  1. The journalist uses a mix of both basic and complicated language to properly explain and inform events to the reader, as well as only providing the important information that would entice the typical audience for this piece to continue reading. One example of this would be lines 1 to 3, which read 'Police today admitted that they are unable to explain the death of an MI6 spy whose body was found locked in a holdall bag. Gareth Williams' mysterious death has been the subject of fierce speculation since he was found dead in his Central London flat three years ago.' The language used in this introduction, such as "Fierce Speculation', 'Mysterious Death' and even 'MI6 spy' are all used to give a brief description of the article whilst perfectly enticing the reader to continue with the article to get to the further details.
