  1. (WARNING: There's probably going to be rough language as this one character curses quite a bit. Also, please forgive typos and mistakes. I'm lousy and editing. Lol.)
  2.
  3. -General Headcanons-
  4.
  5. * Lumena receives a lot of flack for training in a Hoshidian battle profession while staying in Nohr. But it was one of the only things of her real home that she had left. When she was younger, her mother started Lumenas training as a young priestess. Learning the basics of healing and praying at the shrines. Her earliest memories are practicing healing simple burns, scraps, and cuts. The year before she was taken to Nohr, on her birthday, her mother gave her a practice Yumi. Till this day, Lumena keeps this Yumi with her as a memory of her mother. Training to become a War Priestess just like her.
  6.
  7. * Lumena wasn't always a fiery, sassy, vulgar mouthed hot-head. When she was younger, she was actually quite well mannered, as expected of a Princess and a priestess in training. But as Lumena started to grow into a beautiful young woman, she started to gain many suitors. At the young age of 15, Lumena had her first boyfriend. Erik, the only child of a powerful nobleman who thirsted for more political power. She was head over heels for her first love. But little did she know that Erik was already in a relationship with the lowly stable-masters daughter. Erik was not only sent to charm Lumena and win her hand in marriage, but to help his father get closer to King Garon and ensure that whichever side wins the war. Nohr or Hoshido, that their family might have a place in the royal court. Upon finding this out, Lumena was heart broken, but she wouldn't allow herself to get sad. No, anger was the only right recourse. At one of her birthday banquets, she gave a toast. Letting all those who attended know what Erik and her father had planned. Looking Erik and his father in the eye, she promised to get a revenge on them that would go down in the history books. Of course, she had nothing planned. Instead, this allowed her to instill years of fear and anticipation to them. Till this day, she gets pleasure off watching them cringe with fear as they walk past her in the Castle Halls. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorn, after all. Lumena then built a facade to protect her fragile ego. She no longer wanted to be the sweet, captive, Hoshidan Princess. No, she was strong and demanded to be respected. If not by love, then by fear.
  8.
  9. * Training can be dull. Shooting arrows at still dummies and targets grows awfully boring after a few years. When her childhood friend, no-- her first friend, Silas offered to be her sparring partner Lumena was uncertain at first. After all, there's a lot you can learn from someone in a small battle. Their ambitions, their willpower, you can -really- see who someone is in the heat of battle. Lumena didn't like this. In a real battle, she didn't mind considering that one of the participant in the battke would die, there being eternally silent. But a spar? No, that was different. Still, Silas knew her well before Lumena became the Lumena she was today. He was her first friend, the man who protected her from bullies when they were children who made fun of her Hoshidian heritage. If anyone knew he Lumena really was, then it was probably Silas. Plus, having a real moving target to practice on would be beneficial to her training. Thus, for years, Silas and Lumena practiced with each other in a hiding spot they found in the Castle Gardens away from prying eyes. Silas using a wooden sword, and Lumena using her practice Yumi and fake arrows.
  10.
  11. * She loved her siblings, she really did. But there was something that always made her feel out of place with them. Perhaps it was the fact that she wasn't related to the Nohr royals by blood. It didn't change the fact that they loved her, she knew that. Still, underneath all that love, she just couldn't shake the feeling that she didn't really belong. It didn't mean that they weren't her family, when people asked about her family in Hoshido she would bluntly tell them that her relatives in Hoshido are strangers. This was her real family, her only family, who raised and cared for her. But then why did she feel this way?
  12.
  13. * Sometimes, Lumena can be overtaken by jealousy. Her precious little sister, Elise was a magnificent healer despite her young age. Healing came almost effortlessly to Elise, she simply had a natural aptitude for it. Lumena loved Elise dearly, but deep inside she couldn't help but to feel a pit of fire each time Elise so effortlessly took care of someones wounds. Yes, she was jealous. Not only was Elise the perfect description of a Princess but she was talented as well? It wasn't fair. Lumena knew that by the time Elise reached her age that she would be a force to be reckoned with, men would throw themselves at her, and all would sing songs of praise of their beloved, pure princess of Nohr, their light in the darkness. Thinking about it made Lumena scoff and roll her eyes. Though, Elise wasn't the only one that was the victim of Lumena's silent jealousy. There was Azura, the beautiful Azura. Who was actually related to the siblings that she loved by blood, who's place Lumena had taken, and was merely just her fill-in. Azura was delicate, beautiful, smart, willful, fierce when she wished it, and also an amazing singer and dancer. Lumena didn't have half the talents. Still, when the war had picked up, Azura was one of Lumena's closest friends and allies. Lumena still cared for her and would do anything to protect her dear friend, but when Aqua walked into a room, people noticed. Almost as though a room would shine upon her arrival, her allure and charisma were unmatched and Lumena was silently envious.
  14.
  15. * Camilla was Lumena's favorite sibling. How could you not look up to your beautiful older sister? Not only was she possibly one of the most beautiful women in all of Nohr, but she was also deadly on the battlefield. Leave it to Camilla to tame a dragon, ride it into battle and send the men that laughed at her to their death. Camilla was the one who taught Lumena all about being a woman. The changes of her body doing puberty, make-up, hair, which accessories were prettiest, which men to look out for, but also how to play the royal court to her favor. It was also Camilla who gave Lumena her nickname, "Lumi" short for "luminescent" and a play on her own name.
  16. "A light that is neither hot nor cold, simply beautiful and leaves those in awe of it's presence. That is what you are, my dearest." Camilla said as she brushed Lumena's cheek affectionately. "Don't ever let anyone steal that light of yours." Those words rang through her head for the rest of her life. She did her best to live up to her older sisters expectations.
  17.
  18. * Then there's Charlotte. A girl Lumena's age that Camilla introduced to her. Charlotte quickly became best-friends with Lumena, and together they create a handful of trouble. Pranks, manipulation, flirtation, the two were unstoppable when they were together. Lumena never really understood why they clicked so well. Perhaps it was because just like Lumena, Charlotte was wearing a mask to protect herself. Also, being friends with Lumena also meant that Charlotte might just complete her dreams of finding herself a rich suitor. It worked out best for the both of them. It also helped that Charlotte was beautiful, but also bloody crazy. Needless to say, she's the kind of girl you want to have at your back during a bar fight. Including since chances are, these are the two girls that started it.
  19.
  20. * Lumena was a hell of a shot, but only a decent healer. She frequently received tips from Elise on how to use her staff correctly. One time, practicing the "Rescue" spell under supervision of Elise and Felicia. Using the ever so loyal Kaze as her target. Kaze was quick, stealthy, and hard to catch. Making him the perfect difficult target to practice on. Kaze was dashing from tree to tree in the practice grounds. Lumena took in a deep breath and aimed the tip of her staff at him, letting it follow him as he sprinted about trying to avoid her spell. It was important that she was precise if she were to do this on the battlefield. But why did he have to be so annoying about it? Lumena narrowed her eyes, she hated failing, more importantly failing in front of an audience. A crooked grin slipped onto her face as she casually walked over to a poison ivy bush.
  21. "Time to learn a lesson today, smart ass..." She whispered before channeling the magic into her staff, the tip of her staff shined as the spell shot out. She barely was able to catch Kaze before he dived to cover behind the next tree. Kaze was teleported from his location and fell directly into the poison ivy bush.
  22.
  23. -Love Headcanons-
  24.
  25. * What was it about Odin that made Lumena feel so powerless? Ever since Odin had become one of Leon's vassals, she was forced to see him during parties, festivals, whenever she spent time with Leon, and sometimes even at dinner when the royal vassals were invited. He was everywhere. Surely, all of them where but she noticed Odin the most. She would peek at him from the corner of her eye, or sometimes just blatantly stare. Her infatuation was written all over her face, to the point that Silas and Charlotte knew immediately.
  26. "Oh~ It looks like someone has a crush! Leave it to Lumena to fall for the half-naked guy at dinner." Charlotte giggled and playfully elbowed Lumena on the side.
  27. "Shut up. That guy looks more useless than balls on a dildo." Lumena scoffed and flipped silky red hair over her shoulder as she spoke. Still, she couldn't hide her smile.
  28. "Hah! Are you blushing, Lumi? Hells, I never thought I'd see the day! You want me to talk to him for you? Let me do the honors!" Silas laughed, and mockingly held up his wine glass in cheers to Charlotte and Lumena. Lumena ignored him, but Charlotte clinged her glass against his. Causing the young red-headed princess to roll her eyes.
  29. "Don't you dare, Silas. I swear, if you do... I'll castrate you from down the hall using only one arrow." Her voice was neutral. Infact, it didn't sound threatening at all. But Silas was unsure if she'd actually do it. Which made it even all the more terrifying.
  30. "Y-Yeah, I was just uh... kidding. Haha..." He chugged down his glass of wine, and that was the end of that conversation.
  31.
  32. * Eventually, Lumena had come to actually talk to Odin. Leon had sent Odin to escort her into the city. Why Leon sent Odin of all people still baffles her. Perhaps Leon had heard rumors of her fancying his vassal, he wasn't the type to openly do favors, but no one would notice if he secretly helped his sister. It was the first time Lumena had gotten to spend one-on-one time with the blonde mage. She had built thousands of expectations in her head, and during their time shopping he managed to shatter every single one of them. He was like a child with a sugar rush. Never staying in one place too long, jumping from item to item with robust excitement, talking about how he's going to be a grand hero, his special moves and their cheesy names. But it wasn't until he had been rambling about dark curses that it finally hit her.
  33. "Curses? Wait... That explains it all." Lumena said under her breath, barely audible enough for Odin to hear.
  34. "What was that, Lady Lumena? You must speak up, I'm afraid my hearing isn't as amazing as my superb spell-play. For I am Odin, Hero of Darkness and---" Before Odin could finish, he found himself pressed against the wall with Lumena's hands gripping at his collar.
  35. "Gods! Shut up! You did this to me, didn't you? You put a curse on me. To make me feel this way. Why else would I bother with an imbecile, dick-mongreling, shit-for-brains, numb-nut like you?!" She shouted at him, causing merchants and citizens alike to watch as this scene unfolded. Lumena, too caught up in her emotions was unaware of the show she was putting on.
  36. "My lady! I would never place a curse on you. That'd be treason! I could die! Now please, I ask that you unhand me. You're ruining my outfit and by doing so I'm unsure if I'll be able to stay my blood thirsty magic hand. Argh! It's happening! Can't... control it..." Odin's hand began to tremble madly, but nothing happened not evil a fizzle. Leon had warned her of Odin and his theatrics, but this was on another level.
  37. Lumena couldn't help but to giggle at this display of foolishness. It had been a long time since Lumena had giggled so purely, so innocently, like angelic laughter that danced through her lips. Her cheeks reddened and she let go of the man, so that she may try to hide her laughter with the back of her hand. "You're really stupid, you know that?" She didn't even wait for him to answer. Instead, she turned sharply on her heel and continued to walk down the merchant stalls. This time, it was Odin who was left blushing.
  38.
  39. * Her affection soon became apparent to everyone. Lumena went from being a total hard-ass to being a giggly school girl whenever Odin came around. Laughing at his horrible jokes, and his goofy antics. It wasn't until Camilla spoke to her that Lumena had finally came to terms with her feelings.
  40. "Tell me, my precious Lumi. How do you feel about that Odin boy? Leon's vassal." Camilla asked with an analytical gaze. There was no point in lying to the elder sister she looked up to.
  41. "Well... He makes my heart beat faster and my stomach gets all tense and tight when I see him. He's borderline insane, but yet I can't stop myself from wanting his approval and attention. I haven't felt this way since Erik--" And that's when it hit her. With a loud groan, Lumena banged her forehead against the table. "God damn it, son of a bitch..." The string of curses went on for quite a while. Camilla had simply stood there, watching her sister as she went on a cursing spree.
  42. "I see..." Camilla said plainly, void of emotion. "Excuse me, allow me to get my axe..."
  43. "W-Wait! Camilla, no! Don't!" Lumena yelped and chased after her sister. "Don't hurt those precious blonde locks and those chiseled abdomens!"
  44.
  45. * Despite everything, Odin was still oblivious to her love for him. Or so she thought. Charlotte had come up with the genius plan of sneaking into the mens bath-house and peeking at the boys. She was against the idea at first. What kind of pervert did Charlotte take her for? It wasn't until Charlotte spoke the words, "Odin is going to be there." That Lumena had quickly changed her mind and went along with whatever Charlotte had planned. The two had made it to the bath house and Charlottle drilled a hole into the wooden wall with a knife and a cork-screw, needless to say Charlotte could be handy whenever there was men on her mind. They took turns peeking and just as Charlotte promised, Odin was there. Along with some others, Joker, Flannel, Zero, Silas and Lazward were all relaxing in the hot waters with floating trays of alcohol. The men were all talking about girls they fancied. That was when Lumena shoved Charlotte the hell out of her way and knelt down to peek. It was hard to see past the steam, but she could see them all shirtless and glistening in a mixture of water and sweat from the steam. Lumena gulped hard as her crimson eyes landed onto Odin. It was Silas's voice they heard first.
  46. "Hey Joker, what about you? Do you have something for Lumi? I always see you coming in and out of her room. I mean, I know you're her butler but why even so late at night?" Silas asked. Was there a hint of jealousy in his voice?
  47. "I don't think that's any of your business. But if you must know, it is my duty to Lady Lumena to serve all her needs." Joker said nonchalantly. Joker knew exactly what to say to get a rise out of his target.
  48. Lumena cursed under her breath, "Why does he have to make it sound so perverse? Joker can be a total dick at times..." She huffed and then looked at Charlotte who simply looked at Lumena with shock.
  49. "I didn't know you had it in you, Lumi..." She looked a mix of proud and shocked.
  50. "It's not like that!" Lumena growled, "Now shush...I can't hear." It seemed they turned their attention to Flannel.
  51. "Now that I think about it." It was Lazwards voice, "I've seen you enter the room of Lady Lumena at night and not leave till the early morning with wrinkled clothing." Lazward revealed a devilish grin, "You little dog, you! Uh. No pun intended."
  52. Flannel's ears twitched and his face turned beet red, "Hey! No! Me and Lady Lumena? No! Well... If I tell you the truth, you can't repeat it out of this bath house. Ever." Flannel spoke with a dire seriousness. He cleared his throat before speaking, "Lady Lumena likes to play with my ears and tail, and it feels nice so I don't mind. But she's also scared of the dark, so I sleep on the floor of her room."
  53. Lumena felt like curling into a ball and disappearing. She was going to wring that furballed bastards throat.
  54. "Lady Lumena scared of the dark?" Zero tossed his head back and roared into laughter, "Not as scary as she lets on. This sounds like excellent blackmail..." He rubbed his chin in thought. "What about you, dunce?" He pointed at Odin. "Do you have someone special you fancy?"
  55. Odin flexed dramatically and stuck his nose up in a pompous manner, "A hero never tells his secrets but if you must know there is someone..." He paused for dramatic effect.
  56. This was it, Lumena was finally going to know the truth. If it was anyone but her, she was going to fire arrows into that woman only to heal her and start all over again. Lumena nearly clung to the wall as she awaited the name.
  57. "Lumi? What in the hells are you doing?" Said a deep familiar voice, one booming with not only charisma but authority.
  58. Lumena slowly looked over her shoulder in horror. There was Xander shirtless and wrapped in a towel, a hand on his waist as he stared at his younger sister and Charlotte.
  59. "Oh my... I mean-- Prince Xander!" Charlotte stood up and bowed deeply.
  60. "Well... Shit." Lumena followed, getting up onto her feet. "Uh... Nothing! Is that Camilla calling? Got to go!" She grabbed Charlotte's hand and ran off, tugging the drooling and staring woman with her.
  61.
  62.
  63. * It took months, but finally eventually Odin had confessed to sharing feelings for her. Perhaps it was the war. With your life on the line everyday, it makes you want to live with absolutely no regrets. The two had just started dating. Finally, he belonged to her and she belonged to him. Lumena became one of those girls that she promised she'd never become. Hanging off her boyfriends arm, feeding him fruits and sweets when they sat in the garden, buying matching accessories. Love had hit her hard, and made her pathetic. She loved hearing the silly names Odin had come up with for his "special moves". The two became a couple that didn't bother to hide their affection (which became an annoyance to many, no one likes PDA).
  64.
  65. * Lazward had once more seen Flannel entering Lumena's room at night. Though he already heard the excuse in the bath-house, he still found it fishy and as Odin's best friend it was his responsibility to tell him what he saw. It left Odin fuming with jealousy. The mage stomped his way over to his lovers room. He went to turn the handle, but the door was locked. His anger now grew to rage.
  66. "Blasted door! You've made an enemy out of me. May you remember this as the day you were sacrificed to stay my magic hand!" He shouted and aimed one palm out towards the door. Weaving together magical energy, he crafted an Arcthunder spell and fired it directly at the door. Yellow lightning shot out and blew the door right off it's hinges, causing it to fly back into her room and crashing against the table in the center of her bedroom.
  67. Lumena sat on the edge of her bed with a book in hand. Flannel was on the floor just beside her bed, curled up into a ball. The explosion had woken him up, causing his head to perk up and reaching for his beast-stone, ready to protect Lumena at all costs.
  68. Odin simply stood at the entrance where the door once was, waiting for the smoke to settle. His eyes scanned the room and as he saw nothing, his cheeks turned a deep shade of rose.
  69. "What is the meaning of this?!" Lumena got onto her feet and grabbed her staff. Eyes scanning Flannel and then Odin for wounds. Concern written all over her face. Deep down under all that cursing and sass, there was a softie after-all.
  70. "I... I thought..." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and flashed the most bashful of smiles. Gods, did he feel like an idiot.
  71. "Let me guess, you thought I was sleeping with Flannel?" Lumena recalled what she overheard in the bath-house.
  72. "Yes but..." Odin fumbled, trying to find words.
  73. "You should trust me, love." Lumena frowned as she looked at the devastation around her room. Flora, Joker, and Felicia are NOT going to be pleased in the morning.
  74. "I do... Argh. Flannel, leave." Odin's voice was stern and strong, not filled with his usual humor. "You don't need to sleep here anymore. I'll be moving in and -I'll- be the one that will protect Lumena from her fear of the dark."
