  31.
  32. God Usopp loves you.
  33.
  34. Rainbow Fruits are called Rainbow Gems because BAMCO focus tested that people are now more trained to buy Premium Currency with a recognizable name like Gems.
  35.
  36. If you Recruit shitty characters at the start, it might be worth re-rolling if you're a bitch who can't handle it.
  37.
  38. Save your Gems for Sugo-Fest and other events that make unique characters available from Rare Recruit.
  39.
  40. Save your Cola for the Merry-Go, it's the best ship right now (gives 1.2x to 1.5x ATK bonus).
  41.
  42. Save your Friend Points (FP) for events that give you the chance of Recruiting uncommon Units, Skill Manuals, Mats, etc.
  43.
  44. Excepting Friend/Guest Captains, you can't have the same Character twice on a Crew. Monkey D. Luffy [Gum Gum Bazooka] and Monkey D. Luffy [Gum Gum Balloon] are the same character.
  45.
  46. You generally want to start your Combo Chains with the weakest characters and end them with your strongest characters. That way, your strongest characters will receive the highest ATK multiplier bonuses, provided you don't miss, which resets it. (Great attack = x0.1 bonus to ATK, Perfect attack = x0.3 bonus to ATK).
  47.
  48. A matching Orb (an Orb of the same Type of the Unit) will double a Unit's ATK; an opposite Orb (an Orb of the Type the Unit is weak to) will halve a Unit's ATK. Try not to end your Chains on characters with an opposite Orb.
  49.
  50. Disable SFX for smoother timing. (Main Menu > Others > Options > SFX).
  51.
  52. The clock on the English guide gives you the correct PST time, don't trust Google's (which uses DST).
  53.
  54. If you're not sure what the hell you are doing, post in a /optcg/ thread.

  57. # LEVELING UP UNITS AND SPECIALS #
  58. ########################################
  59.
  60. A Unit can only be Evolved once they reach MAX Level. Different Units require different amount of EXP to reach MAX. A Unit gains EXP when they are Powered Up with other Units, just like explained in the tutorial at the start.
  61.
  62. Powering Up a Unit X with a Unit Y of the same Type/color as X will grant a 50% EXP bonus. E.G. If a green/DEX Seaman gives 1000 EXP when fed to a red/STR Unit, the same DEX Seaman would give 1500 EXP when fed to a DEX Unit. For this reason, feeding Units of the same color/Type is usually the fastest and most cost-effective way to level up a Unit.
  63.
  64. Powering Up a Unit X with a Unit Y will grant a 50% EXP bonus if the two Units are the same CHARACTER. E.G. If you Power Up Monkey D. Luffy [Gear Third] with Monkey D. Luffy [Gum Gum Bazooka] you get a 50% EXP bonus.
  65. The bonus only applies to the EXP generated by the same character Unit itself. E.G. if you Power Up Monkey D. Luffy [Gear Third] with four Units (1000 EXP each) and a Monkey D. Luffy [Gear Second], you will only get 1000*1.5+4000 = 5500 EXP, not (1000+4000)*1.5 = 7500 EXP.
  66.
  67. When Powering Up you have a chance of getting a Super Success, which grants a 50% EXP bonus. While Super Successes are officially random, it is widely believed that the game has long since achieved self-awareness and will only give you Super Successes when you least need them. There are often events that double the chance of getting a Super Success; for that reason, a lot of people like to hoard their Turtles and Porcs for such events, in the slim hope of getting more Super Successes.
  68.
  69. All the EXP bonuses mentioned above stack with each other. E.G. If you Power Up a Unit with itself and get a Super Success, the overall bonus will be 1.5*1.5*1.5 = 3.375 = 237.5%.
  70.
  71. Most of the Strawhats have two evolution paths leading to the third and final stage. DO. NOT. USE. the evolution that requires a crab, you'll be wasting 256k EXP for no good reason.
  72. The only exceptions to this are Usopp and, to a lesser extent, Nami (see the section below)
  73.
  74. Some characters have two different and separate evolution trees (E.G. Monkey D. Luffy > Monkey D. Luffy [Gum Gum Bazooka] > Monkey D. Luffy [Gear Second] and Monkey D. Luffy [Gum Gum Balloon] > Monkey D. Luffy [Gear Third]). Make sure you do not Power Up/Sell these Units thinking you already have them.
  75.
  76. Powering up Unit X with Unit Y has a chance of leveling up Y's Special Skill if X's and Y's Special Skill have the SAME NAME. When a Special Skill levels up, its Turn Cool-Down period is decreased by one. If Y evolves into unit Z and Y's and Z's specials have the SAME NAME, the Level of the Special Skill is carried over; otherwise, it resets back to 0.
  77.
  78. For all intents and purposes, Manuals are simply Units having a Special Skill of the same name as the Manual itself.
  79.
  80. You can keep feeding Manuals to a character even after they've reached MAX Level.
  81.
  82. #####################################
  83. # TURTLES AND PORCS 101 #
  84. #####################################
  85.
  86. Turtles and Porcs are used as a source of EXP. In fact, they are the best method to level up your characters quickly.
  87.
  88. Don't sell the Turtles you get at the start. It's tempting, but worth it to save and use them appropriately. Beli comes easy later on.
  89.
  90. Don't waste Turtles on characters already near MAX Llevel.
  91.
  92. The best way to obtain Turtles is to complete the Guerilla Turtle Island. Turtle Island is an island that only shows up on Monday at "random" times. The island appears twice per day (two 30-minute windows 10 hours apart from each other), costs 15 stamina, and has 5 Battles each with a guaranteed drop. Depending on your luck, you may either get 4 Treasure Turtles and 1 Daimyo Turtle (worst case scenario) or 3 Daimyo Turtles and 2 Elder Turtles (best case scenario). The best Crew to tackle Turtle Island with are the Marine "Justice Hammer" Tandem Crew and double Marco Crews.
  93.
  94. Porcs are obtained from the Jeweled Porc Sanctuary island, which can only be accessed by spending 3 Keys to Adventure. Keys, in turn, are obtained from Friends Game (Friends > Friend Game). You can only do Friends Game with people in your Friends List if the two of you are geographically close to each other. Since most people in /optcg/ threads are a bunch of autistic creeps with no IRL friends, we generally resort to using fake GPS apps to trick the game into thinking we can stand to be near each other. The location everyone generally uses is "Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan" (birthplace of Oda). The rewards from Friends Game vary by Chest, with Gold generally being better for getting Keys to Adventure and Turtles and Wooden more likely to get FP or Beli. Check the Link above to see what day is best for what you want from the Chest.
  95.
  96. #####################################
  97. # CREW BUILDING FOR NEW PLAYERS #
  98. #####################################
  99.
  100. Captains (because of the Captain Abilities) are the most important part of a Crew. Your Crew IS your Captain. Having a good Captain but shitty Crew members makes things a little more difficult, having good Crew members but a shitty Captain makes things impossible. The best captains are (generally) those who grant a boost to ATK. Be wary that you can't use a Helper's Captain Ability unless the two of you are Friends and you can only have a limited number of Friends, so choose your Friends well and don't be afraid to remove some that just aren't helping your Crew anymore.
  101.
  102. There are generally two ways to build a team: by Type (STR, DEX, QCK, PSY, INT) or by Class (Slasher, Fighter, Shooter, Striker). Type-based Crews need Captains that boost their respective Type. Class-based Crews need Captains that boost their respective Class. Try to have as many Crew members as you can who can take advantage of your Captain's Captain Ability.
  103.
  104. Usopp [Golden Pound] is widely considered one of the best Units in the game for his Special Skill to Delay all Enemies for 3 Turns and his low Cool-down period. UGP's only downside are his shitty stats, which usually relegate him to the start of the Combo Chain. Sogeking (the Evolution after Usopp [Golden Pound]) has better stats than UGP but also a higher Cool-down period, which makes him 'worse' than UGP.
  105.
  106. Nami [Mirage Tempo] is also considered a good support Unit for her Special Skill to Block INT Enemies for 1 Turn, which usually comes in very handy when fighting tanky Bosses who can inflict a world of pain (E.G. Rainbow Dragon, 2,000,000 HP and 18,000 Damage)
  107.
  108. Arlong is a popular Captain for starting Crews since he can be acquired early on, has the third highest ATK in the game, and has a decent Captain Ability (2x ATK for Slasher Class Units, meaning you can build a decent Slasher team quick).
  109.
  110. A popular Captain for taking on Raid/24Hr Bosses with weak or underleveled Crews is Princess Vivi (third form of Miss Wednesday). You can actually build two different kinds of Vivi teams:
  111. - Princess Vivi + Roronoa Zoro [Lion's Song] (or Roronoa Zoro [Streaming Wolf Sword]): Zoro will reduce all Damage by 80% as long as you have full HP, Vivi will constantly heal you at the end of your turn. With a Vivi+Zoro team you have to make sure that Vivi can heal you enough to always be at full HP before the Enemy attacks. (E.G. If the Enemy does 10,000 damage every turn, Zoro will reduce it to 2,000 and Vivi will need to heal at least 2,000 HP to get you back to full and reactivate Zoro's Captain Ability)
  112. - Princess Vivi + Laboon: Laboon will keep you alive as long as you have more than 50% HP (even if the Enemy is capable of one-shotting you), Vivi will constantly heal you at the end of your turn. With a Vivi+Laboon team you have to make sure Vivi can heal at least 50% of your total HP before the Enemy attacks. (E.G. If the enemy attacks every turn, Vivi has to heal at least 50% of your HP every turn). YOUR SHIP'S HP BONUS AND YOUR FRIEND CAPTAIN'S HP ARE COUNTED TOWARDS THIS LIMIT. This effectively puts a cap on the number and type of Units you can bring in a fight, and it generally means you'll have to resort to using weaker Units. For this reason, Vivi+Laboon Crews are generally considered a much safer and yet much slower alternative to Vivi+Zoro Crews (which are already slow on their own). Regardless of what strategy you decide to use, make sure to remember that a) Vivi Crews can only help you when fighting a single Enemy, multiple Enemies will still wreck you; b) battles will be agonizingly slow (you won't have any Captains providing a boost to ATK); c) Vivi+Zoro can't tank all Enemies: Princess Vivi can only heal 2,385 HP at Level 99, meaning you can't tank any Enemy capable of doing more than 2385*5 = ~12k Damage (assuming the Enemy hits every turn, that is).
