  1. https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1734088? First, you're interned. They take a sample of your body and determine your gene buildup. This lets them graft things on that won't kill you, but it's usually still painful to move the first few days.

Usually they resuscitate the corpse before this as a sort of "See how well your admiral takes care of you?" thing, but because I wasn't really a kanmusu or even mostly human, I wasn't shocked up until I was mostly done. But even so, it's painful. They essentially microwave you, then use a relatively large surgical tool to slice your body open, stuff the new organs in.

  5. https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1676894 Once you're all stitched up, they put you into Phase One Conversion. The first few days they have a few things stuck on you, cuffs and ankle braces and shit. Stuff that'll keep new people from trying to run. Gen. 2 Chi-classes and onwards, that head frill they have is actually designed to impair their vision, give them a blindspot. They're trying to break them into submission by making them fight with no visibility.

  7. https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1676899 After a few days, they take everything off. By this time a lot of them have come to accept life as an Abyssal soldier.

  9. https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1676998? Which is why the Abyssal Fleet give them a week before entering Phase Two. Phase two hurts. The things they put in you start growing and growing until they pop out of your skin. It's absolutely surreal to watch. Being a submarine-type, I was good enough to have only one major thing, I grew webs on my feet. At this stage, most are completely mentally broken. They walk around with a vaguely angry, wide-eyed look on their face. It's called chopshock. At this stage, the broken, scared, and usually pained soul is left to their own devices, being dragged into fights and often dying the first time.

  11. So few of them have the will to get back up after the first hit. Somehow, I found the strength to run instead.
