  1. [20:28:26] <~Garlyle> DATE: February 28th, and it's not a leap year. It's roughly 7AM and the sun is just struggling to come up.
  2. [20:28:59] <~Garlyle> The location is Grume Village!
  3. [20:29:58] <~Garlyle> Within the ring of cliffs in the northwestern part of Altho is a dense, gorgeous, untouched natural world - a jungle so hot and humid that winter has failed to reach in
  4. [20:30:48] <~Garlyle> On the western edge of that jungle is Grume, a cliffside village separated from the jungle proper by tall wooden walls to protect its inhabitants, who use their own little section of the climate to grow a great many rare plants and fruits that could not harvest in other climates.
  5. [20:31:38] <~Garlyle> Despite their proximity to the mazelike and often viciously dangerous Saveen Jungle, the citizens generally have not had much trouble and are adapted to a peaceful lifestyle.
  6. [20:33:40] <~Garlyle> However, as winter has begun to recede from the rest of the region, Grume has had its own unusual problem approach - food has been disappearing from the village, because of bands of Pokemon working in surprising coordination!
  7. [20:34:36] <~Garlyle> Wanderers have been called in slowly over the course of the last week to try to find a way to put a stop to it, and while the occasional skirmish has broken out with nobody really getting hurt, it hasn't exactly stopped, either!
  8. [20:35:25] <~Garlyle> The current group of Wanderers on patrol, cursed with morning shift, consists of only three - Kuji, Ryuu, and Cole.
  9. [20:37:40] <~Garlyle> (If you want to start chattering, now would be the time I guess)
  10. [20:38:01] * Cole was leaning against a tree, standing guard, with Dewott standing beside, scanning through the trees with sharp eyes. Cole was actually glad to be on a mission like this; his thought process was that if the answers he sought weren't deep in the heart of the Pokemon League, perhaps they were as far from most civilization as one might be able to get.   11. [20:39:25] <Ryuu> Due to the significantly warmer weather of the area, even Ryuu had to take his jacket off. Still, he tied it off like a mantle over his shoulders and back. On his shoulder rests his celitty, looking quite amused at all the sights and sounds the place has to offer to them.
  12. [20:40:15] * Kuji stands guard of the front gate, standing around. If there were any other guardsmen there, he's blend in rather well... except for the Sirrui emblem on his armor. But other than that, he looks very fit for a guardsman... oh wait.
  13. [20:41:20] <Ryuu> "Well, looks like it's just the three of us on the morning shift," Ryuu remarked as he joined his fellow Wanderers, "It would be nice if the day went about without much incident, but let us do our best."
  14. [20:42:35] * Kuji nods, keeping his sight on the entranceway of the village. "You think there's gonna be anything today?"
  15. [20:42:51] <Cole> Deius appeared to be taking things more seriously than he typically would...much more, as though he were in combat. There seeing to be something Deius noticed about this place that Cole picked up on, but what Deius had figured out, he had no idea. But, Cole was on guard all the same, because the Dewott's instincts tended to be correct. He looked over towards Ryuu as he spoke, keeping a hand on a hidden throwing knife, for when he n
  16. [20:42:51] <Cole> eeded to pull it out. "I have a suspicion that today may not go without incident...it's only a matter of time before they come back, we all know this."
  17. [20:45:42] <Ryuu> "Yeah, they have been at it every day so far," Ryuu agreed as he tried to look far past the gates and towards the direction of the jungle, "If they have been depending on the village for their food just recently, something must have happened in there..."
  18. [20:46:50] <Kuji> "...as much as I want to go in and see what's wrong, we've been given a duty to guard this village. We can go in after we're done with our shift."

  30. [20:52:20] * Cole looks over towards Deius, still in combat mode. "We'll probably get a closer look before then." Cole himself is not good at this sort of thing, especially not in this jungle, which is not like his hometown at all!
  31. [20:52:20] * Ryuu turned around as quickly as he could, noticing something move out of the corner of his eye.
  32. [20:53:02] <Ryuu> "Cole-san, Kuji-san!" Ryuu called out as he motions for the two to follow to where he thought he noticed something out of place.
  33. [20:53:55] * Kuji stands in place, looking at Ryuu. "But we're assigned to guard the entrance. There are others looking after the other parts." ...he thinks.
  34. [20:55:03] * Ryuu calls out Honotaro to help fish out the intruder, "Well, if it is within our line of sight, it is part of our responsibility to ensure it isn't the cause of trouble! I'll check it out to make sure!"
  35. [20:56:08] * Cole nods to Deius as he follows Ryuu, Deius following quickly alongside, Cole now actually pulling out the knife, floating it in the air with his psychic ability.
  36. [20:56:12] * Kuji nods. "Good luck then. Yell if you need any help." Kuji stands in place in his post, looking back to the entrance.

  44. [20:59:49] <~Garlyle> It's a bit of a distance towards the place Ryuu swore he saw something, but there doesn't seem to be anything there. Of course, it can be sort of hard to see in the morning light, since the sun's still trying to climb its way over the mountains east.

  54. [21:02:39] * Ryuu let out an almost inaudible mutter at realizing there's not enough light to see very far yet, and lets Denko add some light in the area. The electric cat jumps up to Ryuu's head to make its face glow like a lamp.
  55. [21:04:04] <~Garlyle> With the added illumination, Cole's able to spot something odd first - the grass has been trampled, very recently. The shape of it isn't human - it's actually too -big- to be human.
  56. [21:04:33] <Ryuu> (ib4 snorlaxes, but they're too heavy to do that)
  57. [21:05:16] * Cole looks down, and points out the large patch of trampled grass. "Something's been here...something big. I'm not sure what, though." Deius seemed to tense more, and give a combative smirk.
  58. [21:07:28] <Ryuu> "Whatever it is, we should try finding it," Ryuu said as he let Denko shine his light around the area. Maybe a trail leads somewhere to the village?
  59. [21:09:24] <~Garlyle> Yup! You find it! There's a trail of them leading around the edge of the village - from your guess they're probably headed to the village's train station - and with it, the storehouse where they keep their shipments that will be headed out to the rest of the region.
  60. [21:09:39] <~Garlyle> Even as you're figuring this out in your head, though... you can watch the grass prop itself back up, the trail slowly fading from view.
  61. [21:10:23] * Kuji scans the horizon for any suspicious things... probably feeling lonesome. Doesn't this villager have any other guardsmen? he's thinking to himself.
  62. [21:10:34] * Cole sees the trail quickly, and Deius begins to follow it before it can fade out of sight, Cole following the Dewott with partial concern. "He's getting overzealous about this..."
  63. [21:11:03] <Ryuu> "This is bad...!" Ryuu said as he hurries at following the trail, letting his celitty dial to Kuji's celitty and get him to meet them at the storehouse.

  65. [21:11:54] <~Garlyle> Hey Kuji, your kitty's ringing. Assuming you do have one
  66. [21:12:23] <Kuji> "Huh?" Kuji checks his MEWMEWkitty, and... taps it? "Hello?"
  67. [21:13:14] <Ryuu> "Kuji-san! Something's headed for the storehouse!" Ryuu said through his celitty, "We're going to need some help on this!"
  68. [21:13:45] <Ryuu> At the same time, Ryuu did wonder why they did not decide to just stand watch of the storehouse in the first place, where all of the village's food is stored.
  69. [21:13:47] <Kuji> "Ah, alright!" He puts his Celitty in his pocket and races to the storehouse! ...wherever it is.
  70. [21:14:29] <Kuji> (Cue Kuji-flashback "All raiders go through the front entrance!")
  71. [21:14:35] * Ryuu also alerts villager/guards that are around of the situation.
  72. [21:15:12] * Cole telepathically alerts those that may not have a celitty that he can, still having to focus on following his combat-hungry pokemon.
  73. [21:15:21] <~Garlyle> There aren't really many villagers out to alert! The village is pretty sleepy, and those that you do alert actually pretty much retreat! It's... kind of no surprise, you've learned, why they need wanderers out here to protect them
  74. [21:17:17] <Ryuu> "Well, I guess that explains why we're here in the first place then," Ryuu said as they finally arrived at the storehouse. He lets Honotaro work on sniffing for the intruder while he and Denko looks around for signs of intrustion to the storehouse.
  75. [21:18:00] * Cole arrives with Deius, somewhat out of breath, Deius still raring to go, looking around for any signs of a hostile invader. "Deius...calm down..."
  76. [21:18:39] * Kuji arrives last, and looks around. "Where's the intrusion?"
  77. [21:19:45] <Ryuu> (did you mean intruder? :3c)
  78. [21:19:59] * Cole looks over to Kuji, calming Deius a little bit. "We found tracks, not sign of the actual intruder yet..."
  79. [21:20:23] <~Garlyle> You all meet up at the storehouse. For Ryuu and Cole, the tracks really did lead here - but you were only barely able to keep up with them as they disappeared behind you, and the tracks are all but gone around the building already. There aren't any signs of a forcible intrusion, but...

  90. [21:22:06] * Kuji runs into the open door of the storehouse, looking around.
  91. [21:22:36] * Cole heads for the open doors, Deius with him, still itching for a fight.
  92. [21:23:31] * Ryuu 's pokemon calls his attention to the door and his teammates entering the storehouse. The distracted young man follows right after them.
  93. [21:23:42] <~Garlyle> It's dark in here! Nobody's turned on the lights, yet - but there are DEFINITELY things moving around in here, just out of view.
  94. [21:24:04] <Ryuu> "This is strange... Tracks but no signs of anything!" Ryuu said as he switches the light on.
  95. [21:24:47] * Kuji takes his Celitty out of his pocket, letting the small glow of the phone kitty help him look for INTRUDERS

  107. [21:28:28] <~Garlyle> There's a bit of a sound of panicked surprise when Ryuu flicks the lights on, and you guys get a good view of what's going on. It's... not quite what you expect. It's a pack of Pokemon, sure - namely, there's a tall Tropius busy getting its back loaded up with boxes of food; and there's a Noctowl, Sudowoodo, and Vigoroth helping to do it.
  108. [21:28:43] <~Garlyle> That's not the part that quite surprises you though, even if it would be unusual enough to see Pokemon working together like that
  109. [21:30:24] <~Garlyle> Rather, contrary to reports you've heard and scuffles with the Pokemon raiders you've fought with before... there's a human with them, helping. A good look at him gives you the impression he's maybe twenty at most, but it's kind of hard to tell; his body is wrapped in furs roughly sewn together, and his face's age is obscured by tribal warpaints.
  110. [21:30:33] <~Garlyle> He's staring at you all, along with the Pokemon, seemingly quite surprised at being caught.

  112. [21:32:14] * Cole seems somewhat surprised, as does Deius, but Deius is still cautious; after all, the last time an enemy involved a human, he got knives thrown at him! Cole seems to be somewhat cautious, as the whole food-stealing factory seems to have...halted for the moment.
  113. [21:32:15] * Ryuu wondered how these pokemon even got in without even being noticed. Then he noticed that one of them isn't even a pokemon, but rather a man... specifically a man living with pokemon out in the wild. Denko could only let out a curious mew at the sight while Honotaro also focuses his gaze at the group.

  142. [21:39:46] <~Garlyle> The other Pokemon are quickly loading up what they've gotten onto the Tropius, and it's turning around - seems it's gonna make a break for it if nothing else.
  143. [21:41:27] * Cole looks over to Ryuu. "That's not going to happen...we need to send someone after that Tropius. Deius wants to take care of the boy, so I'll stay with him to make sure nothing goes wrong."

  145. [21:41:50] * Ryuu somehow realizes there's no other alternative but to get that Tropius grounded, "All right, doesn't look like there's any other option left!"
