  1. [16:49] <Karsten> It's sometime during day 12, and Karsten has a little bit of spare time between his preparations. He decides to take a break and heads out to look for Elsa, in this case. He seems noticably restless.
  2. [16:50] * Elsa is heading back towards the base from town hall, writing in a small leatherbound book
  3. [16:52] * Elsa snaps it shut when she notices Karsten, putting it in the shirt pocket
  4. [16:53] * Karsten waves at her, speaking in German. "Elsa. Do you have a minute?"
  5. [16:53] <Elsa> "It should be fine. I don't have anywhere urgent to be."
  6. [16:56] <Karsten> He waves her over to his garden over by the side of the medical building, then, having a seat. "Mmm... I am just having a few thoughts I'd like to get off my chest, is all."
  7. [16:56] * Elsa floats over then drops herself down, avoiding resting on her bad leg
  8. [16:57] <Karsten> "It's... ending, isn't it? Tonight. One way or another, all of this is going to be over."
  9. [16:58] * Elsa considers for a split second, then nods, "Yes. Outside of any other parties interceding."
  10. [17:00] <Karsten> "It's... come surprisingly quickly given the magnitude of all of this... just two weeks... A war for the future of the entire world, over in just two weeks. Mm..." he leans back, thinking. "Have you given any thought to what you'll do when we get back?"
  11. [17:00] <Elsa> "Depending on the situation of our abilities and memories, there are several courses of action I have in mind."
  12. [17:01] <Elsa> "Of course, if we do not have any recollection of this occurring, then we most likely will lose any injuries and boons we gained here. This is unlikely, since it was stated that those Pokemon we bond with from here will accompany us back to our time."
  13. [17:02] <Elsa> "Assuming we keep our memories, most of my actions depend on what state my abilities are in when we return. Giratina was evasive when I asked if these artificial improvements would stay or not."
  14. [17:03] <Karsten> He seems a little thrown off by how... tactically Elsa's put everything. "Well, what did you have in mind if we return just like we are?"
  15. [17:06] <Elsa> "Depending on what the reactions are when we return, I will either stay with the war, or make my own path."
  16. [17:16] * Aeros (nekodes@i.dunno.lol) has joined #OverthereGame
  17. [17:23] <Karsten> "Mm. That's a bit vague..." He considers. "I've given a lot of thoughts to what I'm going to do. I have no reason to think we won't remember all of this, given how pointless it'd be if so. The five of us are brought from across the world for this, and we've barely had any time to get to know each other... I don't think it's coincidence that the five of us were chosen, exactly... five different humans with different viewpoints on the matter at hand. All of us have not agreed on everything and I don't exactly think we will. I've been trying to think on what I can do when I get home. The Great War is still going to be in full swing, and it doesn't seem to be going well for . Will I even live through the rest of the war? Will I even be able to make a difference, or will people think of me as some crazy kid with ridiculous ideas? ...The world is dying, whether we like it or not, that's the reality we've been shown. But the future... I need to try and help change things. Spread education, reform, maybe some degree of idealism. I can't think in terms of 'will my life matter', but 'how much will it matter'."
  18. [17:26] <Karsten> "I'd like to become someone people will listen to."
  19. [17:26] <Elsa> "It might be best for you to leave the war proper, if you do want to change other things. The casualty rate for our soldiers is much too high to just pin a hope that a stray attack won't kill you."
  20. [17:26] <Elsa> "It would hinder your arguments though, after leaving the army like that."
  21. [17:30] <Karsten> "I doubt I could get away with it anyway. I was drafted, after all."
  22. [17:31] <Karsten> "...I'm not going to die, though. I do think things happen for a reason."
  23. [17:31] * Elsa shrugs, "It is your choice."
  24. [17:35] <Karsten> He shakes his head. "I'm aware. There are no physical bounds stopping me from leaving the army, after all. Anyway... I suppose this is a line of conversation that's been stretched a bit thin at this point. Is there anything you'd like to talk about?"
  25. [15:36] <Elsa> "Would you try and search out the Knights or any of the other legends after this?"
  26. [15:40] <Karsten> He thinks on it. "It's possible... if they'd be willing to hear me out. Or even findable. The pokemon involved in this matter may well vanish from the face of the earth after all of this, for all we know."
  27. [15:43] <Elsa> "It is something that will need to be determined later>"
  28. [15:45] <Karsten> He takes a deep breath, and sighs. "I still don't know, though. I've spent a lot of this time just t hinking on the ethics of it all. You're the one who's taken time to spend with the knights."
  29. [15:45] <Karsten> "Would you seek them out? Is that what you were saying, about your own path?"
  30. [15:47] <Elsa> "Maybe."
  31. [15:47] <Elsa> "It all depends on what happens, as much as I could plan, details will always cause it to change."
  32. [15:50] <Karsten> "I do wonder what you think about, sometimes... you seem to have given a lot of thought to all of this, but you seem prepared to adapt on the fly whatever the situation. You're a very..." he pauses to think how to put this. "Strategic person, I suppose. I kind of regret we haven't talked more..."
  33. [15:51] * Elsa smiles, "I appreciate that you think so."
  34. [15:54] <Elsa> "I suppose that I will miss being so frank with people here."
  35. [15:54] <Karsten> He smiles back, a little, but frowns again. "That's a bit of a luxury of the situation, hm?"
  36. [15:55] <Karsten> "Speaking with Cait has made me decide society probably does have an unfair view of women at times."
  37. [15:57] * Elsa cocks her head to the side, "For some that is true, for others who simply lie there and take it, I see little injustice."
  38. [15:57] <Elsa> "If they will sit at the wayside and allow others to decide for them, they have given up their choice of how to be viewed."
  39. [15:59] <Karsten> "What about you, then?" he looks over at her curiously. "How do you wish to be viewed? ...I haven't forgotten. It may have just been the medicine speaking, but before you told me that you did not think you were as important as I thought."
  40. [16:01] * Elsa flinches, "I don't recall what you mean, but I wish to be viewed in the most advantageous way."
  41. [16:02] <Elsa> "If being viewed as weak will allow me to cripple my opponent, then it is better than being viewed as a threat. How people view me has nothing to do with what I am, or capable of."
  42. [16:02] <Karsten> He nods, after a moment.
  43. [16:07] <Karsten> "It was when I was looking after you in intensive care. It's really not uncommon for someone to just babble when under strong medication. For what it's worth, Elsa... I used to be rather intimidated by you. But... I do respect you."
  44. [16:10] * Elsa looks at the ground, then at Karsten, "I am aware that I am not the most sociable of people, so I am humbled that you do respect me. I just hope that it does not cost me my place as the most intimidating human around here." She laughs in a calculated burst
  45. [16:10] <Elsa> "If you do indeed go out and change the world for the better, I will have to do something as well. To not let your achievements pass my own up."
  46. [16:11] <Karsten> He seems a bit curious at that.
  47. [16:11] <Elsa> "We each will have our legacy, what that entails, I am not certain yet."
  48. [16:11] <Karsten> "We'll have to see, I suppose."
  49. [16:14] <Karsten> He laughs a bit, too. "I hope I turn out to make a good benchmark, at least?"
  50. [16:15] <Karsten> "Anyway... I think I should probably go check my things, make sure I've got everything in order to face Cobalion."
  51. [16:15] <Elsa> "Be sure to talk to Cait, who knows where this entire thing will end up."
  52. [16:16] <Karsten> "It's not if you, I, and the captain won't see each other after today. A bit of good riddance to Ivan. Cait... I think I'll miss talking to Cait. There's probably little chance of corresponding with her after this."
  53. [16:16] <Karsten> He nods.
  54. [16:17] <Elsa> "And I would ask that you do not judge Ivan as harshly, every action we all take have proper motivations behind them, most are just not understood by others."
  55. [16:17] <Elsa> "That is what makes people so interesting."
  56. [16:18] <Karsten> He thinks about that. "Well, not everyone can rationally judge people they dislike, either." he shrugs. "I'll keep that in mind, but I don't know how easily I could change my mind about him."
  57. [16:19] <Karsten> "I suppose we'll just have to see..."
  58. [16:20] <Elsa> "Indeed."
  59. [16:20] * Karsten gets up. "Thanks for speaking with me."
  60. [16:21] * Elsa floats up, steadying her one leg, <Be prepared for something else, after Cobalion's defeat. Remember that we are not tools.>
  61. [16:21] * Elsa heads out without anything else
  62. [16:21] <Karsten> "...Hm."
  63. [16:21] <Karsten> He heads back inside to prepare up.
  64. [16:21] * Karsten is now known as Kain
