  2. Jekyll seems to be a good respectable man, who is “well known and highly considered.” This also means he has a strong reputation to uphold.
  3. Right from the start of the book we know something is strange as in his will it states that “all his possessions were to pass into the hands of … Edward Hyde.” This presents him as a character of suspicion straight from the start.
  4. The title “Dr Jekyll was quite at ease” suggest Jekyll feels as if he has everything under control (relating to Hyde.) Later on we find this not to be the case as he cannot control when he turns to Hyde, however at this point it presents him as a quite innocent character.
