  1. Courtney’s Homemade D&D Lore
  2. The lore revolves around 6 giant gems known as crystals. There is a crystal representing Light, Darkness, Fire, Water, Earth and Wind. Each crystal can be claimed by a deity, who can use it to extend the reach of their power in the mortal realm, gain full control over the element the crystal represents, and are able to appear in a physical form in the mortal realm (other deities cannot). The deity of a crystal can be changed if a inhabitant of the mortal realm performs the crystal exchange ritual in the name of another deity. The current deity inhabiting the crystal must either battle or come to an agreement with the incoming deity in regards to who now possesses the crystal. A deity who possessed a crystal is called a Greater Deity, whilst one who does not is a Lesser Deity. Greater Deities often select a mortal to watch over the crystal, and those who live near the crystal, as well as to relay their wishes to the people. These mortals are called Guardians.
  3. Each crystal (with one exception) is housed in a city. Here’s a brief rundown of the culture surrounding each crystal:
  4. • Earth Crystal – Housed in Neverwinter, City of Faith – Possessed by Torm, God of Loyalty and Paladins (Lawful Good)
  5. o Current Guardian: Chief Paladin Seakul Northstar
  6. o Neverwinter is the city of the religious, containing temples to every Lesser Deity, and to its own Greater Deity
  7. o Each year an event called “The Quake” happens. Every resident is surveyed and asked who their favourite of the cities deities is. Whichever deity is the most popular is selected as the earth crystal’s Greater Deity for the year, and the Deity’s highest ranking follower is chosen as guardian. The guardian is refered to as either Chief Paladin or Archbishop depending on whether they are a paladin or a cleric.
  8. o The earth crystal has been claimed by Torm for the past three years.
