WARNING, use at your own risk..


This tutorial will be an easy one to follow and get desired results from.

With this tutorial are goal is to start with a O3DS on firmware 4.5 and have an emunand at 9.8 firmware with signature checks removed (so you can play 7.x games).

Nothing fancy will be done to your 3DS and I feel that this is your best, safest choice if all you want to do is play games.

This tutorial will not cover region spoofing (rxTools has no region spoofing). You can still use region free .cia's if you wish but you will not be able to download the updates for it from the E-Shop.

I will not be held responsible for any damage to your 3DS if you follow this tutorial. There should be none anyway.

The first step I want you to do is to format your system memory. (ON YOUR 3DS)

You start by removing any SD cards from your 3DS.

Now you turn on your 3DS and open your settings (the wrench).

Now you are going to choose "Other Settings".

Now you are going to scroll to your right until you see "Format System Memory", Press it, let it format the system. When done shut down your 3DS.

This part is done.

Now I want you to set up your internet connection. (Don't worry, its only going to active a short time.)

You need this in order to set up the Gateway msett plus the same connection will be active when you go into emunand.

When you got it set up turn off your 3DS.

Now I want you to choose the SD card you are going to use and clean it. (YOUR GOING TO FORMAT YOUR SD CARD)

Install sdformatter.

Put the Sd card you are going to use into your computer.

- Start SDFormatter.
- Click the "Option" button.
- Set "Format Size Adjustment to "ON" and click "OK".
- Click "Format".

Ok, now your SD card is ready to go.

Now we are going to install (the only thing being done to your 3DS) the Gateway msett. (We are going to change this msett later, to boot rxTools.dat instead of the Gateway Launcher.)

Extract that file and open "webMultiloader.exe"

Once it has started choose option#1 and hit enter.

It will generate a code.bin file for you, copy that file to the root of the now cleaned SD card you are going to use.

Remove the SD card from your computer and put it in your 3DS.

When you boot your 3DS it is going to give you a warning about creating some management, let it do so.

When that is done and your booted I want you to open your camera app by pressing your left bumper button.

When your in the camera app I want you to press the QR code button in the lower left corner so that you can scan the QR code that is included with webMultiloader, when you do it will want to open a web page, let it.

It will install the Gateway msett you just created and then crash your browser and return to the homescreen, this is what you want.

When that is done turn off your 3DS and remove your SD card and place it in your computer.

Now we are going to create a emunand for rxTools to use. (FOR RXTOOLS TO USE)

Copy the launcher.dat file to the root of your SD card and also delete the code.bin file, its no longer needed for now and you can always create another when needed.

Remove the SD card from your computer and put it in your 3DS.

Boot your 3DS and go to "Settings", "Profile" and click on "DS Profile"

You should now be booted into the Gateway menu.

Scroll to your right until you see "Format Emunand" and click on it, follow the instructions it tells you.

Once done press "a" to return to the Gateway menu and then shut down your 3DS.

Remove your SD card and place it in your computer.

OK, still with me?

Put the SD card back in your 3DS and turn it on, it will create some data management, let it do so then shut down your 3DS and remove the SD card and place it in your computer.

So now back at your computer I want you to remove the launcher.dat file from your newly formatted SD card.

On the SD card open the folder "Nintendo 3DS" and the open the folder in there, you will have come to a folder called "extdata".

Create a new folder beside that folder called "dbs".

Open the "dbs" folder and copy into it (https://mega.co.nz/#F!ZBd1ELzQ!ZY16emUOQAes_Z3opeQrkA) these two files.

Remove the SD card from your computer and put it into your 3DS.

Turn on your 3DS and Open your settings menu, the wrench, then "Data Management" then "Nintendo 3DS Software", your 3DS should say something about data being corrupt and needs formatting, do so.

When that is done just turn off your 3DS.

Remove the SD card from your 3DS and put it in your computer.

YOU CAN ALSO JUST GO TO THE STORE AND DOWNLOAD A DEMO TO CREATE THESE FILES FOR YOU AND PLACE THEM IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

Now we are going to install rxTools with signature checks removed.

I have included everything that's needed.

Place all those files, 5 of them, onto your SD card.

Remove the SD card and place it into you 3DS.

Boot your 3DS and open your web browser.

Navigate to http://launch.rxtools.net/rxTools

rxTools should launch and both boxes in your lower left corner should be green.

Choose the first option (Launch rxmode).

Once in emunand go to your settings.

Look at your bottom right and if you see "RX-E" for the firmware it is safe for you to update the emunand to 9.8, do so by choosing "Other Settings", "System Update".

ONLY DO THAT IF YOU ARE SURE YOUR ON AN EMUNAND.

Once the update is done it will reboot your 3DS and you will be returned to your sysnand 4.5 firmware.

Open you web browser and navigate to http://launch.rxtools.net/rxTools to launch rxTools again.

This time your boot will take longer as it is setting up the 9.8 firmware, let it do so.

Once its all done and your fully booted turn off your 3DS.

Now we are going to inject FBI cia installer to the emunand so that your not getting frustrated with the old method of installing a cia installer.

(Latest rxTools can do this for you, just use the latest rxTools from rxtools.net.) (NEVER WORKS FOR ME, JUST DO THE INSTRUCTION HERE, ITS EASIER ANYWAY AS FBI NEEDS TO BE ON A SYSNAND OF 7.X OR GRTEATER.)

1. Use rxTools to get your nand xorpad (Decryption Options -> Generate fat16 Xorpad). Put it on the FBI injection folder

2. Open emunand tool, choose extract emunand then choose the FBI injection folder for the destination

3. Execute decrypt.bat

4. Open WinImage.

5. Drag and drop the emuNAND.fat16.bin on the program then click on OK

6. Go to title/0040010/00022300/content for a EU console, title/0040010/00021300/content for a US one, and title/0040010/00020300/content for a JP one.

7. Delete the *.app and the *.tmp from the content folder.

8. Click on Image->Inject then choose the *.app in the content_region folder.

9. Same process for the *.tmd file

10. Save and close WinImage.

11. Execute reencrypt.bat

12. Restore your emunand with emunand tool.

13. Boot on the emunand with rxTools. Select Health & Safety app. FBI should boot instead.

Once thats done your set to go to the next step.

Now we are going to unlink the nands. (DONT UNLINK IF YOU WANT TO USE GBA ROMS EASIER)

To do this you will remove all SD cards from your 3DS and go to "Settings", "Other Settings", "Format System Memory".

Let it do the format.

Once done you can shut down your 3DS.

Now we will want to change the msett on you 3DS again (actually there is none right now as you just formatted your system memory and wiped it out) so that when you go to "Profile", "DS Profile" it will boot rxTools instead of the

Gateway Launcher. This is very handy in case you got no internet.

Remove the SD card from your 3DS and place it into your computer.

Open the webMultiloader folder and execute webMultiloader.

Choose number 5 .

copy the code.bin file it generates to the root of the SD card.

remove the SD card and place it into your 3DS.

Boot it up and open your camera app.

Choose the qr code button in your lower left corner to scan the qr code include with webMultiloader, it will open a web page, do so.

the browser will load the code and crash, you will be returned to your homescreen.

Choose "Settings", "Profile", "DS Profile" and it should now boot to rxTools.

Now you are done.

The reason I asked you to format your system memory at the beginning is so to remove the update nag if you get one and now we are going to make sure you dont get it again by doing this:

(THIS MAY NOT WORK IF NANDS ARE LINKED)

Set up your internet connection again.

Once done reboot your 3DS.

Once booted go to "Settings", "Internet settings" and choose your internet connection.

Choose "Change Internet Settings", then choose "Security"

Choose "None" and hit ok.

Your 3DS will want to test the line or something but just ignore it.

Go back to the desktop, see if just the green spotpass icon shows, you dont want a blue internet icon.

If it is you have just disabled the internet for your sysnand but since you still got the right settings in emunand you will have an internet connection there.

When you are in emunand go to settings, software, and click on titles or whatever and let it repair the corrupt data management, d o the same for DS titles as well. (ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOT DOWNLOADED FROM THE STORE ALLREADY)

So if you want to also use Cakes-cfw for a easy way to play gba titles follow this:

Unpack the rar.

Copy all the files in the cakes_23 folder to the root of your SD card.

Copy the code.bin to the root of your SD card.

Remove your SD card and put it in your 3DS.

Boot your 3DS and re-enable your internet connection.

Open your camera app and scan the qr code that's included with webMultiloader, it will want to open a web page, let it. This will crash your browser and return you to the homescreen.

Once back on the homescreen disable your internet connection again by the method I mentioned earlier.

Open "System Settings", "Other Settings", "Profile", "DS Profile" and it will now boot Cakes-cfw.

So you want to transfer .cias to your 3DS over a network instead of copying them to your SD card eh? (THIS IS VERY SLOW)

Here is how you can do that.

Unpack the rar.

This program requires jre so I have included a Windows 64 version to use.

Open the sockpunch folder, and copy the cia's you want to tranfer into the sockpunch folder.

Execute sockpunch.

Start your 3DS and load your cfw.

Open fbi cia installer.

Press the "Y" button on your 3DS.

You should see your 3DS's ip address on the top screen, write it down.

Now back at sockpunch, enter your 3DS's ip address were it asks.

In the top box the cias that you want to tranfer are listed, double click them to send them to the cue.

Once your cia's are in the cue press "Punch" and on your 3DS you will be given an option to start the transfer.

You might get an error on the first send but dont worry, just ignore it and try again and all will be good.

There you go, you are now sending cia's over a network.
