  1. Saul
  2. Saul used to be a deeply religious man, thanking god for all his fortune and truly feeling a connection with the greater powers. Saul managed to become a husband, a father, and an apprentice alchemist under royal chemist Dramott. Dramott was a pragmatic man, spending his life in search of the philosopher’s stone; in contrast to the ideological Saul. As a Journeyman alchemist, Saul was tasked with assisting the royal chemist in his quest; often tasting new concoctions, collecting alchemical reagents and extracting them. In order to fund the research Saul was also tasked with producing lower-level chemical items such as gunpowder for the army or poultices for the local hospital.
  3.
  4. The amoral Dramott also forced Saul to assist him in some unsavory projects, making drugs or poisons for the local nobility – for Dramott everything was fair game in order to advance the quest for the philosopher’s stone. Saul had his doubts but still assisted the old man in his dreams.
  5.
  6. On the verge of a breakthrough, Dramott sent Saul towards a harbor town to collect a rare species of weed found under the docks. Saul treated it as a vacation and brought along his family; his parents, wife and children.
  7.
  8. Doom befell the harbor town as pirates arrived to raid and plunder; Saul wasn’t much of a fighter so he wasn’t able to do anything about the scoundrels slaughtering his family. The pirates recognized Saul’s uniform as an alchemist and decided to take him prisoner to sell as a slave.
  9.
  10. Saul became frustrated, he had always been a good and pious man; praying every night and often donating to the church – Saul blamed the gods for his misfortune and vowed revenge, the mere sight of churches or holy sights makes Saul’s blood boil to this day.
  11.
  12. The day before they arrived at the Pirate city Saul poisoned the Pirates’ water supply and managed to escape as the pirates shit their intestines out – a horrible death. Saul found himself thanking the pragmatic and heartless master Dramott because the knowledge of drugs turned out very useful. Concocting drugs and poisons for the local scum, Saul managed to keep himself alive and fed.
  13.
  14. Taking up the pragmatic ways of his master Saul wishes to dedicate his life into finding a potion for eternal life, so that he may someday find a way to revive his children and parents. Maybe even find a way to rid the world of the gods that had treated him so cruelly.
  15.
  16. Some characters Saul would know
  17.
  18. Clientel:
  19. Skegg, a drugcrazed young man wishing to do anything for a fix.
  20. Hollard, a quartermaster for one of the pirate ships – buys in large bulk for his long journeys.
  21. Drost, a pimp that needs the drugs in order to keep his whores in line.
  22. Rickard, Saul doesn’t know much about this man but he is shady and is always in search of poison or knockout drugs.
  23.
  24. Saul also has a rival drugcook named Hameed; Saul managed to keep him at bay by keeping friendly with a local gang in return for making firebombs for them.
  25. The gang is called the “Darpan Scrappers”, led by a charismatic man named Darpan. Because of Saul’s charisma he managed to get this firebomb deal with them.
