  1. Hey - i have purchased a nortoriously dangerous/faulty hp computer (i found out afterward) from hp. the issue is the laptop fans *clog*, after normal just-sitting-in-a-room use. it hit temps of 206 degrees fahrenheit (96(?) celsius), too hot to touch. it has a mechanism that is SUPPOSED to shut it down (besides the obvious unusability of it) & prevent a fire... but my last hp laptop burnt a table before i smelled smoke . . . . it was in my bedroom & i was about to go to sleep....
  2.
  3. so i am not keen on trusting this hp.
  4.
  5. contacting them under warranty, this big-wig kept talking over me / interrupting me when i would try to explain that i & MY FAMILY could burn to death, & because of that i only wanted a replacement of a different model, or a refund (this model is notorious as i said for overheating due to the fan design) - long story short, they said to send it in, & sure enough it was clogged, but all they did was clean it: it will just get clogged again, & overheat. as a sufferer of agnosia, i cannot burden such a responsibility to do this extra maintenance or my house burns down.

  7. they (she - the big-wig) was strident about not replacing it, despite it being a real & known overheating & as my last laptop was, firehazard (for evidence, read a string of these messages, users who bought the same dv7 model, & have overheating issues *on hp's oown forum*: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/HP-Pavilion-DV7-2070eg-fan-noise-amp-CPU-overheating/td-p/116984 ).
  8.
  9. this is 3 faulty hp laptops - i would strongly recommend against them. anyway i am pretty sure things have dried up trying with them (i will try again, but before i do, i want to know the thing i came to ask:) what other recourse do i have? if i remember i paid with this product via Paypal.
  10.
  11. what would be a good forum to ask this on if not here? i search "faulty goods" & "faulty goods consumer protection" & every result is UK -- it is sad America has virtually none i could call up using such a search. i recommend trying the search: https://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=faulty+goods&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
  12.
  13. anyway - what recourse(s) do i have? what is my best plan of action to get a refund (& end my business with them) or get a replacement of a SAFE, FIT FOR USE model? i have owned this a little over a year - it was about 7-8 months before it had problems, & a good couple/few after that till i realized it wasn't anything i was doing that was causing the overheat/shutdown cycle under normal use. i saught a refund/replacement with them about month 11 of my 12 month warranty, but all they did was that shysting of taking it in, acting like cleaning the fans would solve their design's recurrent problem, & send it back.
  14.
  15. sorry i am pissed - my other computer is down (after 5 years of nearly continuous service -- i built it myself...) so i urgently need a reliable computer, as i have health problems & use Mercola.com, etc to deal with my health problems.
  16.
  17. any help? what recourse(s) do i have in this situation?
  18.
  19. - joe v.
