  5. The first text ‘Why We’re Post-Fact’ by Peter Pomerantsev is from an article from a magazine about how the media is no longer based off facts but rather made up stories. The article noted that this idea of making up facts is very popular and successful, an example is Donald Trump who makes up facts to appeal to the public. Even though this can be considered lying, nowadays, it is just a ‘different opinion’ or ‘someone else’s truth’. Anyone can believe what they want. This is especially true with the internet being a big news source and it being a massive portion of the media itself. So overall the article attempts to bring to light how media is just a bunch of fake facts these days.
  6. The second text, What Makes Mainstream Media Mainstream by Noam Chomsky, is a little bit of a different view the media. Even though the time difference between these two articles is about 20 years, there is still a notable difference and perhaps we can compare how the media was in 1997 and 2016. Chomsky talks about how media is manipulated by the political and elite to bring news to the others. An example of this is propaganda through war where the media, where the politicians and the ‘elite’ manipulated the media. The rich that often read the new york times were also the ones who had power in the media.
