  1. The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) was held in Los Angeles, California this past year (2014). I was lucky enough to get to attend as a finalist thanks to the hard work of my two teammates and I. The whole experience, both working on the project and the actual fair, was quite the adventure. The project itself was an adventure; I had never taken up a programming task so daunting and complex. My colleagues and I spent approximately a month researching our project and figuring out the math that would go behind it. We wrote a 7 page research paper on the project and its background in computer science. After we puzzled out how to go about approaching the project, we began programming. The final project was about twenty thousand lines long, written in C#. We pulled many all-nighters and spent every weekday and weekend working on our project, and we finally got to present at our regional fair. The excitement and happiness I experienced upon hearing we were chosen to go Los Angeles of all places was not even the beginning; I was going to be able to meet many brilliant people just like me, with a passion for science and innovation. The fair itself was an incredible experience, and I have many friends I still talk to daily from all around the world thanks to ISEF. We got to do so many things, ranging from sight-seeing Hollywood, exploring Universal Studios (which they reserved just for ISEF parties), symposiums, to being able to attend a teen’s night at Club Nokia. I still get exhilarated thinking about ISEF and I cannot wait to try to attend again this year.
