  23. '''Das'tan Zhiat'che''' (born on 32nd Sun 6th Umbral Moon), also commonly known as ''Daeva'' in the Ul'dahn criminal undergrounds and as the self-proclaimed prince of Sagolii, is the bastard son of the Keepers Dasequo and Malik'to. No one really knows when or how the young man came to Ul'dah, as there are no records of his arrival -- one day he was just there, and since he's most commonly been found walking the deserts of Thanalan or prowling the streets of the city.

  60. ===<div style="padding:10px 15px; background: #BEC3BC;font-size:14px;color:#5F5F5F;">Appearance & Personality</div>===
  61. : Unlike most Keepers whom usually range from pale white to soot black, Das'tan is naturally tan - almost to the point where people have on several occasions mistaken him for being a Seeker. Would one happen to come closer to the young man however, they would most likely notice those half-lidded eyes of his with large, round pupils and sharp, elongated fangs... All the natural traits for a child of the moon. Another trait Das'tan was quick to adopt from his Keeper roots was the application of warpaint to ones face - each and every single day, the cat gets up half an hour before twilight to apply the black paint over his eyes, and seeing the man without said paint is very rare and only something he'd allow his closest friends and family to witness.
  62. : Unruly black, silky locks cover his head along with a pair of large, black and pierced feline ears. Das'tan cares not much for how his hair lays, which is fairly obvious judging by the fact that his hair seems to have been sliced straight off with a blunt sword; leaving the tips of those silky strands split and in a bad condition. The black fur on his tail and ears tell the same story - he cares little for cutting his hair as his tail is covered in thick, silky fur.
  63. : One of his eyes can only be likened with the sunset itself - glowing oranges, yellows and reds clashing in a shining iris.. While as his other pupil and iris are barely visible beneath what looks like a cataract; rendering his left eye useless.
  64.
  65. : In a crowd, Zhiat'che would be hard to notice. The way he dresses blends perfectly with the rest of the desert folk of Ul'dah - baggy pants suited for long rides seated in a saddle, loose shirts and something to cover up from the blazing sun with (a hat, turban etc.). However, it is the accessories that the Keeper wears that sets him aside from the rest. Both his hands are usually covered in countless bracelets and rings of gold, as is his ankles and hair. It is a modest but direct display of his wealth, and only what someone would notice if they were to look carefully.
  66.
  67. : Growing up, Das'tan lived a rather isolated life away from what could be referred to as 'normal' citizens. Separated from family and friends, the bastard Keeper grew up alongside others whom had also found themselves suffering similar fates to the ones he did - and in the ways they grew up, it was a fight for survival. Only the strongest would survive; it was eat, or be eaten.
  68. His childhood left rather big scars (both mentally and physically) on the man, causing him to be mistrusting of anyone he meets. However, it left him with a great sense of when to flee and when to fight which compliments his rather headstrong personality. Needless to say, growing up in harsh conditions left him with some problems as well. Violent, quick to judge, always on edge and distant are the only descriptions that would fit him.

  71.
  72. =====<div style="padding:0px 30px; font-size:14px;color:#5F5F5F;">Blood, Tears & Gold</div>=====
  73.
  74. :: When Das'tan was born, it was as a bastard son of two Keepers. His mother, a Keeper, had joined the tribe of a Seeker Nunh in her young years, devoting herself to none but him. Of course, as a Keeper, the thought of sharing her loved one with another was devastating and as an attempt to win him over, she gave him nine sons - something not at all common with the Keepers. From her sixteenth summer to her twenty and seventh she bore none but his children, all of them being named after his tribe and with the suffix 'Tia'. Of course, none of these children were considered hers, for they belonged to the Nunh. It was however during a stormy night in Ul'dah when Dasequo had wandered off on her own that she met with the Keeper Malik'to... Whom she felt a spiritual connection to. The two ended up spending the night at an inn, which, to Dasequos dismay, led to her bearing a child that was not the Nunhs. Feeling as if she'd betrayed him, she hid her pregnancy beneath thick layers of clothing even in the hot weathers of Thanalan until she was too far gone to hide it - and even then, she claimed the child belonged to the tribe.
  75.
  76. :: The night Dasequo delivered the Keepers son into the world, he was nothing more but an infant and telling the difference between a Seeker and Keeper in the midst of night was near impossible. Of course, Das'tans mother realized the Nunh would not let the child live if he found out it was not his - and.. Another mouth to feed? He had already claimed it would be too much, even if the child had been his. These times were bad, there wasn't much to eat no matter how many huntresses they sent out. It was then that Dasequo turned to Menphina, the goddess of love and the keeper of the moon, asking her to please save '''her''' only son. Her nine sons had been present at the birth of (to their belief) a younger brother, but upon hearing the prayers of their distraught mother they realized something was amiss. The eldest immediately wished to kill the infant but his brothers halted him before he'd slit the childs throat, and the three youngest siblings promised that if they could take their brother with them they'd make sure he lived long enough to become a man - and they'd return with a copious amount of gil. The mothers only request was that her child's name would remain Das'tan Zhiat'che - Tenth son of Das, (the) Golden Child.
  77. :: Being at loss of what to do, Dasequo granted her sons permission to take her newborn and set off into the deserts of Sagolii.. But where to, she never found out. Just as promised, the nine sons returned with the gil and without their brother.
  78.
  79. :: In the deserts of Thanalan, a circus caravan wandered with the echoes of an infants longing cries resonating from the folded tents and wagons.
  80.
  81. =====<div style="padding:0px 30px; font-size:14px;color:#5F5F5F;">The Daeva</div>=====
  82.
  83. :: As promised, Das'tan grew up - however, not as his mother would have wished. Instead of being the free soul she had wanted for him, the youth grew up in a cage he wasn't aware he was being kept in. Ever since the day his brothers had sold him at the slave markets in Ul'dahs underground to the caravan of travelling circus artists, Das'tan was taught how to dance, juggle, sing, play instruments and entertain. It was a rough road, however, as the ringmaster did not accept any sort of nonsense - and not many dared to go against a Highlander twice their size.
  84. :: Not far after his tenth name day, the young Miqo'te had his first performance in front of a crowd - line dancing with no safety nets whatsoever. Safety wasn't a luxury these men and women could afford, and the loss of a child wouldn't mean much to them. Although the show went on as it should, the young Miqo'te was far too excited as the show had ended and recieved quite the beating from the ringmaster.
  85.
  86. :: It wasn't long before Das'tan was informed what his real purpose as the circus was. It was not to entertain the audiences, it was not to bring in some new recruits to take the place of the old ones - he was a pet. The ringmasters pet, to be exact - and he was treated as such, always being told what to wear, what to do and how to act.
  87.
  88. :: Das'tan was a rebellious child - he never did exactly what he was told and was always climbing around on the tent poles and swinging from the fabrics, chandeliers and what else he could find. He hadn't anyone else to play with but himself, as each and every member of the caravan kept to themselves. All of his nonsense wasn't particularly appreciated by the others, as he'd often try to pin the blame on them. It was when a Lalafell child was brought in that Das'tan found his first real friend. A kid much younger than himself, but a friend nonetheless.
  89.
  90. :: Although his newfound friend was a great relief, the young Miqo'tes mood peak didn't last long. Abused in ways unspeakable, he'd soon grown to care very little for no one - to the point where he would barely speak or find himself in the company of another. He preferred to be alone, all the time, everyday. Even though they all traveled together, the other crew members rarely ever saw him unless it was when he came staggering out of the ringmasters tent with his tail between his legs and ears pinned back.. And even then, he never stayed long. Would someone look at him wrong for even a second, they could be blind by the morning.
  91.
  92. :: His rebellious, distant and violent behavior was what gave him the nickname [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daeva Daeva], which came to be his stage name and later on what he's adressed by in the criminal underground of Ul'dah.
  93.
  94. ====<div style="padding:0px 30px; font-size:14px;color:#5F5F5F;">All That Glimmers Is Gold</div>====
  95.
  96. :: The older he got, the more he started to think - and the more obvious it became that none of the caravan members could have been his father and mother. Das'tan was an outsider, and he was always treated as such. Although he grew to be just as skilled as the others in his performances of songs, dance, sword-swallowing and dagger juggling, he still remained a distant outsider. The only person who accepted him despite his differences was the Seeker, [[P'hadma Menes]]. Although the two initially never got along very well, a bond formed between the two as P'hadma had understood that perhaps this outsider could indeed be her way out. What relationship the two shared is unclear; although it is highly implied the two were more than just friends.
  97. :: At his fifteenth name day, he'd mustered up enough courage to ask the ringmaster exactly where he came from, and the answers he recieved were vague. 'Ul'dah', 'The underground', 'From three young cats'... He never understood fully what it all meant until the Highlander had realized that perhaps it'd break the kid more if he knew.
  98.
  99. :: It was that day when Das'tans sick obsession with gold, gems and anything valuable began. He'd earlied complained about his hair being too long, and wanting to cut it, only to have his master refuse him the opportunity. He'd look prettier if he smiled, was all the Highlander replied. Das'tan didn't quite understand why his looks would matter, and opposed to the refusal, to which he got the answer that if it wasn't for his pretty face, he'd be long gone - his personality wasn't exactly much to brag about, neither was his so called 'talent'. It was after all because the master had seen potential in that childs face he'd bought him.
  100. :: It was then it dawned upon the young cat that he'd been bought, by the same gold and jewelry he wore everyday. ''Gold was the color of freedom.''
  101.
  102. ====<div style="padding:0px 30px; font-size:14px;color:#5F5F5F;">Desolation</div>====
  103.
  104. :: At seventeen, Das'tan had given up all hope about ever being freed from the caravan. It was his home and a prison all the same; the place he belonged and the place he wanted gone.
  105. :: Many of the other caravan members had began praying to Rhalgr, the God of Destruction, and Das'tan was surely one of them. Each and every night, they lit incense in their tents and murmured their prayers in hopes the leader would not overhear - and surely enough, as if their prayers had been answered, night became day.
  106.
  107. :: During a performance outside of Drybone, the circus found themselves attacked by a rather large gang of Duskwright members. Of course, the thieves had realized that with a caravan this big there was money to steal, and they'd all paid their entrance fees... Before setting the tents on fire and mercilessly slashing their weapons through skin, flesh and bones, claiming whatever they could as theirs. Many lives were lost, the ringmasters among them, but Das'tan remained unharmed. It was that exact same night his wanderlust kicked in - as the flames scorched his skin as he rummaged through the gold and gems in the leaders tent. He wanted to wander, he wanted.. More treasure. Desperate to seek out more, he left the desolation behind him and ran as fast as his legs would bear - to where, he didn't know.
  108.
  109. ===<div style="padding:10px 15px; background: #BEC3BC;font-size:14px;color:#5F5F5F;">The Self Pro-claimed Prince of Sagolii</div>===
  110.
  111. Years passed, and all of them were spent wayward in the outskirts of Ul'dah. He picked up on a few bad habits, but learned a couple of useful tricks - did some jobs here and there, got paid and moved on. Such was his ways now, and he was amassing a fortune at a rather quick speed. He knew where to find the finest herbs, the cheapest Somnus and he knew the best ways into the cities without being caught - he'd snuck into Ul'dah countless times during his years at the caravan, after all. Quite quickly, he'd become a popular drug dealer even at a young age, known as ''Daeva''.
  112. :: During his years spent in the desert, he witnessed the way the U'tribe lived in the Sagolii, and how the Nunh so confidently believed the desert and everything the sun touched was his to claim. After having learnt each and every secret of Sagolii, having lived in it day and night, Das'tan had begun to think of himself as the rightful prince of the desert - the self-proclaimed prince of Sagolii. He does adress himself as such occassionally, often in a joking fashion (with serious undertones, that often are missed due to his apathetic way of joking).
  113.
  114. Even to this day, Das'tans dealings in the underground remain strong and his identity unknown - although, there is indeed a price on his head.
