The Wizard was the first to die, foolishly getting caught between two flame towers. The exit was in reach, what could I do but move forward? So much for the wisdom of the council.

The Ninja was on the other side of the cavern when a pool of lava opened up between him and the stairs. Good thing I was already over there. Someone with his talents should have no problem getting across, you'd think. I waited for him on the next floor for a whole minute, but he never showed.

The Astral Walker ended up in a wall somewhere. I was right beside the door after one of those creepy wizards swapped places with me. You know how that always turns out - if I hadn't made a break for it I would've been stuck switching places forever. But that's how it always goes with astrals, am I right?

I wouldn't need any of them with the Archer by my side, coolly picking off scorpions with her bow while I hack up the bigger guys. We're a good team is what I'm saying, my sword and her darting, cautious eyes, so like a deer's. A creature of the forest, strong and proud, but far from her woods. Someone with a Warrior's instincts, someone who will get out of every situation alive - that's who she needs at her back. That's what I'm for.

She's waiting for me on the next floor. I give her my hand to help her up, and she grins as she squeezes it. "You and me, girl. We don't need anyone. Just you and me."
