  1. Places and forms of power :
  2.
  3. First we can define the notion :
  4. « Places » could be important buildings or institutions that represent a certain form of power, for example Buckingham Palace – a symbol of the British monarchy, the White – a symbol of the American presidency. A place can also be a country or a state – for example the USA is a state which is powerful enough to influence events throughout the world (superpower) and China is a major economic power in today’s world.
  5.
  6. « Power » is the ability to control others, events, or resources; the ability to make things happen despite obstacles, resistance, or opposition. This of course leads to conflict between those who have power and those who don’t.
  7.
  8. The question that we can we posed is how have women gained power in English-speaking countries ?
  9.
  10. First we can speak of women during the world wars , in a second we ll speak of how the media power have helped the women and to finish we ll speak of ..............
  11.
  12.
  13. 1-world wars:
  14. We can deal with "The women's Land Army", this document is a propaganda poster in the WW1. I think we can talk of this document because with this we can see the great utility of the woman in the world wars.
  15. It shows a british soldier in the background. He is represented by a shadow because he was a farmer and a woman has now replaced him in the field while he is fighting for his country. The poster incites young women to join the Land army to take part in the war effort and feed the nation.
  16. We can talk of an other propaganda poster but this time it is in the WW2, his name is "We can do it!",the women Rosie the Riveter is a popular icon of American culture, symbolizing the six million women who worked in the defense industry and that produced war materials during World War II, while the men were away at the front. The character later became a feminist icon and economic symbol.
  17.
  18. To conclude this first part we can say the action of woman in the world wars were really important it's why the women have won the emancipation.
  19.
  20. 2-media power:
  21. We have speak of media power. First of all we can begin with the speech of Mrs Clinton in New York who speak of gender equality.
  22. She explains the fight for gender equality isn't finished and the women are not victims and should be agents of change.
  23. The impact of the life of Mrs Clinton on the message is that she as always been fighting for women's cause secretary of state's, college-law school, the first lady, a senator.
  24.
  25. To continue we can speak of a second speech "we should all be feminist". The woman who delivered her speech is Adichie.
  26. I suppose so what want do understand what is a feminist it's why she give a definition of this word, Adichie says "A feminist is a person who believes in the social political ecobomics equality of the sexes.
  27. I think she try touch the public with the heart when she talk of his family. It's maybe is solution to touch the public and show the women are not dangerous and can have the same power that the men.
  28.
  29. To conclude we can say that women have gained power in many ways, helping and demonstrating. For me they have successfully demonstrated their utility to men and this is why they got this equality.
