  1. Open the Printers and Faxes control panel. At this point, you should have your printer driver installed and ready to go. Right-click on the printer, choose Properties, then go to the Ports tab. Now, click "Add Port", choose "Standard TCP/IP port" from the list, and click "New Port..." Enter the print server's IP address when prompted, it will complete the name field for you. Click Next.
  2.
  3. For the port type, choose "Custom" and then click "Settings". Leave the IP as you entered it earlier. For the protocol, choose LPR. For the queue name field, enter "lp1" in lower case. Turn the SNMP option off for now, and hit OK. Click Next, then Finish, then Close to finish the port creation. On the Ports tab, make sure this new "Standard TCP/IP port" is checked, then hit Apply.
  4.
  5. Back on the general Tab you should see a Print test Page button, hit that and see if anything comes out of the printer.
