrative, and in the end, he couldn't do anything worthwile with it
  32. Habermann: i would have to know i would get some momentum from it, but i don't think either jim or i could've predicted how much
  33. Habermann: seeing the analytics after those videos went up / starting nearing the 1M views mark must've torn him apart inside
  34. Habermann: because he can't see a dime of the potential monetization revenue from them
  35. Habermann: when you're hitting under 10K views you can live with the idea of not making any money off of that
  36. Habermann: and because he's saddled himself onto /pol/, any public moves he makes to try and build a "personal army" are gonna get shit on immediately
  37. Habermann: because 4chan / anonymous still fool themselves into thinking that they aren't used by the internet at large as a personal army
  38. Habermann: as his popularity grows beyond his own control / without him even having to promote himself anymore, here's what's happening:
  39. Habermann: 1. he's realizing more and more how much of this is going to waste. 2. he's realizing that he can't flex his muscle or make any moves against any specific targets without having his spot immediately blown up by his own fans. 3. he's getting hounded by requests from people he doesn't know asking him when he's going to post his next videos / telling him what they think he should make
  40. Habermann: that last point is probably what would've ate at me the most, and i reckon it drove him nuts
  41. duwango-a-go-go: He promoted himself as a messiah figure, the one who can save the internet from the likes of Kotaku
  42. duwango-a-go-go: and even then, people were already turning on him thanks to the stream I talked about
  43. Habermann: i heard of the steam, but obviously i didn't listen to it myself
  44. duwango-a-go-go: The only morons willing to excuse Jim to the very grave are the fossilized drones from the YT ranting community
  45. duwango-a-go-go: you didn't miss much, but the comment section was a trainwreck lol
  46. Habermann: obviously he couldn't have predicted the fallout from it. but here's where he really messed up with it:
  47. Habermann: that girl now knows his personal information
  48. duwango-a-go-go: GGters calling Jim out for being a hack, with the same ranting/commentary kiddies excusing and enabling his sickfuckery
  49. Habermann: she knows who he is, where he lives, and all that other pertinent information
  50. duwango-a-go-go: yeah apparently Jim really does have a GF, or so he wants us to believe
  51. Habermann: jim did what he did on that stream knowing it would alienate folk
  52. Habermann: i hate to say it, but if i were in a position to do something like that, i'd have done it too
  53. Habermann: and here's why:
  54. Habermann: at this point, he's looking for an out. not only that, but he's trying to smoke out the followers who are gonna stick with him no matter what and do whatever he says
  55. duwango-a-go-go: From personal experience (As in, from observing others), I can say that e-dating is always bound to end in disaster and hurt
  56. Habermann: by that point, i guarantee he was already planning on shutting down everything
  57. duwango-a-go-go: I don't expect things to be any different for Jim and the Asian whore he got involved with
  58. Habermann: the reason he stuck around for a month afterwards was likely to recruit those dumb enough to put their name to their support of him
  59. Habermann: people who stuck around on his steam group and who he thinks he can trust
  60. duwango-a-go-go: Imo, Jim is in serious denial
  61. duwango-a-go-go: he doesn't realize that he's now "too big to fall"
  62. Habermann: and so at that point, if i were in his shoes, i would have no hesitation shutting down a channel that big
  63. duwango-a-go-go: even with his egomania, nothing he'll do will help him shake off his trails
  64. Habermann: because you can't do as much as you think you can do with a channel that big
  65. Habermann: you can only go after the big names, and there you're not really doing much of anything other than being a pest
  66. duwango-a-go-go: Pretty much
  67. Habermann: jim likely wants to get back to grassroots of trolling
  68. duwango-a-go-go: there was nothing left for him to do
  69. Habermann: if anything, he's more dangerous now than he was before
  70. duwango-a-go-go: his campaign against tumblr was already a failure
  71. Habermann: it's very likely he'll come after me at some point
  72. duwango-a-go-go: barely anyone from that site cares for what he has to say
  73. Habermann: i'm not sure exactly how i'm going to have to respond to him if and when he does, but i'm dreading it for how tedious it's gonna be
  74. duwango-a-go-go: My opinion doesn't mean much, but I'd say just embrace it
  75. duwango-a-go-go: everything Jim does now is damage control
  76. duwango-a-go-go: even if he does go after you, anything he'll do is at best, free advertisement
  77. duwango-a-go-go: he just told everyone from his InternetArtistocrat viewerbase to go fuck themselves
  78. Habermann: no, because of a tactic i taught him back in the day
  79. Habermann: and it's the most dangerous and regrettable thing i taught that crew of people on METOKUR
  80. duwango-a-go-go: therefore, not many people will be around to take his verbal diarrhea seriously
  81. Habermann: and that tactic is, "if your target doesn't respond to direct action, direct action at their friends"
  82. Habermann: i don't worry about what jim can do to me personally
  83. Habermann: i worry about what him and his cabal could do to some of my friends who aren't built the way i am
  84. duwango-a-go-go: but that begs the obvious question: Does Jim knows who you're friends with? Even a few?
  85. Habermann: that there is a reason i try to keep such a low profile on the social media and stuff
  86. duwango-a-go-go: There's only so much time Jim can afford to obsess with internet shit
  87. Habermann: but i worry i've given too much away
  88. Habermann: but that's my concern, and i guess it's a cross to bear
  89. Habermann: all i know for sure is, jim isn't done
  90. Habermann: IA might be, but he'll be back
  91. duwango-a-go-go: I know we don't talk much, but I'd say you have long moved on and evolved since the Metokur days
  92. duwango-a-go-go: no way Jim's body is able to keep track of every single thing you do, even with a network of drones
  93. duwango-a-go-go: but alas, I'm just one person, and I don't pretend to be an expert on the guy, nor I care to
  94. Habermann: time will tell
  95. Habermann: but if i'm not paranoid, i'm not me lol
  96. duwango-a-go-go: I guess I should be too, but I've always been a nobody on the internet lol
  97. duwango-a-go-go: Jim at his core is boring and predictable, so it's hard for me to care
  98. duwango-a-go-go: althought I'm probably an hypocrite for saying that
  99. duwango-a-go-go: there are only a few people on the internet that I consider to be my friends, so I suppose I'm safe
  100. duwango-a-go-go: good luck for anyone who tries to discover who they are lol
  101. Habermann: i put myself and my friends in danger by "getting soft"
  102. Habermann: but on the other hand, if i didn't try to change myself fundamentally, i'd be crazy or dead by now
  103. Habermann: so i dunno. just gotta live with it, i guess
  104. duwango-a-go-go: I'd say you have
  105. duwango-a-go-go: If I were to track down one person's friends, I'd do so by seeing who this person likes to gloat about, in terms of friendship
  106. duwango-a-go-go: suffice to say, a lot of individuals do that, because they can't tell the difference between acquaintanceship and actual friendship
  107. duwango-a-go-go: I certainly wouldn't brag about being friends with one person to everyone else, because that's dumb imo
