  2. Episode 08
  3.
  4. [20:44] <@Night10194> Alright...we pick up after the field test from last time.
  5. [20:45] <@Night10194> You've got your new gear, your new upgrades, your plugsuits that don't look like some creepy nerd's wet dream...I'm guessing most Pilots are pretty pleased, at the moment?
  6. [20:46] <Dostov> More or less.
  7. [20:46] <ElsaFaustus> Ja. Second happiest day of my life, still.
  8. [20:46] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya is pretty pleased, but still a little grumpy about being told that Cernobog isn't sentient.
  9. [20:47] <@Night10194> Miko's been asked to go and undergo some additional tests, and the rest of you given a surprise two-day vacation from drilling for this weekend while she does so!
  10. [20:48] <ElsaFaustus> "No drills? What do we do when there are no drills?"
  11. [20:48] <Dostov> "Think of it as a brief vacation."
  12. [20:48] <@Night10194> Major Gorky: "Catch up on sleep, let your muscles rest up some, prepare for more drills?" :p
  13. [20:49] <NathanielDurond> "You take the opportunity to do things you don't get to do because you are drilling. You have fun." Nathaniel raises an eyebrow at Elsa and Tanya. "A different kind of fun."
  14. [20:49] <TanyaIvanova> "…different than what?"
  15. [20:50] <@Night10194> Gorky: "Fun that does not involve guns or broken practice dummies."
  16. [20:50] <TanyaIvanova> "…sparring matches with each other?"
  17. [20:51] <NathanielDurond> "Or broken bones"
  18. [20:51] <@Night10194> She looks to Duround, and sighs the sigh of someone who knows they are bashing their head against a brick wall.
  19. [20:51] <ElsaFaustus> "I don't know... I don't want to hurt Tanya..."
  20. [20:51] <TanyaIvanova> "Bones only break if you're doing it wrong."
  21. [20:52] <ElsaFaustus> "Yeah. I'd do it wrong."
  22. [20:52] <TanyaIvanova> "…what about another game of football?"
  23. [20:53] <ElsaFaustus> "Much better. Not like there's any place to go on this base."
  24. [20:53] <@Night10194> Gorky: "I'm also to let you know there is to be no further EVA snowball fighting."
  25. [20:54] <@Night10194> Gorky: "The operation of your EVAs consumes enough power to be...financially significant. Paying millions of rubles to have a snowball fight is excessive." :p
  26. [20:54] <TanyaIvanova> "…are we allowed to have a snowball fight without the EVAs?"
  27. [20:55] <Dostov> So no combat practice? There goes half of what he usually did with time off.
  28. [20:55] <@Night10194> It is currently Saturday, February 2nd.
  29. [20:57] <NathanielDurond> "Lets stay away from the EVAs for a bit, and give the tech crew and the economy a break, yes?"
  30. [20:58] <ElsaFaustus> "Ja. Will do."
  31. [20:58] <TanyaIvanova> "But what about a snowball fight without them? Just … throwing balls of snow at each other without the assistance of our EVAs?"
  32. [20:59] <@Night10194> Griet, what do you do for fun? :p
  33. [21:01] <ElsaFaustus> I stand at Duround's side, drifting there out of habit and having no further orders.
  34. [21:02] <Griet> Griet is with Tanya on the idea for a snowball fight, though she knows that without the EVA she's likely to get destroyed
  35. [21:02] * Dostov shoves his hands in his pockets. "I'll go check in on Natasha."
  36. [21:04] <TanyaIvanova> "Well, we can't have a snowball fight with just the two of us — Schnitzel? Are you coming?"
  37. [21:05] <ElsaFaustus> "No thank you. Kind of has my fill of the outside weather after all those runs outside in the darkness of early morning."
  38. [21:06] <TanyaIvanova> "Well. …We could play in the kitchen. Or … something. …If we're still allowed to do so after the last time."
  39. [21:07] <Dostov> "As long as you have fun, it doesn't matter how big the mess is. Thats part of cooking." He yanks up his hood, ready to head for the housing area.
  40. [21:07] <@Night10194> Gorky: "I need to go speak to the tech staff some, but if you need me, you can likely find me in my office."
  41. [21:08] <TanyaIvanova> "…Is there a cookbook handy anywhere?" *knows how to cook absolutely nothing*
  42. [21:08] * NathanielDurond shakes his head. "Go. Scatter. Have fun. Although I do need to borrow a few minutes of everyone's time individually."
  43. [21:09] <Dostov> "I have a stack of them in my room."
  44. [21:09] <ElsaFaustus> "Do you need assistance, herr major?"
  45. [21:09] <Dostov> "Did you want to try cooking?" He approaches Tanya.
  46. [21:10] <Griet> "Looks like you're rubbing off on us, Dostov."
  47. [21:10] <NathanielDurond> "Yes. Some paperwork, tactical analysis, assorted other things. I could use your help, and then we can check to see how the cooking goes."
  48. [21:10] <TanyaIvanova> She nods. "I've never done it before. …or been near a kitchen to which I had access."
  49. [21:11] <Dostov> "Hm. Want to come with me to get Natasha? She'll want to taste everything, at least."
  50. [21:11] <ElsaFaustus> "Certainly, sir. I don't mind getting my hands dirty."
  51. [21:12] <TanyaIvanova> "Sure! She's sweet – having her around should be fun."
  52. [21:13] <Dostov> He looks to Griet. Did she want to come too, or would she be off hoarding food?
  53. [21:15] * ElsaFaustus follows Duround to his office, eager to do battle with red tape and intel reports.
  54. [21:15] <Griet> She'll join.
  55. [21:16] <Griet> Where Dostov goes, food will follow.
  56. [21:16] <Dostov> Off to his family's home!
  57. [21:17] <@Night10194> Well, his dad's out testing out something as well, right now. They just got a shipment of T-90 XR Railtanks to experiment with, as a bridge between artillery and tanks, and Captain Prokryshkin's unit is running the test.
  58. [21:18] <@Night10194> This means Natasha is at home, looking down at her math and English homework, looking bored.
  59. [21:18] <Dostov> Knock knock! A distraction from homework just arrived.
  60. [21:19] * NathanielDurond opens the door to his office. Its a small room, but fastidiously tidy. Even the paperwork is in neat stacks with multicolored tabs. Aside from a diploma hanging on the wall behind his desk, the rest of the space is covered in bookshelves, stacks of books on subjects ranging from military history to psychology, and a couple almost comfortable chairs.
  61. [21:19] <Dostov> That and his key for the house is in a different pair of pants.
  62. [21:19] <@Night10194> The door opens. "Oh, hi, brother! And scary girl!"
  63. [21:20] <Dostov> "Natasha!" She gets picked up in a bear hug, happy to see his adorable sister.
  64. [21:20] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya looks from Natasha to Griet, befuddled. "…why are you scared of Bobo?"
  65. [21:20] <ElsaFaustus> "Where do you want to start, major?" I take a seat.
  66. [21:21] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Who's Bobo?"
  67. [21:21] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya nods her head at Griet.
  68. [21:21] * Griet waves "She started calling me that a few weeks ago."
  69. [21:21] <Griet> "She likes to name us after food."
  70. [21:21] <@Night10194> Natasha: "What, are you planning to eat them if Dostov stops cooking for you?"
  71. [21:22] <TanyaIvanova> "Only their hearts. To gain their courage. …That was a joke, I promise."
  72. [21:23] <@Night10194> Gain...Griet's...Courage.
  73. [21:23] * Griet stares at Tanya..."Hah?"
  74. [21:23] <Griet> Yup, got plenty of that.
  75. [21:24] <TanyaIvanova> "…it's funny because cannibalism is primitive and I wouldn't *actually* engage in that kind of behavior."
  76. [21:24] * NathanielDurond takes his own seat and hands Tanya set of draft after action reports. "I'm not entirely sure why they still need this stuff, the computers do a lot of the work to. Of course, I wouldn't trust a computer to do tactical analysis." Nathaniel pulls out a few pens and then switches his watch to his right hand. "How would you evaluate our performance in the last few battles?"
  77. [21:24] <Dostov> ". . ." Who are these people he's letting around his sister? "Tanya wants to try cooking, did you want to be the taste tester?" Her hair gets ruffled.
  78. [21:24] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Ha. Ha. Ha."
  79. [21:24] <@Night10194> Natasha: "I don't know. Is she going to try to serve me your heart?"
  80. [21:25] <Griet> "I've had that before....lion heart isn't bad, if you know what to do with it..."
  81. [21:25] <@Night10194> Natasha: "...You've eaten a lion?"
  82. [21:25] * ElsaFaustus takes a pen and attacks the nearest pile with German orderliness. "All enemies defeated, no casualties. One EVA disabled. It looks good so far, herr major."
  83. [21:26] <Griet> "Several times"
  84. [21:27] <TanyaIvanova> "His liver, actually. With beans and some sort of red wine. Kee-anne-tee? …I heard it from Sgt. Dobrovsky at the Boneyward."
  85. [21:27] <ElsaFaustus> "Of course, we're still learning. And have not really learned to fight together in consert. Getting a little closer, though."
  86. [21:28] <@Night10194> Natasha: "You're scary."
  87. [21:29] <Dostov> "Go get your coat."
  88. [21:29] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya tries her very best to put on a smile that looks nice, rather than horrifying. "But I don't mean it! …It's funny! …I don't want to eat your brother!"
  89. [21:29] <Griet> (Oh Dostov...look what you've done. Look who you've introduced your sister too.)
  90. [21:30] <NathanielDurond> "It certainly seems so, you're all improving rapidly, and our superiors seem to be taking funding the base here more seriously."
  91. [21:31] <@Night10194> Natasha: "What are you planning to cook?"
  92. [21:32] <ElsaFaustus> "With recent equipment upgrades, I feel a lot better about things. It's been a pain to try to advance into range before getting this new laser weapon. I think Mephistopheles is half as slow as the next slowest unit."
  93. [21:32] <TanyaIvanova> "…I don't know. Something that is edible and not made out of people. …Maybe something baked? again, not made out of people."
  94. [21:32] <Dostov> "Nothing too difficult at first. I'll get one of my old cookbooks out."
  95. [21:33] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Maybe spaghetti?"
  96. [21:34] <NathanielDurond> "It seems it. Leaves us in an interesting position. "Throughout most military history" he says, while gesturing to one wall of books, "involves essentially ubiquitious units, not small unit tactics with each member of such... unique capabilities. And unique reasons for fighting."
  97. [21:35] <Dostov> "Maybe we should just cook here. Is there enough food Natasha?"
  98. [21:35] <ElsaFaustus> "Sir? I'm not entirely sure what you are implying."
  99. [21:36] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Please, please, please don't hurt the kitchen any more. Daddy does enough of that."
  100. [21:36] <Dostov> "You've been letting him cook?"
  101. [21:36] <@Night10194> Natasha: "He says he's trying to learn!"
  102. [21:37] * Dostov facepalms.
  103. [21:37] <Griet> "We won't hurt it too bad, we promise."
  104. [21:37] <Griet> "...we hope."
  105. [21:38] <TanyaIvanova> "…How hard can it be?"
  106. [21:38] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Noooo, if you teach her we're using *your* kitchen."
  107. [21:38] <TanyaIvanova> "…really. What could possibly go wrong?"
  108. [21:39] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Please, brother?" She gives you the biggest, most adorable eyes the second she hears Tanya say that.
  109. [21:39] <NathanielDurond> "We're fighting a different sort of war, even aside from the gigantic machines you pilot and the enemy we fight. One that relies as much on the individual capabilities and motivations of a handful of soldiers. Let me put it another way. Are you replacable?"
  110. [21:39] <Dostov> "..." HHNNNGGG. "Get your coat, we'll go back to the barracks."
  111. [21:39] <ElsaFaustus> "Sir, that depends on how many more Pilots are waiting in the wings."
  112. [21:40] <ElsaFaustus> "I am unfamiliar with the number of Pilot Candidates that NERV has on file."
  113. [21:41] <NathanielDurond> "None."
  114. [21:42] <ElsaFaustus> "Then I suppose I cannot be replaced, herr major."
  115. [21:42] <@Night10194> Scamper back to the Barracks, pilots?
  116. [21:42] <TanyaIvanova> Da.
  117. [21:42] <Dostov> Da.
  118. [21:42] <Griet> Yep
  119. [21:42] <@Night10194> Kitchen misadventure tiem!
  120. [21:44] <Dostov> "So...here's what I started with." He drops a stack of books that have seen better days.
  121. [21:45] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya takes one of them and starts intently leafing through it.
  122. [21:46] <@Night10194> Guessing this is basic stuff?
  123. [21:46] <@Night10194> Alfredo, meat sauce, decent steak, etc?
  124. [21:46] <ElsaFaustus> "Have you any suggestions for a doctrine for us, herr major?"
  125. [21:48] <Dostov> The easy stuff. Sadly, as with most cook books, it assumes you already know certain techniques, even for a beginner.
  126. [21:49] <NathanielDurond> "In a manner of speaking. Why do you fight Elsa?"
  127. [21:49] <ElsaFaustus> "Because I must, herr major."
  128. [21:50] <@Night10194> Tanya! The book tells you the secrets of tasty beefs! TENDER beefs!
  129. [21:50] <@Night10194> FOLLOW!
  130. [21:50] <NathanielDurond> "And why must you fight?"
  131. [21:51] <ElsaFaustus> "To save mankind, sir. NERV points and I obey, over the steppes and far away."
  132. [21:52] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya is EASILY enticed by beefs – especially in loaf form. With vegetables and sauce. …she stops her perusing on a recipe for meatloaf – and to Griet: "I'm sure we don't have kudu, but would this be acceptable?"
  133. [21:53] * Griet is watching from her normal doorway/safe point. "It looks great, i don't know that the Kudu would be very fresh out here anyway."
  134. [21:56] <TanyaIvanova> And then Tanya smiles and announces: "We're making this. :D"
  135. [21:56] <NathanielDurond> "To save mankind? A fine reason, as long as you like mankind anyway. I ask, because wars are often won and lost far from the battlefield. As for a doctrine? Know why you fight. And know you have to stay alive to continue fighting. There may come a day when courage isn't risking death, but risking staying alive." Nathaniel shakes his head. "Forgive me, men of my age can be prone to rambling."
  136. [21:57] * Dostov peers over her shoulder at the page. "Good choice."
  137. [21:58] <ElsaFaustus> "I understand, sir. So you're saying our standard doctrine should be somewhat conservative? Hang back, study the foe, wait for openings?"
  138. [21:59] <@Night10194> Natasha: "So...meat-loaf? That's your goal?"
  139. [21:59] <Dostov> "Every chef starts somewhere."
  140. [22:00] <TanyaIvanova> "If it's edible, I will be victorious."
  141. [22:00] <@Night10194> TO VICTORY, PILOTS!?
  142. [22:01] <Dostov> Victory!
  143. [22:01] <TanyaIvanova> VICTORY!!!
  144. [22:02] <@Night10194> Your burning spirit for victory cannot be denied! Until the pan catches fire, anyhow.
  145. [22:02] <@Night10194> Maybe your blood was *too* hot.
  146. [22:02] <NathanielDurond> "And protect your fellow pilots."
  147. [22:02] <@Night10194> There's now a genuine grease fire in your kitchen.
  148. [22:03] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya is going to attempt to put water on it unless stopped.
  149. [22:03] <@Night10194> This is due to rolling a 97 on the Cook check.
  150. [22:03] <NathanielDurond> "I well the cooking lessons are going?"
  151. [22:03] <Dostov> "Tanya!" Dostov is over to her like a flash! "Back up, I'll take care of this."
  152. [22:03] <ElsaFaustus> "Hard to do with some of them, sir. The Russians are somewhat... heedless and headstrong."
  153. [22:04] * Griet yelps and ducks behind the door frame. RUN AWAY!
  154. [22:04] <TanyaIvanova> "–but water goes on – okay!!" Tanya backs up and stands by the door with Griet.
  155. [22:05] <Dostov> Dostov goes for a box of baking soda, ripping off the lid. "Take Natasha and Griet into the hall."
  156. [22:05] <@Night10194> Scamperscamper!
  157. [22:05] <Dostov> Attack the grease fire with baking soda!
  158. [22:05] * Griet opts to stay where she is. Going out to the hallway implies going closer to the fire. Do not want.
  159. [22:05] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya takes Natasha by the wrist and lifts Griet off the floor by her collar.
  160. [22:06] <@Night10194> Luck check for fire alarm!
  161. [22:06] <@Night10194> Yes, the fire alarm does go off.
  162. [22:06] <@Night10194> However, it's super effective!
  163. [22:08] <@Night10194> A pair of base soldiers do, however, come pushing past the girls in the hall with fire gear, drawn by the alarm.
  164. [22:09] * Dostov backs out of the kitchen area as the soldiers enter.
  165. [22:09] <@Night10194> Private: "Shto eta? Just a kitchen fire? Is it out?" You got it with the baking soda.
  166. [22:10] <Dostov> "Da, it's out."
  167. [22:11] <@Night10194> Private: "Heh. Is what happens when you let the women in the kitchen, eh?"
  168. [22:11] <Dostov> "Oh, no, I just turned my back on it for a moment." He chuckles, scratching the back of his head.
  169. [22:12] <@Night10194> The two make sure there's no damage, then head back to their posts, chuckling.
  170. [22:12] <@Night10194> Time to clean up. And try again?
  171. [22:12] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya says yes. She has tried once and failed, and now she's going to TRY AGAIN.
  172. [22:13] * Griet is pale and shaky. She is not pleased with the idea of doing this again.
  173. [22:13] <Dostov> Dostov is nervous, but won't stop her. "You didn't get burned, did you?"
  174. [22:13] <TanyaIvanova> "Not even a little. :D"
  175. [22:14] <Dostov> Dostov will supervise more closely this time.
  176. [22:14] <ElsaFaustus> "YOu okay, sir? You seem to be zoning out."
  177. [22:15] <NathanielDurond> "My apologies, just thinking about how true your statement was. They're an interesting people. Very dedicated group."
  178. [22:16] <NathanielDurond> "How well do you think you know your comrades now?"
  179. [22:16] <@Night10194> Alright, well...it turns out perfectly, this time. Albeit with some odd flourishes, at Tanya's discretion. DELICIOUS MEATLOAF.
  180. [22:17] <TanyaIvanova> Hmmm. How to flourish a meatloaf.
  181. [22:17] <ElsaFaustus> "Hard to say, herr major. I wouldn't call any my soul mate."
  182. [22:18] <NathanielDurond> "Fair enough, but you know how they fight?"
  183. [22:19] <ElsaFaustus> "Ja. Tanya and Dostov charge at it, Griet hides and snipes. Miko seems to do things similarly to I."
  184. [22:20] <NathanielDurond> "And do you know why?"
  185. [22:20] <TanyaIvanova> (The meatloaf's odd flourishes are as such: the bits of carrot that got thrown in aren't really minced, they're still pretty visibly carrots; and at some point, Tanya saw a bottle of rosemary and figured, "hey, why the Hell not?" and put it in. :p )
  186. [22:20] <NathanielDurond> "Why they fight at all, not how?"
  187. [22:22] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Hey, you did a lot better on your second try." She smiles.
  188. [22:23] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya beams with pride. "Thank you! :D"
  189. [22:23] * Griet keeps staring at the oven and the meatloaf, trying to figure out which one is likely to burst into flame in the near future.
  190. [22:23] <ElsaFaustus> "Their motivations? Tanya seems to love fighting for it's own sake. Dostov is similar, albeit with a gloss of professionalism. Griet seems like she must because of something not related to this. She is not very keen on this, I think."
  191. [22:24] <ElsaFaustus> "No idea about Miko. She is asleep more than she's awake, I think. Maybe the spirits tell her to."
  192. [22:24] * Dostov motions for Griet to come out of hiding.
  193. [22:26] <NathanielDurond> "Thats a good start. I encourage you to pay attention to them. A team works best when you know how each other operate. And thank you for your help with the paperwork."
  194. [22:27] <ElsaFaustus> "All ist in ordnung, herr major."
  195. [22:28] <Griet> ".....i don't think it's safe yet."
  196. [22:29] <Dostov> "It's safe."
  197. [22:29] <@Night10194> Natasha: "I'm 12 and I think it's safe."
  198. [22:30] <@Night10194> Delicious meatloaf you must eat.
  199. [22:30] <Dostov> "How does it feel to make a successful and...unique...dish, Tanya?"
  200. [22:32] * ElsaFaustus sits in the chair, filling out paperwork and writing reports.
  201. [22:34] <TanyaIvanova> "…victorious, I think. …It's a different sort of victorious, but nevertheless. I am quite proud of myself for it … and grateful for the fact that the fire didn't destroy too much."
  202. [22:34] <Griet> "That just shows you don't necessarily know any better."
  203. [22:34] <Griet> "No offense."
  204. [22:35] <Dostov> "Well, congratulations." He smiles.
  205. [22:38] <TanyaIvanova> She smiles back. "Thanks." … "Griet, I promise it doesn't bite."
  206. [22:38] * NathanielDurond works on the paperwork in silence for a long while before checking his watch. "I think it is time for lunch. We should join the others and see how the lessons went."
  207. [22:39] <ElsaFaustus> "Certainly, sir. Hopefully, they did not let Tanya use sharp things or ignition sources." :p
  208. [22:40] * ElsaFaustus tidies up the paperwork, then heads to the kitchen.
  209. [22:41] <NathanielDurond> "Oh, whats the worst that could happen?"
  210. [22:41] <@Night10194> When you arrive...it smells like a mix of fresh, surprisingly appealing meat-loaf, and fire.
  211. [22:41] <Griet> "It's not the meatloaf i'm afraid of, it's the fire."
  212. [22:41] <@Night10194> Natasha: "The fire's all gone, Bobo."
  213. [22:42] <Dostov> Natasha gets a look.
  214. [22:42] <@Night10194> Those are the first things you two hear as your enter.
  215. [22:42] <Griet> "....for now."
  216. [22:42] <@Night10194> About the fire.
  217. [22:42] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya *beams* at her nickname catching on.
  218. [22:42] <ElsaFaustus> I look at the major, his question answered.
  219. [22:43] <@Night10194> Natasha shrinks a little from the look. "Joking...Griet."
  220. [22:44] <Dostov> Good girl.
  221. [22:44] <ElsaFaustus> "So... is it safe?"
  222. [22:44] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Yep! Tanya learned from the first fire!"
  223. [22:44] * NathanielDurond clears his throat. "Fire?"
  224. [22:44] <ElsaFaustus> "What'd she learn from it?"
  225. [22:44] <Dostov> "Just a small fire, nothing we couldn't handle."
  226. [22:44] <TanyaIvanova> "The meatloaf was weak. And possibly greasy. …But Dostov put it out."
  227. [22:45] <Griet> "....but....fire"
  228. [22:45] <@Night10194> Natasha: "How to make meatloaf, forged in the fires of war." :p
  229. [22:47] <ElsaFaustus> "So... it is safe? This war meatloaf by Tanya?"
  230. [22:47] <@Night10194> Taste of the war-forged meats of the Team.
  231. [22:48] <Dostov> "Da. It turned out prefectly, from what I can tell."
  232. [22:48] <NathanielDurond> "Before or after you put out the fire?"
  233. [22:48] <@Night10194> It's actually not bad at all. The carrots are a bit odd and there's a lot of rosemary, but eh.
  234. [22:49] <ElsaFaustus> I let the others try it first.
  235. [22:49] <@Night10194> Natasha gags and collapses to the floor, twitching as though poisoned.
  236. [22:50] <ElsaFaustus> "Right. Check, please."
  237. [22:51] <@Night10194> She giggles. "Why are you all so jumpy? It tastes fine!"
  238. [22:51] <TanyaIvanova> Tanya stares at Natasha. "…this is a joke, right? Ha ha, funny?"
  239. [22:51] <TanyaIvanova> And then she is suddenly very relieved.
  240. [22:51] * Griet , who had begun to emerge from the doorway shrieks and runs back into her room
  241. [22:51] <Dostov> A nudge to Tanya and a smile. See? Cooking isn't too bad as long as you don't cause a fire.
  242. [22:52] <@Night10194> Natasha: "How do you handle monsters when you're all so jumpy and tense?"
  243. [22:52] <ElsaFaustus> "By being jumpy and tense."
  244. [22:52] <Griet> A voice echos out "By staying behind the others!"
  245. [22:53] <Dostov> Dostov gets up and goes to retrieve Griet. "Come on, it's safe, you'll be fine."
  246. [22:54] <ElsaFaustus> I fix a glass of Tang, then sit down for meat. Not wurst, but not impossibly far from it, I hope.
  247. [22:54] * Griet is now white as a sheet, but desire for food wins out and she emerges for meatloaf.
  248. [22:55] <@Night10194> Griet is probably starting to gain some weight from having easy access to foods.
  249. [22:56] <ElsaFaustus> Filling out nicely or plumping up?
  250. [22:57] <Griet> (filling out, thank you ;p)
  251. [22:59] <@Night10194> Natasha: "What do you all do when you're not setting fires and piloting EVAs? Math homework?"
  252. [23:00] <TanyaIvanova> "Yes. We also sometimes play football."
  253. [23:00] <ElsaFaustus> "Writing reports, drills, schoolwork."
  254. [23:04] <@Night10194> No-one else has even cursery hobbies?
  255. [23:05] <Dostov> "Cooking or taking care of plants to the botany class. But you know that stuff." He starts collecting up dirty dishes.
  256. [23:05] <ElsaFaustus> Well, I can't curse the Pallet Gun anymore.
  257. [23:05] <Griet> "We used to play football or rugby in the camps sometimes..."
  258. [23:05] <Griet> "I suppose that counts?"
  259. [23:06] <@Night10194> Natasha: "The...camps?"
  260. [23:07] <Griet> "Refugee camps."
  261. [23:08] <@Night10194> Natasha: "What about you?" To the older man in the shiney uniform!
  262. [23:08] <NathanielDurond> "Chess. And you must be Natasha, yes?"
  263. [23:08] <@Night10194> She nods.
  264. [23:09] <NathanielDurond> "And what do you do for fun?"
  265. [23:10] <@Night10194> Natasha: "Math. Test food. Drawing."
  266. [23:10] <NathanielDurond> "Drawing? and what do you draw?"
  267. [23:11] <@Night10194> Natasha: "I drew some of the big dead things outside the base last week." The bodies are actually still there. They're terrain features, now.
  268. [23:13] <Dostov> "She's brilliant, wants to go into space."
  269. [23:13] <ElsaFaustus> "Too pure for this sinful earth." I chuckle.
  270. [23:13] <NathanielDurond> "Finish saving the world, and we can probably arrange that." Note to self, figure out why 12 year olds get to see the scary monsters.
  271. [23:15] <@Night10194> End Episode on that line!
