In E.E. Cumming's 'The Hunter', the author presents a humorous look at the experience of a hunter waiting for his prey. (1) The poem starts seriously, describing a grown up man hiding under a large amount of camouflage, and ends on a humorous note. (2) He says that by "pluck or luck" he may be able to trick the duck. (3)

 

In E.E. Cumming's "Next to of course of God", the author expresses his patriotic feelings to the audience. (1) The speaker tells the reader that the patriot loves America next to God more than anything even himself. (2) His perspective could be clearly viewed in this line, 'Next to of course god America I.' (3) He admires his beloved country more than anything else and would actually do everything to essentially protect it. (4) In the speakers mind the importance of his nation provokes a sensational feeling with means the world to him. (5) On the other hand the speaker implies that their bravery is more like foolishness. (6) In the twelfth line the author says, 'they did not stop to think they died instead'. (7)
