1997: Fire Arms Act - Banned "high caliber" handguns, greater than .22 caliber (5.6 mm).
2006: Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 - The sale and transfer of "air weapons" by mail order became an offense (they may still be purchased in person), as well as the sale of primers, and realistic imitation firearms.
(most guns were banned in 1988 and included: burst fire firearms, semi-automatic and pump action rifles other than those chambered for .22 ammunition )
