1. Update 17: Proper Nouns
2.
3.
4. This music plays for the entire update.
5.
6. So, last time we blitzed through all of East Sector. Or, most of East Sector.
7.
8.
9.
10.
11. One area that I skipped originally (because I wasn't sure there was anything of interest) was Protocol Forest.
12.
13. New enemies, of course, fall under 'anything of interest'.
14.
15.
16. Name: Gargoylemon
17. Level: Armor (Approximately equivalent to a Champion)
18. Location: Amaterasu East - Protocol Forest, Protocol Ruins
19.
20. Drops: Dark Power 2
21.
22. 3 STR, 3 DEF, 5 SPR, 3 WIS, 3 SPD,
23. 1 FIRE, 2 WATER, 3 ICE, 1 WIND, 2 THUNDER, 2 MACHINE, 3 DARK
24.
25. EXP: 176, BIT: 350
26.
27. Regular Attack: No Element
28. Technique: Dark Matter (Magic-Dark)
29.
30.
31. Name: Okuwamon
32. Level: Ultimate
33. Location: Amaterasu East - Kicking Forest, Protocol Forest
34.
35. Kicking Trees: Amaterasu East - East Wire Forest, Divermon's Lake, Wind Prairie
36.
37. Drops: None
38.
39. 4 STR, 3 DEF, 2 SPR, 3 WIS, 3 SPD,
40. 2 FIRE, 2 WATER, 2 ICE, 1 WIND, 3 THUNDER, 2 MACHINE, 3 DARK
41.
42. EXP: 172, BIT: 320
43.
44. Regular Attack: No Element
45. Technique: None
46.
47. Gargoylemon isn't too tough - a good fire or wind tech will put it down, since it's fairly squishy. Okuwamon isn't much better, though it can hit a little hard. They both have middling speed and defenses, so whatever works for taking them out.
48.
49.
50.
51. Something I mentioned in the thread, but didn't mention in the last update, was that the game finally seems to have figured out how to subtly guide the player. The devs ramped up the difficulty as soon as we started going west (the wrong way), culminating in very difficult enemies that probably would have ended me had I not been grinding. At the very end, only after the player has ignored all other hints, does the game tell you 'you fucked up, go the other way'.
52.
53. So points to it - that are immediately taken away by Knightmon :argh:
54.
55.
56.
57. Somehow, the red color makes it easier to navigate. Maybe the contrast between the red leaves and the purple ground is better? I don't know.
58.
59.
60.
61. Moving right along, we've entered Protocol Ruins.
62.
63.
64. Name: Mummymon
65. Level: Ultimate
66. Location: Amaterasu East - Protocol Ruins
67.
68. Drops: Mind Chip
69.
70. 3 STR, 3 DEF, 4 SPR, 3 WIS, 3 SPD,
71. 1 FIRE, 2 WATER, 2 ICE, 1 WIND, 2 THUNDER, 2 MACHINE, 3 DARK
72.
73. EXP: 175, BIT: 400
74.
75. Regular Attack: No Element
76. Technique: Dark Fear (Magic-Dark)
77.
78. Second verse, same as the first. This guy's just a slightly less powerful Gargoylemon, so the same strategy works on Mummymon. Gargoylemon and Mummymon are the only enemies in the area, so it's actually a pretty good place to grind MetalGreymon.
79.
80.
81.
82. Unfortunately, there's literally nothing different in this area. No chests, no unique area, nothing. I'm offended. :colbert:
83.
84. That being said, there is one Digimon of interest.
85.
86.
87.
88. ...Game.
89.
90. BK MagnaGargomon[sic]: You wanna fight with me?
91. Kite: All right, I'll fight you!
92.
93.
94.
95. GAME.
96.
97. Kite: OK, let's begin!
98. BK MegaGargomon: It won't be that easy to beat me!
99.
100. PICK A NAME AND STICK TO IT.
101.
102.
103.
104. BK MagnaMegamon has very goofy shoulders.
105.
106.
107. Name: BK MegaGargomon (Boss)
108. Level: Mega
109. Location: Amaterasu East - Protocol Ruins
110.
111. Drops: Wild Helmet (After Defeat)
112.
113. 4 STR, 4 DEF, 3 SPR, 3 WIS, 2 SPD,
114. 2 FIRE, 1 WATER, 3 ICE, 2 WIND, 1 THUNDER, 3 MACHINE, 3 DARK
115.
116. EXP: 450, BIT: 900
117.
118. Regular Attack: No Element
119. Technique: Mega Break (Largely Decreases Enemy Speed),
120. Giant Missle (Physical-Machine)
121.
122. So, BK Whatevermon. Taking a look at his stats, use Magic over Physical attacks, but be careful - both of his attacks are physical based, so that 4 STR will be put to good use.
123.
124.
125.
126. Regular attack is just a boring shockwave, something that I've seemed to notice happens more as the Digimon get bigger.
127.
128.
129.
130.
131.
132. Giant Missile fires, uh, giant missiles. Shoulder pads are dangerous, y'know.
133.
134. My strategy for dealing with him was fairly simple. Lead with WarGrowlmon and use the two party-wide buffs (+Def, +Str) and then wreck his shit. I was honestly hoping Monmon would Blast to Cannondramon, if only so I could use Cannondramon's Signature Tech on him; the Tech does extra damage to Machine Digimon, which BK MegaGargomon is. Alas, it was not to be.
135.
136.
137.
138. ...Yeah, don't fuck with Renamon anymore, she will wreck your shit with her Techs.
139.
140.
141.
142. Kite: Of course! I've been battling everyone!
143. BK MegaGargomon: Wow, that's amazing! I'll give you this!
144. Kite: Yeah! I got the Wild Helmet!
145. BK MegaGargomon: Well, good luck. I'll be cheering for you!
146.
147. And that's the extents of our adventures in Protocol Forest and Ruins! A pretty nice helmet for Kumamon, and a battle with a Digimon that doesn't know its name.
148.
149. (sometimes i hate this game)
150.
151.
152.
153. Back in Wind Prairie, this trooper is right in front of the exit to Kicking Forest.
154.
155. Trooper: Hey, you! Who are you?! You're suspicious. Let's Digimon Battle to see who you are!
156.
157.
158.
159.
160. Dolphmon got fried by one Electro Bolt, and Monzaemon wasn't much of a threat. Honestly, I miss that other guy. I had to actually try to beat him.
161.
162.
163.
164.
165. Also of note: Cardmon has leveled up. Tree's got three cards around it now, and Water's got two, and they hit pretty hard. Doable, but there are better options. Still, the card rewards are nice because I don't have to battle trainers to get them.
166.
167.
168.
169. Moving right along.
170.
171.
172.
173. Kicking Forest! No Veemon sidequest this time, (un)fortunately.
174.
175. New enemies in the area:
176.
177.
178. In-game model:
179. Name: Cherrymon 2* (Red Colored)
180. Location: N/A
181.
182. Kicking Trees: Amaterasu East Sector - Kicking Forest
183. Amaterasu South - Bulk Swamp, Tranquil Swamp, Bios Swamp, Jungle Grave Phoenix Bay, Ether Jungle
184.
185. Drops: TP Chip 1
186.
187. 3 STR, 3 DEF, 3 SPR, 3 WIS, 3 SPD,
188. 1 FIRE, 3 WATER, 2 ICE, 3 WIND, 2 THUNDER, 1 MACHINE, 2 DARK
189.
190. EXP: 203, BIT: 410
191.
192. Regular Attack: No Element (Drains Enemy HP)
193. Technique: None
194.
195. There's also plenty of Ebidramon to go around. Also of note: Cherrymon will only appear if you kick the trees. The drop is pretty useful - one free TP is one extra training session, so +8 in any given stat - but given that you'll also be fighting Cardmon, it's not very sustainable.
196.
197.
198.
199. Before we keep heading through Kicking Forest, we'll be taking a swift detour.
200.
201.
202.
203. Namely, Tyranno Valley.
204.
205.
206. Name: Deltamon
207. Level: Champion
208. Location: Amaterasu East - Kicking Forest (Cliff), Tyranno Valley
209.
210. Drops: Wind Power 2
211.
212. 3 STR, 3 DEF, 3 SPR, 3 WIS, 3 SPD,
213. 3 FIRE, 2 WATER, 1 ICE, 2 WIND, 2 THUNDER, 2 MACHINE, 2 DARK
214.
215. EXP: 179, BIT: 360
216.
217. Regular Attack: No Element
218. Technique: None
219.
220.
221. Name: MetalTyrannomon
222. Level: Ultimate
223. Location: Amaterasu East - Wind Prairie, Kicking Forest (Cliff), Tyranno Valley
224.
225. Drops: Metal Chip
226.
227. 3 STR, 5 DEF, 5 SPR, 1 WIS, 1 SPD,
228. 3 FIRE, 2 WATER, 2 ICE, 2 WIND, 1 THUNDER, 3 MACHINE, 2 DARK
229.
230. EXP: 183, BIT: 400
231.
232. Regular Attack: Machine Element
233. Technique: None
234.
235. These guys aren't really that tough, and we've dealt with Deltamon before. MetalTyrannomon is still easier, given the absurd weakness to WIS and Thunder. Again, Renamon can one-shot them with her Techs.
236.
237.
238.
239. Nothing else new here, either, but let me just say that I like this palette swap more than I like the Asuka version.
240.
241.
242.
243.
244. Hey big guy! What's shakin'?
245.
246.
247.
248. BK Imperialdramon: You gotta fight me to go back!
249. Kite: Sure! I'll take you anytime!
250. BK Imperialdramon: You've got courage! I like you!
251. Kite: Hey, I got strength as well!
252. BK Imperialdramon: You've got lots of confidence! Great. This'll be a good match!
253.
254. Hm. I could have sworn that conversation made sense when I was playing the game, but maybe that was just a fever dream.
255.
256.
257.
258. I like the ending to the fight.
259.
260.
261. Name: BK Imperialdramon (Boss)
262. Location: Amaterasu East - Tyranno Valley
263.
264. Drops: Hazard Helmet (After Defeat)
265.
266. 3 STR, 3 DEF, 2 SPR, 5 WIS, 2 SPD
267. 2 FIRE, 2 WATER, 2 ICE, 2 WIND, 4 THUNDER, 2 MACHINE, 4 DARK
268.
269. EXP: 460, BIT: 930
270.
271. Regular Attack: No Element
272. Technique: Mega Crusher (Physical-Fire?)
273.
274. Stats are a ballpark because the bestiary I use doesn't have BK Imperialdramon, for whatever reason. I'm guessing based on the raw numbers (which don't really tell you that much.) Anyway, that 5 WIS is his highest stat, so for once Renamon isn't that useful.
275.
276.
277.
278. Regular attack - nothing special. Just a shockwave.
279.
280.
281.
282.
283. Mega Crusher is a little dangerous, so be careful. I'm not sure if it's got the Fire element, or if it's just an explosion.
284.
285. Hey, guess what?
286.
287.
288.
289. I can do that too.
290.
291.
292.
293. Kite: Of course! I've been winning so far!
294. BK Imperialdramon: I see, you're great! Here, I'll give this to you. Take it.
295. Kite: Yeah! I got the Hazard Helmet!
296. BK Imperialdramon: That battle was fun. Come again sometime!
297.
298. He says come again, but we cannot fight him again. Damn.
299.
300.
301.
302. Well, that was fun. Back to the land of trees and bloodwater.
303.
304.
305.
306. General rule of thumb, I think, is that anywhere an NPC used to be, or maybe a chest, will now hold a Trooper.
307.
308. Trooper: Hey, you! Who are you?! You're suspicious. Let's Digimon Battle to see who you are!
309.
310.
311.
312.
313.
314. All of these are vulnerable to THUNDER. Just saying, is all.
315.
316.
317.
318. Now that everything is cleared out in East Sector - that Trooper was the last fight - we can head off to South Sector and start wrecking shit there.
319.
320.
321.
322. Or... or not. Nothing happens.
323.
324.
325.
326. We have other ways of getting to South Sector, though.
327.
328.
329.
330. By the by, we have new enemies in the Seabed.
331.
332.
333. Name: MarineDevimon
334. Level: Ultimate
335. Location: Seabeds 11, 14, 17
336.
337. Drops: None
338.
339. 2 STR, 3 DEF, 2 SPR, 2 WIS, 4 SPD,
340. 3 FIRE, 3 WATER, 2 ICE, 2 WIND, 1 THUNDER, 2 MACHINE, 2 DARK
341.
342. EXP: 185, BIT: 370
343.
344. Regular Attack: Water Element (Hits Twice)
345. Technique: None
346.
347. The Seabed we're going through right now is Seabed 11, but MarineDevimon replaced Dolphmon as the most common enemy we'll be fighting. This is because the most useful Seabeds are this one (Kicking Forest -> Bulk Bridge) and Seabed 14 (Shell Beach -> Phoenix Bay). Seabed 17, for what it's worth, is the Seabed between Suzaku and the UG Lake.
348.
349.
350.
351. You can tell we're in Bulk Bridge because of the bridge, obviously.
352.
353. New sector means new enemies!
354.
355.
356. Name: MegaSeadramon
357. Level: Ultimate
358. Location: Amaterasu South - Bulk Bridge, Bulk Swamp, Bios Swamp, Tranquil Swamp, Jungle Grave
359.
360. Drops: Thunder Chip
361.
362. 2 STR, 2 DEF, 4 SPR, 4 WIS, 3 SPD,
363. 3 FIRE, 3 WATER, 2 ICE, 2 WIND, 2 THUNDER, 2 MACHINE, 1 DARK
364.
365. EXP: 174, BIT: 350
366.
367. Regular Attack: Thunder Element
368. Technique: None
369.
370.
371. In-game model:
372. Name: Seadramon 2* (White Colored)
373. Level: Champion
374. Location: Amaterasu South - Bulk Swamp, Bulk Bridge, Tranquil Swamp, Bios Swamp, Jungle Grave
375.
376. Drops: None
377.
378. 2 STR, 4 DEF, 5 SPR, 4 WIS, 2 SPD,
379. 3 FIRE, 3 WATER, 2 ICE, 2 WIND, 2 THUNDER, 2 MACHINE, 1 DARK
380.
381. EXP: 175, BIT: 350
382.
383. Regular Attack: No Element
384. Technique: Hard Rain (Magic-Water)
385.
386. Eh, not too special. Neither of them should really be any trouble, this far in the game. Seadramon's Hard Rain can hit pretty hard, but we have plenty of heal battery right now since both Veemon and Monmon know Small Heal.
387.
388.
389.
390. But before we go towards the town, we'll backtrack a screen to Bulk Swamp. Hi pal!
391.
392. Trooper: Hey, you! Who are you?! You're suspicious. Let's Digimon Battle to see who you are!

397.
398. Nothing too dangerous.
399.
400.
401.
402. I'm, uh, not sure if this is really an improvement on the color palette or not.
403.
404.
405.
406. I mean, it's not puke brown, but it's also... kinda gross regardless.
407.
408.
409.
410.
411. Baronmon isn't in the Shaman Hut in Amaterasu - if we want to rename our 'mons, it has to be in Asuka Server. Guess who'll be walking back there eventually? :suicide:
412.
413. Sepikmon: It's getting pretty quiet around here. It's all because the A.o.A took over the server.
414.
415.
416.
417. Trooper: Hey, you! Who are you?! You're suspicious. Let's Digimon Battle to see who you are!

422.
423. At least these guys are good for EXP/DV grinding.
424.
425.
426.
427. Giver, are we bad enough dudes to rescue the president?
428.
429.
430.
431. Back in Bulk Bridge, there's another trooper where Paildramon was hanging out back in Asuka.
432.
433. Trooper: You're suspicious. Let's Digimon Battle to see who you are!
434.

436.
437.
438. This asshole. I hate Clockmon with a passion. Do you know how long it took to get the stupid Multi Crests?
439.
440.
441.
442.
443. The Bios Swamp is only notable in that apparently nobody bombed open the shrine. Either the A.o.A took over before that could happen, or there actually was a better way of getting the Digi-Egg of Reliability.
444.
445.
446.
447. Jungle Grave in the light area has no new encounters, just more of the MegaSeadramon and white Seadramon.
448.
449.
450.
451. The dark ground has a few new boys, though.

486.
487.
488. Strangely enough, there's nothing interesting going on through all of Phoenix Bay. No Troopers, nothing.
489.
490. There are new enemies, though.

540.
541.
542.
543. Finally, some action.
544.
545.
546.
547. Trooper: ...is that the Blue ID Pass?!
548.
549. ...yes?
550.
551. Trooper: I-I'm sorry. I didn't know you were Qing Long Chief!
552. Kite: !!! ...what?! Uh, ah, yeah! That uniform is too obvious. I'm in disguise and on patrol! Let's keep this a secret between the two of us, OK?
553. Trooper: You're great, Chief! You're a hard worker!
554.
555.
556.
557. Kite: Phew, that was close... But now I can go into Zhu Que City.
558.
559.
560.
561. Trooper: I'll continue scouting!
562.
563. Dude, you're just staring at the sign. That's not scouting.
564.
565.
566.
567. Not even Zhu Que City was spared the indignity of the A.o.A theme.
568.
569.
570.
571. Trooper: Let's Digimon Battle to see who you are!
572.
573.
574.
575.
576. What the fuck?
577.
578.
579.
580. We're just gonna move on and pretend we didn't see that, mmkay?
581.
582.
583.
584. Trooper: You're that tamer! Prepare yourself!
585.
586. FUCKING FINALLY. Someone recognized us.
587.
588.
589.
590.
591.
592. What killed the dinosaurs?
593.
594. [Giver: the ice age. Or boredom. Whichever.]
595.
596.
597.
598. I take the chance to upgrade everyone's equipment, since I have the money to burn. I know we just got another upgrade the last update, but we're moving fast - I'm at a comfortable level where I can handle the random trash mobs no sweat, but the Tamers might give me some trouble. Regardless of all that, Monmon gets a Psycho Blaster (just a +20 to power) and Veemon gets our first upgrade to the Zweihander, the Flamberge. It's another +60 power, because Veemon wasn't broken enough yet. I think he's actually broken 900 Power.
599.
600.
601.
602. The pig behind us has nothing of interest, despite Monmon's insistence, so let's just chat with the Zhu Que Leader. Surely this will be resolved smoothly and without incident.
603.
604.
605.
606. Zhu Que Chief: Only the members of the A.o.A can enter here!
607. Kite: Zhu Que Chief, where is the Digi-Egg of Knowledge?
608. Zhu Que Chief: Ha ha ha, so you're responsible for the Asuka Server! But no matter how hard you try, it's too late!
609. Kite: What? What do you mean by that!
610. Zhu Que Chief: Ha ha ha, I'll tell you! We succeeded in taking the undersea Base Magasta! And now we are launching the mobile fort Juggernaut!
611.
612. I mean, they're capitalized, so probably they're important, but I have no idea why I should care.
613.
614.
615.
616. Kite: Yeah, right! I'm not going to let you! I'll stop the launch of the Juggernaut!
617. Zhu Que Chief: Ha ha ha... Go ahead and try! That's if you can get by me first!
618.
619.
620.
621. South Sector, round 2, fight!
622.
623. Alright, first off we have Cherrymon vs. MetalGreymon. Fire is painful for the tree.
624.
625.
626.
627. Next up is WarGrowlmon vs. Scorpiomon. Unfortunately, Scorpiomon is weak to Renamon's Techs but has a 4 in WIS, so it evens out. Still, I win in the end thanks to a full Blast Gauge to start with.
628.
629.
630.
631. Finally, we have Snimon vs. MagnaAngemon; normally, this is where I'd go over the Signature Digimon, but we've already seen Snimon's bio.
632.
633.
634.
635. Kite: Huh?! There's something on the ground again... Yeah! I got the Red ID Pass! ...But where is the Digi-Egg of Knowledge? I've got to find it fast to stop the Juggernaut!
636.
637. Well, that was eventful.
638.
639. Next time, we'll finish off South Sector and go West, young Digimon.
