- Firstly, a big shout out to Bosse for the tips he’s put forward.
- I realise their is quite a lot of text here and may seem overwhelming, particularly
- To those of you who're new. This isn't meant to all be read, the first line of
- Every bullet point is quite enough to get you the idea, if you are interested in all
- The details, then it's available to you. Feel free to Mail me on 'James092' or
- Any other ranked/respected member of the alliance and ask questions, that’s why
- We’re appointed, so we can help you.
- You can search each headline below to get to something you wanna know about quickly.

- - Fight Tips
- Firstly, building tips:
- - Don't go overboard on cottages, a city can be incredibly successful with few
- Cottages, believe it or not you WILL need the free space later on. Don't
- rush to finish it.
- - Barracks, use every spare slot you can for barracks. The reason
- for this is because you get the happiest thing in the game in a barracks
- while creating troops. "Split production to all barracks", when you do this your
- troops are split between each troop. So if you are building 1000 troops that take
- 1000 minuets and have 10 barracks. Each single barracks will produce 100 troops and take
- 100 minuets. So it takes a 1/10th of the time.
- - Get your productions up before getting more important buildings at least to a
- handy point, you don't wanna hit a full stop when you can't support your own
- buildings.
- - Get your embassy to a suitable level! This is a MUST, the higher the embassy
- the more sets of troops can reinforce you.
- - Get Workshop 5 and Academy 4 as quick as possible. You Really REALLY
- want to get Metal casting and Archery up for Ballistas, These are very helpful for
- farming.
- - When making production buildings, don't go straight for getting level 8s/9s. A
- little level 5 Sawmills is just as effective as a level nine, much cheaper and quicker
- although.
- - Get Archer Towers are soon as you can afford them, don't put all your
- resources into them, possibly make half of the maximum you can. You need to mix
- Archer Towers with troops otherwise they’re effectiveness is decreased significantly.
- - Later on, I believe it’s from Walls level 6 and up, Archer Towers most importantly
- gain a 5% increase in range per level, so Archer Towers on level 10 walls have 20% more range
- than archer towers on level 6 walls. If I've got the numbers wrong feel free to
- correct me.
- - Get a relief station as soon as possible; we need to be able to reinforce you extremely quickly if you’re under attack.
- Troop Tips:
- - Please avoid building workers, they're only REAL usefulness is building cities.
- - Workers, these will be your cheap little saviours later of them, think of them as
- the French in WW2, a useful distraction, yet still incredibly weak.
- These work incredibly well for defence with Archers.
- - Scouts, The MAIN reason to have a lot of scouts, is so you can't be scouted.
- If you have your gates open and someone attempts to scout you, your scouts and
- your opponents scouts will fight it out, if he looses, he gets no intel. :)
- Scout bombs are also very useful, if you're interested skip to Fight Tips.
- - Pike men, Unfortunately, not particularly good at their job, although they're
- Anti-Calvary they're generally outdone by archers on defence later game.
- - Swordsman, same as above, on defence Archer Towers and Archers are much more important.
- - Archers, YOU NEED THEM. And you need to cover them in Warriors to protect them.
- Archers will be your main unit for defence, there's different strategies for
- attacking, but defending and Archers are NEEDED.
- - Calvary, Needed when you're taking out a city. They hit hard and fast for lowering
- loyalty, since Scouts can no longer do damage to the walls.
- - Cataphract, These are INCREDIBLY defensive, so defensive they hit the MAXIMUM
- possible defence stat before even getting to iron defence nine.
- Unfortunately they're very difficult to feed and not as useful as they should be.
- - Transports, Simply, they’re needed. No getting out of it, you need them for farming
- and taking out powerful targets.
- - Ballista, same as above, required for farming NPC cities to acquire a lot of food.
- - Battering Ram, very useful against Cataphracts if my knowledge is current,
- however not as good as they should be.
- - Catapults, they're more impressive to look at than they’re actual combat
- ability, at a certain point in the game they become useless.
- Hero Tips:
- - Tip number one, if you wanna look cool, Name your hero Queen.
- They're name is highlighted, cool, huh? :)
- - You'll need 2 mainly, 3 ideally. An Attack and a Politics hero.
- Politics improves how quick things build and how many resources come in from
- production buildings.
- Attack improves the overall stats of your troops in a battle, very handy.
- You have the option of an intelligence hero to decrease the time researches take.
- - Make your attack hero mayor while setting troops to build because it takes ALOT
- of time off the overall time before you split to all.
- - Make your politics hero mayor most of the time; it's your general mayor.
- - Make your intelligence hero mayor when you click Research on a Research. It reduces the time dramatically on upgrades you'll all find tedious.
- General Tips:
- - ALWAYS keep the boxes in your rally spot and embassy TICKED. Otherwise we can’t reinforce you and even if we could they wouldn’t fight.
- - Most importantly, DON’T BE AFRAID to ask questions.
- - Don’t cause issues, stay quite in your area instead of picking fights right from the get go. Use the time to build up.
- Fight Tips:
- - Use LAYERS! This is often called a rainbow wave, you use layers of other troops to support your archers so you get way less losses, here is an example:
- battlewn4.evony.com/default.html?logfile/20100710/df/67/df679c1bec3b9e453f74ae75eecb96ac.xml
- - Learn how to scout bomb, a scout bomb is where you send 100K or 125K scouts to attack a city, if the gates are open this is a devastating, fast, cheap attack to make.
- EVERYTHING in this guide is my personal opinion and is just a brief insight into
- the ever expanding world of evony. From playing in such a strong dedicated
- alliances you'll all learn things im sure even I don't know. You're all,
- including me, very lucky to be in such an alliance. Good luck.
- - Much respect, James.
