  1. On Lukas's announcement, this group, events, and the shitstorm in late January.
  2. 30 DE MARZO - TAILSZERO
  3. This announcement was made as I didn't want things to remain silent after Lukas's arbitrary timelimit ran out and events did not start again. Sorry if this starts up stupid discussion in the thread again, but I feel that someone who wanted to know but didn't might learn a bit about what happened two months ago if they read this.
  4.
  5. Two months and three days ago, Lukas made the announcement that "soku thread was on vacation" and that events would stop being made until the arbitrary time of two months into the future. However, the decision to make the announcement was a quick and reckless way to solidify a stupid plan that some people had come up with: that the only way to clean the thread of all of its quality issues and shitposters would be to remove the threads from the board for a while, then come back. From what I know, the plan was mostly discussed in the plug by the circlejerk that resided there.
  6. Despite being the main person who made the thread events each day, and also had made most of the threads in the 'slow' periods in the the threads history, I was not consulted outside of two conversations, where I was not informed that the plug planned to actually attempt to 'enforce' the plan and I assumed that only they would actually take a break and would not attempt to force other people to do the same.
  7. At the time, I had been having problems with university coursework and had also been disappointed in the threads quality, but I was unsure of what to do in response to the reckless plan. I didn't want to potentially make the fight the thread was going through get worse by turning it into a full out thread civil war, and I had also grown tired of watching the thread each day and making thread events. At the time, I had made almost a years worth of thread events; every day, I would need access at a computer to a specific time each day excluding a handful of days where I was unavailable and as such asked Sinoc, Lukas, or Crimson to cover for me. So, despite not really agreeing with the idea I decided to take a break from the events and see what would happen, and how many people would stay after the turbulence.
  8. At the time, there was a shitstorm in the thread, and the day Lukas made the announcement the thread exploded into arguments and shitposting about the quality dive the threads had gone into over the Nov-Jan time period. In the threads after, the amount of activity fell through the floor, but for a day or two, quality rose up a nice amount before going back into a wave graph of quality and the number of posters going up and down in quality regularly. A bit before that time, I managed to find spare time to ask Lukas about all of this, and that conversation is here:

  10. where Lukas revealed the motivation he had behind the announcement, and gave permission for the conversation to be logged for future use.
  11. In the time following, you all know how the threads quality went around, and I decided that the thread could live without me making events fine, and that when the break finished, I would not make more as I would like to continue not needing to implant the Soku Thread's start time into my schedule so I could more easily focus on University Coursework and other time consuming real life tasks.
  12. I apologize to anybody that actually used the events to find the thread each day, and apologize that I wasn't more active in trying to increase the quality of the thread myself, as this whole mess comes from a few vocal angsty people and shitposters managing to yell louder than people who actually wanted discussion or to just play videogames.
  13.
  14. I am not leaving the threads if this announcement gave you that impression, as after hundreds of days of coming to /v/ each day to watch over a thread leaves strong habits and instincts (each day I still get a feeling around the time the thread is normally made that it is time for an event) but I will be taking a break from the netplay games I do play and from posting, as I have been going through a stressful time in my university and need time to wind down, and to allow myself to fully recover from an illness that I never fully shook off.
  15.
  16. If anyone reading this wants the events to start up again, you'll likely need to contact Sinoc and ask to be modded, and make the events each day yourself, at least for a while, as Sinoc and Lukas are both inactive, and Crimson is having issues with work and timezones.
