Once the King and Queen discovered that Michiko and Kirelan already knew and liked each other, the solution was obvious - Marry them and let them rule together! And the sooner the better - if they announced the discovery of Princess Michiko to the public first, then people might think the Prince was marrying his sister! Marrying them off quickly saved any embarassing questions, and while they might not have been ready for that step yet on their own, their parents were sure they would work together to form a long and lasting marriage.

MichikoとKirelan王子がもうお互いを知り、好意をもっていると知った王様とお后様。そうとくれば問題解決。二人を結婚させて、国をおさめさせれば良いのだ！善は急げ。先にMichiko姫の発見を人々に発表してしまうと、王子が妹と結婚するのかとみなに思われてしまう。さっさと結婚させればやっかいな質問もないだろう。若い二人はまだ心の準備ができていないかもしれないが、かならずや長く幸せな結婚生活を築いてくれるだろう、と王様とお妃様は信じていた。

 

 

Because of Michiko's slightly scandalous reputation, the King and Queen decided that it was best to leave Kirelan as the heir. Michiko, like her equally-disreputable sister Alexandra, would be just a princess, eventually to be given away in marriage. Of course, some days, two troublemaking princesses were almost more than one poor castle could handle! At least now, both girls remembered how difficult it was to be on their own, so they tried to behave themselves and were never tempted to run away.

 

あまり感心しない評判のMichikoなので、王様とお后様はKirelan王子を今のまま跡継ぎにしておくのが得策と考えた。同じように悪評版の妹Alexandraと変わらず、Michikoもいずれお嫁に出すお姫様ということなのだ。もちろん、おてんばな姫が二人もいるのはひとつの城の中では大変なできごとである！ただ、今のところ姫君たちはひとりぼっちで生きることがどんなに大変だったか身にしみているので、城を抜け出すこともなくおとなしくしているのである。

 

The new 'Princess Alexandra' was whisked off to the palace and treated, of course, like royalty! Luxurious rooms, scrumptious desserts, a whole new wardrobe... especially since she didn't really fit into 'her' old clothing.\n\n'Alexandra' was not the heir to the throne, so she would not be trained to rule the kingdom. Instead, she would be prepared for her eventual marriage to the prince of an allied kingdom - or a hero, if the kingdom ever needed a hero so badly that it had to promise a princess in marriage as a reward.\n\nMichiko did wonder what had happened to the real Alex. But... she must be dead. She would have come back if she were alive. Especially with an usurper taking her place. And if the real Alex was gone, then it didn't hurt anyone for Michiko to play princess, right?

新しい「Alexandra姫」はさっさとお城へ連れて行かれ、もちろん、王族の扱いをうけた。ぜいたくな部屋や食べきれないほどのスイーツに新品のドレスを山ほど。「昔の」服はしっくりこないから当たり前なのだが。「Alexandra姫」は跡継ぎではないので、王国をおさめるための教育は必要ない。そのかわりに花嫁修業をするのだ。相手は同盟国の王子、はたまたヒーローか。この王国がどうしてもヒーローの助けが必要になったとき、お姫様を褒美にださなければならない。Michikoは本物のAlexandraがどうなったのか気になっていた。でも。。。きっと死んでしまったのだろう。生きていればきっと帰って来ているはず。盗人が彼女に成り済ましているのに帰ってこないはずがない。本物が死んでしまっているのならMichikoがお姫様になっても誰も困らないわよね？

 

Michiko had defeated the Black Knight to the applause of the crowd and was now an honored member of the royal court. Of course, since the kingdom was not at war, it was more of a position for show than a difficult job. She was given many suits of very decorative and very expensive armor, and then required to stand by the king's side like a shiny statue. This didn't give her much chance to mingle with the rest of the court.\n\n

Michikoは黒騎士を観衆の声援のなかで倒した。そして今や王立院の名誉ある会員なのだ。今王国は平和なのでこの地位は見せびらかすためのものだけで、やっかいな責任はない。たくさんの飾りがついた高価な鎧を与えられ、ピカピカの銅像のように王様の隣に立たされた。このため、

ほかの者たちと仲良くするきかいはあまりなかった。

 

Michiko petitioned the king to give her something else to do before she expired of boredom, and was assigned as a diplomat. She would journey to distant lands as an emissary of goodwill, and use her wit and charm to keep the king's allies on good terms. And if anyone was thinking about invading, she could impress them with her fighting skills. Who would want to invade a kingdom where even the women could fight like Michiko?

 

Michikoはほかの仕事を与えてほしい、と王様にお願いした。退屈で死にそうだったのだ。そうして与えられたのが外交の任務だった。友好の使者として遠い異国を訪れ、Michikoの知性と魅力で同盟国との関係を良好に保つのが仕事だった。侵略しようと考える者がいれば、Michikoは剣の腕を見せつけた。Michikoのように優れた戦いができる女性がいる王国を誰が襲うというのだろう。
