Suicide Rate Transsexuals

The first result from google on the subject was an ANTI-LGBT site that ironically cites a PRO-LGBT site on its front page. They literally just put their own spin on liberal material. Even worse, the liberal artical they cited doesn't even state the source of the statistics being pulled out of thin air.

So I decided to go to a more reputable source of information, google scholar. Unlike the main google search, this engine only shows academic publications. Right off the bat, we see that almost every study is done in light of sexual reassignment surgery. One study states that
"[p]ersons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population."

But just because SRS patients are at an increased of suicide, doesn't mean all of transition is bad. According to this next study, hormonal "reassignment of transsexuals benefits their well-being", and actually reduces suicide rate! So at the very least we can say that HRT benefits a transsexual's psychology, wheras SRS is a bit more risky.
