  23. “Lily my dear, I understand your situation, I truly do. However it would be most unfair for me to order a Hogwarts teacher to apologise for their actions, despite their severity, in cases where a student has not been harmed. While the usage of a stunning jinx was employed, I think we can both give Professor Snape some significant leeway. After all, it was within his classroom that your transformation occurred, he’s not been the same since.”
  24.
  25. She knew he was right, listening to Dumbledore’s words echo about the cavernous office he hid himself away in.
  26.
  27. “He hasn’t?” she said, beginning to wonder if something was wrong.
  28.
  29. “Not since he saw what you’ve become. To divulge the whole story is Severus’ job, and Severus’ alone, but I can tell you this. He blames himself for what has happened to you.”
  30.
  31. Lily realised that there might have been more going on in that lesson than she’d at first believed. Snape frequently took his anger out on other students, but when he’d stopped at her for a demonstration, there was barely any hesitation before he moved on. She’d been freaking out, and couldn’t even perform a basic spell, but he’d said nothing.
  32.
  33. “Why can’t you tell the the full story Professor?” Lily asked, trying to change the subject somewhat.
  34.
  35. Dumbledore shifted about in his chair, and then took a sip from his goblet. They both reacted simultaneously to his beard becoming stained with red wine. He shrugged, used a part of his robes to clean the hairs, and then leant in.
  36.
  37. “The truth is Lily, I don’t know the whole story.”
  38.
  39. She looked away, a little unsatisfied.
  40.
  41. “But you’ll have all the time in the world to discuss it with him tonight when you show up for detention.”
  42. Lily crumpled like a pile of rags. She had almost thought that the detention would at least be absolved, emotions were high, and both of them had acted out of turn.
  43.
  44. “But Professor-!”
  45.
  46. “No buts Lily, you’ll show up right on time for whatever punishment Severus has in mind, and you’ll not argue any longer, this decision is out of my hands… and you don’t want to anger him into more detention do you?”
  47.
  48. “That’s true.”
  49.
  50. “Then we’re in agreement. Fantastic!” Dumbledore took another sip of wine, and then repeated the process of removing it from his beard with the very tops of his now stained robes. “Is there anything else you were wanting to see me about Lily?”
  51.
  52. She thought for a moment, the accident had only happened a few nights before, but she was already finding it less and less likely to feel sorry for herself about it. This was being replaced by a thirst for knowledge and finding the perpetrators.
  53.
  54. “Sir, I was wondering-“
  55.
  56. “About the necklace? Yes, it would be odd for you not to be. We’ve had the aurors all over it, as well as myself, Severus, and Professor McGonagall and there are no immediate signs as to the origin of the curses, never mind even what they were. This is old magic Lily, older than we had at first thought. We don’t know exactly the circumstances of how or why the necklace was made, but it was certainly before your time, and before mine too no doubt. But I do have a few ideas of my own”
  57.
  58. Lily wasn’t sure what she was hearing.
  59.
  60. “So… This wasn’t made by Voldemort?”
  61.
  62. The words hung in the air, like they weren’t meant to be.
  63.
  64. “Voldemort? Lily? What makes you think this was the work of Voldemort?”
  65.
  66. She shrugged.
  67.
  68. “I don’t know, it just seems like the kind of thing that he would do. I mean we’ve not seen hide not hair of him since my second year, he must have been planning something in all this time.”
  69.
  70. Dumbledore considered the words carefully, and while he did pick up his glass of wine once again, he did not feel it necessary to actually drink from it. His thoughts were muddled, and focusing on holding the cup helped him focus.
  71.
  72. “It hadn’t occurred to me, Lily, that his might be the work of Voldemort, but then again you very well might be right, you have before. In the beginning though, his plans were only ever for eternal life, to escape death and so on, therefore I find it hard to believe that his priorities will have changed so much that they focus on changing your gender.”
  73.
  74. Lily bit her lip, and shifted about in her chair. It was uncomfortable, but everything in Dumbledore’s office was uncomfortable, it was his way of making sure that no one lingered longer than they absolutely needed to.
  75.
  76. “Rather, there is a story I thought I might relate to you. There is no connection to Voldemort I’m afraid, and it is most likely apocryphal, but sooner or later Miss Grainger will no doubt stumble on it anyway. Would you like to hear it?”
  77. “Of course Professor.”
  78.
  79. “Then I’ll begin, though I must warn you there is a preamble, and it may get tiresome in the telling.”
  80.
  81. Lily didn’t look too bothered with that suggestion.
  82.
  83. “The story I’m about to tell is not one you will find on your ordinary household bookshelf Lily, nor is it featured in the restricted section of our own school library. The story I’m about to tell is not a whole story, it is something that has been cobbled together over the years from here-say, rumour, gossip, myth, and legend, but I think there is at least a grain of truth located somewhere within. The story I’m about to tell concerns not just your transformation, but also the beginnings of the wizarding world itself.”
  84.
  85. The room was suddenly quite a bit darker, and the fire burning quite a bit more brightly, extending shadows and glinting off Dumbledore’s signature spectacles. It was as if the school itself knew that what was about to be told was that bit more important than the rest of the information delivered.
  86.
  87. “It had spent me almost my entire career as a wizard to assemble this, and I do not tell it lightly, you must not speak a word of it beyond these walls, aside from to the ones you truly trust, because the rest of them won’t believe a word of it. It’s a tale a damn sight older than myself, despite my considerable age, it’s a tale older than anyone else alive, it’s a tale older than the school we’re sitting in. It’s just about as old as anything can be. Discounting any further adieu, I believe I can actually begin: the tale of the Descendent Covenant.”
  88.
  89. Lily made sure she was comfortable, and Dumbledore refilled her glass.
  90.
  91. “While Hogwarts is proud to be the oldest running wizarding school in the world, we are careful not to say the oldest wizarding school definitively, because that would be inaccurate, though would certainly gain us considerably more tourist exposure over the summer months. No, in fact, it could be said that the dawn of wizardry, and the dawn of wizard schooling, are inexorably intertwined.
  92.
  93. Yes. I see you’re having trouble understanding that, but hopefully I can illuminate. There had to be a first wizard didn’t there? There are no magical animals after all. We may have evolved from a species not completely unlike apes, but if you put a wand in their hands you find there are none who can cast a spell. Magic and humanity are linked together in a strange way, but I digress. There had to be a first wizard, and there was indeed a first wizard, and then a second wizard and so on. Notice I haven’t said witch, but more about that later.
  94.
  95. While his name is lost to time, the first wizard discovered his powers around the times of the earliest Egyptian pharaohs, but he himself came from the rugged plains of northern Russia. I’m going to call him Victor, because I’ve always been a fan of that particular name. He was the first to discover his powers, and was in fact, the first to actually have powers, the first human who could manipulate the latent magic in the air around him. And so Victor travelled the world, performing great feats, sinking certain islands beneath the ocean, building gigantic buildings that still stand today, if you know where to look, one of them being the great refinery of information that at the time was called Ignis, an enormous palace carved from living rock, which was both his home and his work. But there was no point having a school to teach when he was the only one who could be instructed.
  96.
  97. Then something changed, there came to be another wizard, someone else who was equally capable of using the energy of the universe in the way we know know as magic. He was a boy, around your age, named Amelin, we know that much is true. The story goes that Victor was travelling through the skies as a great eagle when he came upon Amelin, who was burning wood with fire emanating only from his own cloak. Victor was so intrigued, he negotiated the purchase of the boy from his parents, who gave their only son away willingly.
  98.
  99. They started off on their relationship in a particularly treacherous way. With Victor already an older man, the younger wizard lacked discipline, nor the patience to be taught. It was only with great effort that they formed a bond, and soon became student and master, both learning from each other, and growing in skill day after day after day.
  100.
  101. Their power was great, greater than any wizard could hope to achieve, with the magical field spread so thin, being used by every one of us. Can you imagine what it would be like to control the power of half of all magic? To wield it alone?”
  102.
  103. Lily burst back up, she’d been enjoying the story so much that far that she was starting to slip off into sleep.
  104.
  105. “I suppose I can’t headmaster.”
  106.
  107. “You’re supposition is correct. How they managed is beyond comprehension, but at the same time, they did it. This absurd concentration of magic allowed Victor a very extended lifespan, and he waited for the day that a female magic wielder would be born into the world, one with which he could share his seed, and begin a family. Decades passed, centuries passed, and still there was only Victor and Amelin, no more, no less. Not even another wizard was born, never mind a witch.
  108.
  109. This worried them. The purity of wizard blood did not come into question within the last few years, as some have thought, rather it existed right at the beginning, and neither Victor, nor Amelin wanted to risk non magical children. Only Victor conceived of a plan that his apprentice would certainly not have been a part of willingly.
  110.
  111. He thrust his power into booby trapping the whole of the fortress itself, transmuting his energy into impregnating almost every object he could conceive of Amelin using with a curse that would do his bidding.”
  112.
  113. “You mean he-“
  114.
  115. “That’s right, rather than patiently waiting for a witch to be born, or to lay with a muggle, he transformed his only friend, and apprentice into a bride for himself. Of course Amelin clambered out of his bed in the morning, and wiped the sleep from his eyes, possibly drank a glass of water, exactly as you or I would have. But there would have been one article that would have been filled with dark magic, and soon, at some point, Amelin would have succumbed to it. The histories that followed this event are unclear, but what is certain is this. Ameli, as she came to be known, birthed for Victor thirteen wizard children, who in turn birthed him hundreds of grandchildren, and so on and so on. We are all descended from the first two, increasingly diluted of course, but nevertheless containing both the blood of Victor, and his pupil, come lover, Ameli.”
  116.
  117. Lily was still focusing on a detail the Professor had mentioned earlier.
  118.
  119. “So you think the necklace was one of these booby trapped items from Ignis? From thousands of years ago?”
  120.
  121. Dumbledore shrugged.
  122.
  123. “It’s not certain, but it’s a damn good story isn’t it?”
  124.
  125. “Apart from the part where Amelin fell in love with Victor.”
  126.
  127. “You’re right to feel scared in this new situation Harry, but love is love, and from the sounds of things, Ameli must have felt it so to have bore Victor thirteen children. Ah-“
  128.
  129. He checked his watch.
  130.
  131. “Five o’ clock! I can’t believe I’ve kept you so long, what will Severus say? Run along, run along.”
  132.
  133. He pushed Lily to her feet, and right out of the door, despite the protestations and continued questions of the black haired girl who struggled against him. Lily soon found herself once again on the winding staircase back down into the castle, feeling the air rush up against her skirt in quite an unnerving manner. While thoughts of returning to her dormitory early did plague her mind, she was resolute in accepting her punishment, and she stalked off toward the dungeons, trying not to think too much about the fact that Amelin’s fate may turn out to be very much her own.

  138. I very much enjoyed writing as Dumbledore. Conveying his odd brand of brilliance is really difficult, but it's quite funny imagining everything he comes up with. He's a unique mind and a pleasure to imagine.

  146. Wow that's...a really good story! It fits in with things like the old magic stuff and the legends in the books. Dang now that's good work fitting it in like that! Now it has me wondering what the origin of wizards is in Rowling's mind since that actually wasn't covered in the books...actually a lot of stuff wasn't covered in the books...though I guess I've been spoiled by A Song of Ice and Fire now which goes into tons of detail but still leave a lot of stuff ambiguous...but still there's lots of stuff in Harry Potter that I want to know about.

  237. This story takes place in a world where Harry Potter declined to be a part of the Triwizard Tournament, which was eventually cancelled after the exposure of Barty Crouch jr’s impersonation of Mad-Eye Moody. We find our heroes at the beginning of their seventh and final year, wherein Voldemort has not returned, there has been no search for the Horcruxes, and life at Hogwarts has gone on without interruption from dark wizardry. Professor Snape has finally been granted his dream job as defence against the dark arts teacher and is running the most successful program since before Voldemort’s attempt to interview for the job. Albus Dumbledore is still alive, as is Cedric Diggory, and anyone else who died in the interim within the books after number 3.

  245. The first thing that Harry noticed was that his head seemed to be being propped up by something. His body was lying on the cold, stone floor while it contorted and submitted to the transformation, but his head was being cushioned by something. Running his hands up, face startled and praying for help, he felt long, luscious, black locks were sprouting from his head and flowing out until they reached around two feet in length. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
  246. Snape rushed to the back of the classroom, thrusting the crowding students out of the way, and kneeling next to Harry, wordlessly casting as many disarmament charms as he was able. They lit up Harry’s body in brilliant colours, but did nothing to abate the ongoing malady.
  247. “Get back!” Snape roared as Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnegan attempted a closer look. The necklace which had wrapped itself around Harry was glowing gold, with pink tendrils, and demonstrating a rather considerable display of power for"

  250. “Luna? So… Those are the femstrobes then?” Lily asked, still staring out into the morning sun. Luna was looking very pleased with herself, holding the handfuls of the little wriggling creatures. She clambered back up the stairs, and into Hagrid’s hut.
  251. As she grew closer, the assembled could hear the slightest, faintest, singing coming from her hands. It was divine, like that of mermaids or other beautiful magical creatures. Despite her appearances, Luna did seem to be proving herself knowledgable in areas even Hermione wasn’t aware of. Their skepticism was fleeting, and Lily began to feel warm and confident, as if all her troubles would be over soon.
  252. That was, until she sat down next to them, and the singing stopped. It was as if she crossed a magical border, and what was once singing turned into the ugliest screaming and grunting that everyone, perhaps not Hagrid, had ever beheld. 255. Her new clothes had been placed, folded neatly, in a pile by her bed. Waiting, with a deep implication to be told. Harry hesitated to put on the female uniform, feeling within herself to still be completely and utterly a man, or a teenage boy, at least. There was just some kind of submission, giving in, about putting on the skirt, and hiking the socks up her new slender, smooth, legs. The boy’s uniform was always so baggy, but if you wore the jumper in a certain way, and loosened your tie just enough, it would look at least arguable acceptable. This was not so of the girl’s uniform, there was too much skin revealed for Harry’s liking, and the jumper wrapped right around her boobs, giving them a defined appearance through the thin cloth. But there wasn’t much she could do about it at that moment, she’d already told Dumbledore she was going back to school. That meant going back to school as a girl.

  259. Lily endured the corridors of the castle. That is to say she was able to walk through them without falling apart at the seams, as her mind was want to do. Walking through the darkness at night, even with all of the beings that made Hogwarts their home was so much easier than simply looking someone else in the eye. They all knew by then, that she was Harry Potter, used to be Harry Potter, which made it all the worse. She’d never been one who had been particularly versed in anonymity, but in her preceding years the attention had been awe, or congratulations, or a smile at least. On the way to first period, even with Ron in tow, she couldn’t help but feel like a curiosity, or a freak. While the Wizarding world had been naught but supportive, for the most part, she still felt a hell of a lot like she was back in the cupboard under the stairs again.

When returning to the Gryffindor common room, the idea had been to slip through, and then to follow the instructions Dumbledore had provided her with to access the secret dormitory she was to be housed in for the duration of her womanhood. However, upon making her way past the portrait of the Fat Lady, she immediately heard a hubbub going on. A couple of first years by the sound of it, new to the school, and unaware of the courteousness that would usually be afforded by a more seasoned student. They were arguing about something or another, when Lily stepped out from the portal, and into the lush, warm, and very red interior of the room.

During his time as the school’s transfiguration master, a lifetime ago, he’d taken his pacing out into the grounds, where he’d watch the gardens being tended to, the student’s practising their spells on the lawns, or even into the forbidden forest, where he’d walk among the terrible beasts that lay within. All was practice really for when he became headmaster, he knew the school like the back of his hand, he knew the students, and tried to participate as much as he could in the actual running of the school, unlike some of the more aloof headmasters that had come before him. He was respected, loved, and sometimes feared by those who called the castle and its grounds their home, but once he’d earned their animosity or their kudos, there was no more time for pacing outside. No longer could the students see th"

She found herself a seat in front of his stacked desk, but was surprised to find the teacher wasn’t joining her. He was still stood up, waiting expectantly for her to notice him. The lamps were dimmer in this part of the dungeon, and Lily couldn’t help but feel like the darkness was making her uncomfortable. Thinking back though, all of Snape’s potions classes had always been this devoid of light, which was possibly to blame for the poor test results a lot of his students received in their end of year exams.
  279. “Is there a problem sir?” Lily asked, trying not to sound to angry at her lot in life.
  280. “I’d have thought a polite student would request to sit when occupying the office of a teacher,” Snape sneered, holding the door open still, “nevertheless, we won’t be spending our time in here just yet, I’ve need of a laboratory"

  286. Many weeks passed, and for Lily, despite her own misgivings and shyness, found herself having to move on with her life. There was only so much to be gained from hiding from the world, so in the end, she began to assimilate back into school life. Ron and Hermione had noticed some drastic changes in personality from the Harry they once knew, but they were encouraging at best, and silent at worst, over the apparent new Lily Potter they shared as a best friend. The Quidditch season had begun with aplomb, though there would not be a Potter on the team, she showed as much support as she could from the sidelines. Far from quitting the team due to her changes in musculature and physicality, Lily just felt like she’d had enough of the spotlight for one lifetime, and she wanted someone else to share the glory of being the winning seeker.
  287. In theory.

  291. Try as they might, neither Lily nor Ron were able to make it on time for their Transfiguration class, mostly due to the run in with Malfoy, and the intervention of Snape. On the other hand, Lily had been increasingly unable to work up the motivation to go to her next class, she was rattled by Malfoy’s openly antagonistic efforts toward Ron, and a place inside her was saying to stay far, far, away from anything like that. Ron was still dealing with her newfound femininity, but was managing it swimmingly, and was enjoying turning a head or two in the corridor. She was a polar opposite of Lily’s entrance into the female world, but as for how long that would last, neither of them were sure.
  292. Snape had been right, and there was still a lot of the day left for Ron to change her mind about her current physicality. They were split up for the next period, with Ron going to Divination up in the very top of one of the school’s towers, while Lily had an hour of free time, with whi"

  296. It was just before sunrise, and the ebbing glow of the morning was just about beginning to reflect off the ice and the snow, revealing a brightness, and with it, a sorry sight. The remaining soldiers were burying their comrades deep in the snow. Another seven had been killed in the short firefight that had occurred about five hours beforehand. With them, the three enemy casualties were joining them in the ground, one having fallen victim to Hagrid’s loose interpretation of offensive magic, and the other two having paid the ultimate price for their being captured. Someone out there hadn’t wanted them speaking, and so they’d been silenced forever.
  297. “Good news,” Sirius announced to Jenkins, who was, as usual inspecting a notebook and scribbling in it furiously. “For you anyway. They shouldn’t be back for a while, they're not in the business of falling from the sky. Though that does bring me to my bad news.”

  303. The lamps were lit, and so were those final cigarettes. As far as many of the men were concerned it was to be their last night in the world, and to be spending it mired in muddy snow was an unfortunate prospect indeed. The rapidly prepared defences were swarming with soldiers trying to avoid the weaponry that had been so overwhelming night after night after night before. But there was something going on, something in the air, a crackle, a sizzle, energy. Mandeville wasn’t hiding in his tent with his furniture and his alcohol, he was outside, with his furniture and alcohol, with Jenkins by his side as usual, but then two others also. For Mandeville to be showing his face he must have had a damn good reason.
  304. A giant walked among them, and his companion, a soft spoken man, who moved more like an animal, smoothly and always with a purpose. He didn’t seem the sort to do anything he didn’t mean to, but there was a playful side too, bordering on arrogance. He did seem to thi"

  307. While Sirius may not have been replying to her messages, Lily was discovering that Hogwarts could be the escape from her troubles she had previously imagined it to be. Despite the fact that the student body were easily influenceable by rumour and actively pursued any scandalous developments with a zeal that would have made Rita Skeeter blush, they also had relatively short attention spans. Where Lily had been the flavour of the month time and again, once it was clear to some of the more fickle students that she wasn’t going to be all that entertaining, they moved their eyes elsewhere. Usually she would have been glad of their flighty nature, but Ron’s behaviour on the Quidditch field had drawn some in depth analysis of his own. Lily could walk the corridors as if under an invisibility cloak with Ron by her side, but she didn’t exactly want to exploit his notoriety for privacy.

  311. “This potion right here?” Ron yelped, disbelieving, at the disgusting mixture Snape had thrust toward him. As a veteran of the polyjuice potion, just like Lily, Ron expected that there couldn’t be much worse than the putrid muck that they’d drank in their second year. However, he’d never seen a femstrobe reversal potion, a particularly poorly named concoction if there ever was one. Admittedly, Snape had never had to brew before, but from the looks of things, it required a hell of a lot of the blighters, whose body parts were floating on the top, a sight that was causing Hagrid some second thoughts.
  312. She was sitting on a bench, still wearing her old clothes, the heavy jacket and layers of animal hide, despite the fact that they were too big for her. Come to think of it, Hagrid seemed to only have that one ensemble, leaving Ron to contemplate for a second that his old friend might actually have a smaller wardrobe than herself. As a Weasley, Ron dreamed on a n"

  316. From what they discovered walking every which way around the castle under the confines of Lily’s invisibility cloak, for what Crabbe and Goyle lacked in brains, they definitely made it up in elusiveness. They must have covered every inch of the dungeons, finding nothing other than a crumpled up chocolate frog wrapper in one of their hiding places. It was nice for Lily to see they’d clearly enjoyed it, but the adventurousness of their endeavour was beginning to drain. The three of them were squeezed under the fabric of the cloak, with Ron and Malfoy taking up the rear, and Lily up front. And since it hadn’t been used in a good few years, there was significantly less room than she remembered.
  317. Draco was pushing up against her at every step, not enjoying the same flow that Lily and Ron had, which was causing her to feel quite tingly, and was starting to get distracted. She stopped at the bottom of the staircase down to the dungeons, with Malfoy and Ron still arguing under"

  320. Once back in the annex room with Draco, Lily’s emotions went completely all over the place. She was trying her hardest to keep her composure, but as each passing moment went by, she knew she was reaching a breaking point. There was just something about him she couldn’t ignore, no matter how hard she tried. In fact, it was the harder she tried the more difficult it became. Thoughts whirled and a tickling permanence had settled over her, like there was nothing she could do to stop the images flooding her mind. But she was Lily Potter, and she’d never given up before.

  325. In the aftermath of the explosion, the principal participants were sitting around in a circle, those who remained, trying to take it all in. Lily was shocked that the change had come so easily to Ron and Hagrid, but slightly more secured because she was no longer so alone. Ron, chuckling to herself still, and feeling herself up rather openly, was definitely not taking this seriously. Hagrid was wrapping her thick coat around her drastically changed body, and holding the remains of her previously impressive beard in her dainty new fingers.
  326. “It used to be so bushy, and long. How’s Fang going to know his daddy now?” Hagrid whined, slumping even further down.
  327. “Hagrid, you’ll be back to normal in no time, Fang’s not going to know the difference,” Lily assured her.

  332. Unexpected Chapter 2: New Friend
  333.
  334. I slumped in my driver's seat. It was now five in the morning Central Time, having crossed time zones, and I had been driving nonstop. After I made my escape I stopped by a gas station and bought a bunch of Red Bull to keep me awake for the trip as I had to cover as much distance as possible and I was giving myself a quick break by pulling into the parking lot of a Wal-mart. This is it. There's no going back now. I thought back on my family, of all the memories I had shared with them and how much I loved them. No longer would I be able to experience their comfort and security. Tears began to stream down my eyes as I wrapped my head around the reality of what I had gotten into. I buried my face into my hands and let the tears flow while emotions broiled inside me. Best to cry now while nobody is around; I'll need to stand strong in the days to come. I cried and cried until all the emotional turmoil was vented out of me. Once I had finished with the waterworks I looked"

  338. How did this happen? Why me? What happened? Who is this person staring back at me from the other side of the mirror?
  339. I should rewind. My name is Mason. People sometimes call me weird, but I'm just a guy trying to make it through high school in hopes for the future. I have a fair amount of friends, some trustworthy some not and I live in a rather well-to-do southern Christian family. My luck with girls isn't the best, but I have had a girlfriend before and we dated for about half a year back in middle school. My life has been pretty uneventful with a few twists here and there as expected but something I truly didn't expect was what awaited me one summer morning in June that would change my life forever which is where we start our little story...

  342. The Witch's House (TG)
  343. You frown a little as you look up at the small wooden house before you. You know the place, of course - everyone around here does. The creepy old house on the edge of town, whose owner is said to be an actual witch... And for the most part, people believe it. The few times she'd been spotted outside of her house, all those who'd seen her said that she had a sort of "magical vibe" about her, whatever that meant. And magic did seem to be just about the only explanation for the mysterious happenings that seemed to surround the place. Otherwise sane, reliable people told stories of things like talking trees and flying cats, with photos and videos to back them up. And there was that disappearance last month...
  344. You shake your head, trying to drive away the memories of that particular incident. Dwelling on it won't do you any good, you tell yourself. Especially not here... With a sigh, you look once again at the letter that brought you here. It doesn't tell you a whole lot, really - just that"

  348. Finally! The day of Pokemon is finally upon me! I've been waiting years to get my first Pokemon! I was so excited, I couldn't even sleep for several hours. Even now, I woke up around 6 in the morning, tittering and jumping for joy. I was pretty stoked.
  349. A couple of hours later, I heard my mom in the kitchen, making breakfast. I quickly burst open the door and ran into the kitchen, seeing my mom over the stove cooking eggs.
  350. "Well, look who's up, my little trainer." She teased.
  351. "When are we going to Professor Oak's lab?"
  352. She chuckled, "Someone's excited."
  353. "Yeah, I am!!"
  354. "Well, don't worry about it yet sweetheart, that won't be ready for another hour or so. Plus, you still have breakfast to eat through, so why don't you watch TV until everything is ready?"

  358. Amanda sighed and checked the clock on the wall again. It hadn’t even been three minutes since she’d looked at it last. How was the day passing this slowly? Honestly she was beginning to suspect the stupid clock was broken. When she’d taken the summer internship she’d been expecting to work in a lab or do research or something entertaining. She hadn’t been expecting to be given a mountain of redundant paperwork and left to rot in a cubicle at the corner of the office. Worse, it was just late May and she was already bored out of her mind. It was shaping up to be a long summer.
  359. “Amanda.”
  360. Amanda jumped. She hadn’t noticed her boss, Mabel, come up behind her.

  367. I looked out of my window, the night sky so calming. Everything was so still. The moon, the stars, even the clouds seemed to stand still. It was all a beautiful sight. My body shook a bit, but not from fear, but from nervous happiness. I had been waiting a month for tonight. My boyfriend stood behind me, resting his hands on my shoulders, staring out the window as well. He spoke, his calming voice soothing to my ears, “Don’t be scared, Jackson.”
  368. I wiped some tears from my eyes and turned to him, hugging him. “I’m not scared, I’m just a bit nervous.” Many people mistook us for gays, but that was only partially correct. I had a condition like no other, and a strange one at that. But it pleased me, and it pleased my boyfriend, Danny, as well. Every full moon, like a werewolf, I am changed, but not into some animal, but into a woman. Yes, it is still painful, but it is worth it if it means being able to have a family with my sweetheart. “Are"

  371. Xander trudged through the rain, a doctor’s note was crumpled in his hand. The doctor had told him he needed a boost in his immune system. He figured it was some mumbo jumbo; he felt fine. In fact, he hadn’t been sick in years. Sure he had a little cough recently, but it was nothing, right? The rain sure wasn’t helping him, but he really didn’t have much of a choice since his car was screwed.
  372. When he finally arrived at the pharmacy, he was cold and soaking wet. Thankfully there wasn’t a line. He picked up his prescription and was back outside within ten minutes. He held the paper bag close to him, trying to prevent it from getting wet as best as he could. Eventually he made it back to his apartment, set the bag on the kitchen counter and went to his room. Stripping his wet clothes off, he hopped into the comforting warm shower to warm himself up. His roommate wasn’t home, nor did he care, so he used most of the hot water. After he had gotten out of t"
