Quentin arrives on the Barge two months after Lark takes his permanent pairing with Chris, and catches his attention in a heartbeat.  He's nine miles tall, pale as milk, and wears nice suit jackets, cardigans, secretary glasses.  He drinks too much and is ostensibly a warden, but looks soft and wounded a lot of the time and can't even seem to pretend to know what he's doing.  Even his eyelashes are white.

Lark is determined not to throw him into a broomcloset and gobble him up, except eventually Quentin shows up to their mutual workshift in an honest to goodness sweater vest and suddenly he has a more intimate understanding of the phrase 'big bad wolf.'
