Anti GG Side POV?

To anyone reading this, I am Pro #GamerGate but I spoke with some anti GG people that hey- actually gave me answers.
The trick is to act as if what they say is important and anything that they say that you don't know about, you just need to apologize, ask them what that means, and then restate your claim. Or something. Fuck writing's hard.

Some of these folks were pretty hostile fuckboys too. Damn. Like the kind of passive aggressive kind of shit. It's weird.

Anywho, I can actually see why some people think this. Maybe you will too when you after you're finished reading.

They think it's either about:
-harassment;
-NOT journalistic ethics *will explain*



  Harassment:

this person will be referred to as person #1, or "the person" just for this one because I'm too lazy to edit all this out and call this person, "person #1"

Note1. The person I talked with also considers Eron G's TZP a "bitter, scathing 9000 word post by an ex boyfriend that caused this harassment campaign".
Note2. When I told this person that #GamerGate was about ethics and not misogyny and that most supporters even helped TFYC
in their funding for the female devs, this person said that TFYC are a transphobic (I later countered that with this http://www.thefineyoungcapitalists.com/TransgenderPolicy) group, but yet she supported the more female devs fundraiser thing. I'll talk more below.


So the person I spoke with based his/her opinion on how it all started; ZQ.
He/She sent me a link to the IRC chat http://puu.sh/boAEC/f072f259b6.txt (which by the way, this chat is after thezoepost was posted) and said that he/she judged the whole movement based upon the disgusting things that they have said (even though GG didn't really exist then. This was before Adam B's post). In the IRC chat you can see all of the anons using vulgar language, saying that they should dox people, etc. ZQ is also targeted in there. I provide examples below.

^ This article shows many of the times where ZQ was harassed, had her lewds leaked, etc. Yes, if you ctrl+f the things mentioned you will find them in the IRC.txt.

The person I spoke to about this one didn't really mention anything when I said that GG is about ethics, transparency and disclosure, but did say that "the bad in GamerGate severely outweighs the good". (I'm not sure whether or not to keep this person's anonymity, but I will.)

Here's the logic: The mindset is that people in #GamerGate have basically started out as this SJW bashing (keep in mind many of the anti gg side do support SJW ideals) hate movement, and then when someone says it's about journalistic ethics they mock you, because I feel as if that they're parroting what someone else said.

They sympathize with ZQ, go against anyone bashing feminism (because hey "YOU'RE AGAINST EQUALITY?") and disregard ZQs faults, because no one deserves to have received harassment like that. I actually agreed with this person on that part; ZQ bein harassed wasn't that good. Could you still argue that anyone could post in the IRC and that not many that are actual supporters of #GamerGate would harass like that? Prolly.

Next, when I heard that this person said that people called TFYC transphobic, I dug up some stuff and I found out that "Zoe had said the project [TFYC] was highly exploitative and that we were transphobic." - guy from TFYC (http://apgnation.com/archives/2014/09/09/6977/truth-gaming-interview-fine-young-capitalists)

Well, if TFYC are transphobic or whatever and GG supports them, that's bad!

Also the fact that people like BW or Skeeta Arkeesian say that #GamerGate is about misogyny doesn't help. I guess they just take their word for it.

So there were 2 people I talked with on here who still kinda used shaming tactics, but in the end I think it went alright because I got a link and some other opinion on the topic

Person #2 argues that #GamerGate is really just an SJW bashing movement, (I think it's a consumer revolt against journalist sites that pull off their own fuckboy shit), but something that really doesn't have much to do with ethics.

With Person #3 I talked about gamers are dead articles and this person argued that "it means they don't think games need to be marketed to JUST "gamers," aka teenage white boys, anymore". Also this person said that from a marketing standpoint, "teenage white boys" were the audience.

I also got the impression that many of these people feel as if that #GamerGate supporters emailing advertisers is a bad thing.

So yeah. Once you pick a side you're fed more and more info that supports that side.420
