  1. The easiest modes to get into since the QL 2.0 update is FFA thanks to the addition of loadouts in FFA/TDM which lets you spawn with a power weapon of your choice(lightning gun or rocket launcher or rail gun). If you want to improve your tracking and flicking for hitscan weapons it's recommended you try out a sensitivity between 20cm and 30cm to do a 360 turn, perhaps start off on 30cm/360 which you can calculate here http://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/

  3. Another thing is that you want to make sure you have a good mouse/mousepad, some cheap options would be: Sharkk 2000(flat out better than most $40-80 mice for shooters) mouse and Allsop XL Raindrop(arguably the best cloth pad on the market) mousepad. Also if you have a 60hz monitor see if you can overclock it to 75hz as this would significantly improve smoothness of motion making it a lot easier to aim. Some players like to warm up with www.aimbooster.com and www.humanbenchmark.com and have even reported that over time these reflex training games have drastically improved their mouse control and clicking speed.

  5. Finally you want a good config that maximizes visual clarity and various settings to make it easier to hit higher accuracies and react faster, you can try out pro player configs and see what you like but here's a config that should work well for everyone: https://662d3e4b77265ab98ec4255f0a06f84b2ac1e08a.googledrive.com/host/0B5HCm4MqMfh4Yjk1NGRlMzEtMWJmOS00YmI2LWFlYjgtODRlMjJhYjUxMGFj/configs/quake/jigglyconfig-8-29-14.zip
  6. http://donewmouseaccel.blogspot.com/2010/03/markc-windows-7-mouse-acceleration-fix.html (allows for 1:1 input)
  7. Make sure you play in full screen because windowed/borderless is not fully supported. Also here are some useful console commands:
  8. "com_maxfps 250"(set to either 250 or 125 for best results)
  9. "com_idlesleep 0"(fixes stuttering)
  10. "/sensitivity <value>" and you're good to go.
