Nate stared at the message for a long time before he decided he wasn't capable of answering it. He had told Liv so far and that was the best he could do. He felt like he was going to suffocate every time he talked about it and writing it in a text wasn't any easier. No words seemed like the right ones. He only managed to look at the message again almost 24 hours after, coming back from the hospital with Liv. He still stared at the screen for a long time before he managed to type back.

She's in the hospital.

The questions that followed were expected, but exactly the kind of thing he couldn't deal with at the moment. He knew Lee was only worried about Phoebe and about him, but Nate literally could not cope with the idea of having him around babysitting, because he knew that was exactly what Lee would do if he knew how bad things were. He knew that if he called Lee to tell him what had happened, it was likely that he would cry again and then he would definitely not be able to keep him from worrying hysterically.

He dropped his phone and went to shower, before going back downstairs where Liv was waiting for him. "Lee wants to know what happened to Phoebe, he tried calling her and her phone was off and... yeah... I can't... can you tell him? And somehow make him believe I'm fine and he doesn't have to worry?"
